I Prayed have prayed
God, have mercy on us and help us. We ask You to elevate those who truly seek truth and justice.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

We are now two weeks into wall-to-wall coverage of House Democrats’ impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. Have you followed every minute of testimony? Or have you have tuned it all out? I can understand either response.

On the one hand, this is a historic moment – even if historically outrageous – and you may feel compelled to pay close attention. On the other hand, you may be sickened by the political posturing and the seemingly predetermined outcome. You would have sizable company either way. A new Marist poll released this week shows 49 percent of registered voters think this is serious business, while 48 percent think it’s just politics. A similar split is evident in support and opposition to impeachment of the President. It’s also striking that the survey found 65 percent of respondents could not imagine any new information in the impeachment inquiry that would change their current opinion.

I am one of those closely tracking the impeachment proceedings. I think it is shameful and damaging to our country, but I want to know what is happening and I want to pray through it. In case you are not so glued to the play-by-play, allow me to summarize.

Over the last two weeks, the House Intelligence Committee has held public hearings featuring the testimony of 12 foreign policy officials. At issue is whether or not President Trump directly conditioned about $400 million in American military aid to Ukraine as an exchange for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky investigating the business dealings of former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s son. In other words, Democrats are attempting to establish a narrative that Trump is guilty of bribery.

The testimony has been interesting, but not presidency-shattering. Indeed, a key exchange came between U.S. Ambassador Gordon Sondland, perceived as a star witness for Democrats, and Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio). Turner asked, “Nobody else on this planet told you that Donald Trump was tying aid to these investigations, is that correct?” Sondland agreed (the exchange is here). This should be “game over” in the crusade against the President. Sadly, it won’t be.

Now, no matter what you think of this impeachment proceeding or how closely you want to pay attention, may I challenge you to pray through it intensely with me? Even if this is all just political posturing, I do not believe the outcome is actually predetermined. There is a battle going on here, but it is not simply Republican versus Democrat. It is not just about the 2020 election. There is an ongoing spiritual battle between light and darkness in America, and the heart and soul of our nation hangs in the balance.

As I wrote last month (“Why Is IFA Always On Trump’s Side? The Impeachment Answer”), God is using the Trump administration to do much good at home and abroad. This president is arguably the most pro-life, pro-religious freedom, and pro-Israel president we have ever had. Now look at how he is being attacked—through lies and distortions. Specifically, look at this impeachment proceeding. From the beginning, we have seen distortions of proper procedure and targeted “leaks.” We also have webs of false narratives. For example, just this week House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, “None of us comes to Congress to impeach a President… However, our first order of business is our oath to support and defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic.” If I remember correctly, a very passionate anti-Trump movement fueled many Democrats in the 2018 elections. In fact, a leftist resistance to President Trump’s legitimacy has raged since his Inauguration Day.

We need to pray for truth to prevail in this contentious time, not distortions and leaks. We also need to pray for peace and harmony in our nation. This impeachment crusade is doing harm, not good. It is only feeding impulses of anger and discord. Indeed, I believe it is further eroding Americans’ trust in elected leaders and, one must assume, one another.

May God have mercy on us and help us. May He elevate those who truly seek truth and justice. And, as we celebrate Thanksgiving and enter the Advent season, may the spiritual powers of peace, hope, joy, and love overcome powers of rancor and destructive division plaguing our homeland.

Two scriptures come to mind as we go through these impeachment hearings:

Proverbs 8:15 – “By Me, kings reign and rulers decree what is just; by Me, rulers rule, and nobles, all who govern rightly.” God sets up all authority and nothing to comes to pass without first passing through His hand. He is sovereign in ALL WAYS.

And if you believe that all rulers and authority are set up by God, then I will remind you of the scripture 1 Samuel 26:9 – “for who can raise his hand against the Lord’s anointed and be guiltless?”

The Lord has final say in all things, and the only predetermined outcome is His. What God has established, let no man tear down. I am praying for the President and for truth and justice to prevail.

In Jesus’s mighty name, amen and amen.

As a point of interest perhaps to some or one, having just read and prayed through the articles and comments for both Chick-Fil-A and “Update on the Impeachment Crusade,” I was struck by these points. First: I greatly appreciate the IFA ministry and specifically the “Headline Prayer” forum in which multiple perspectives are shared and prayer is invited in order to get a clearer bigger/broader/deeper picture of where GOD may be working in order to: 1) Unify the body of Christ under the Headship of JESUS, the Anointed Son of GOD; 2) Focus prayer effort on what may be underlying and greater issues than what immediately meets the eye (or the flesh, as the case may be); 3) Bring greater and ever-expanding growth to the Kingdom of GOD, on both personal and corporate levels.
What struck me, sadly, was my PERSONAL, angry response initially to those both in person (whom i love and trust) and those online whose opinions were opposite mine! It occurred to me that this generally is not my immediate nor general response to opposition. Generally, I sincerely desire to hear another’s side but instead I found myself almost immediately becoming outraged and I know that outrage is not a fruit of the spirit!! Ah-ha, perhaps I need to lift my eyes, guard my heart, repent and REJOICE that GOD is on the Throne, while asking Him what HE wants ME to learn and how HE wants me to act/pray/speak in a particular situation! I believe that we, as the body of Christ, may be distracted from time to time by the defeated foe who wants us to charge into the battle with arms swinging (figuratively) before sitting peacefully in the secret place enjoying the Presence of our Victorious GOD. In the “Crusade” article, Dave ends with this statement:
“as we celebrate Thanksgiving and enter the Advent season, may the spiritual powers of peace, hope, joy, and love overcome powers of rancor and destructive division plaguing our homeland.” This was followed by the following 3 comments:

DIYA (10:09 am) 11/23
If the government is on Yeshuah’s shoulders & we are the body, then our words & actions shape His will into society. He is the support and burden bearer but we are the extenders of grace & authority into our sphere of influence.
Our first action must then be to entreat our Glorious Lord & Father in prayerful surrender of our will to Him[;] hopefully we will rise up with His heart, His plan & His will.
The ONE NATION UNDER GOD STARTS IN OUR OWN HEARTS BEING UNDER GOD. [emphasis added]

ROCHELLE (response to Diya) @ 10:09 am
“Lord, I ask Your help to continue loving and offering respect to those who are against me and what I believe.”

LINDA H @11:45 (11/23)
note: I was watching the hearings but when I realized how angry, stressed and anxious I was getting, how it was stealing my peace and robbing me of the joy of the Lord, I stopped watching. I felt I could do a lot more good by staying close to God, praying and staying in faith.

My response is “THANK YOU” to each of these individuals and AMEN!

A good verse for this situation: II Timothy 3:8-9 – … so do these also resist the truth; men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. BUT THEY SHALL PROCEED NO FURTHER; for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.

Father God, I pray the truth be revealed regarding these impeachment hearings. I pray Your Light shine through so brightly that all leaders of darkness be so blinded they can not see. May those deceived by these leaders realize they need You Lord. Lord, You are the Light everyone needs. Jesus you are the finisher of faith. You are our salvation and victory.

This is a spiritual battle that You are winning for us Lord. Lies will never trump Your Word Lord. Although the U.S. constitution is based on Godly values and is very important, sin is abounding and confusing people here in America. Satan is the author of this and all confusion. He is the father of lies.

Lord Jesus, You are the author of Salvation, Truth, Light, and victory. I trust in you Lord God Almighty to pour out Your Holy Spirit into every believer refreshing us and reminding us moment by moment that You are with us. Holy Spirit, come. Holy Spirit, engulf the atmosphere wherever we are. This battle is Yours like any other Lord, not ours.

This battle will be won by faith in Jesus’ name. We only need to believe and pray together as one heart knitted together. The victory is ours, in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, come.

note: I was watching the hearings but when I realized how angry, stressed and anxious I was getting, how it was stealing my peace and robbing me of the joy of the Lord, I stopped watching. I felt I could do a lot more good by staying close to God, praying and staying in faith. I read the summaries at the end or throughout the day from time to time. I reach out to my house and senate representatives. I pray and trust in God. …. Allow this is my way, I pray every believer follow their heart because God speaks to us individually. We are each running our race but are on different tracks to get to the finish line.

God bless all intercessors in Jesus.

But you, beloved, build yourselves up on [the foundation of] your most holy faith [continually progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], pray in the Holy Spirit and keep yourselves in the love of God…… Joel 20 Amplified

Lord, we so desire Your Kingdom Come, (“righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit“) and Your Will Be Done (“good, acceptable, perfect“) as it is in heaven. We trust You for our assignments and our strategies in such a time as this. Thank you for the wisdom, the discernment, and the love of these brothers and sisters in Christ.

While David was King he took another man’s wife and had that man killed. He was not “impeached” because he was still a man after God’s heart and still the man that God had chosen. Whatever call we are walking out, I’m sure none of us can say we’ve done it perfectly. I still most definitely support Trump for all the truth that has been brought out, for his support of life and Israel. Like King David he hasn’t done everything perfectly but I believe his heart is to do good and he is accomplishing many good things.

My heart aches to see the division in the body of Yeshuah. Let’s not forget that when we fail to pray for those in authority we are not only being disobedient to 1 Timothy 2:2, but we are also coming under the leadership of the kingdom that’s in darkness. The words of judgement that we speak travels the earth (not for good but for evil) seeking to connect with it’s target spiritually.
If the government is on Yeshuah’s shoulders & we are the body, then our words & actions shape His will into society. He is the support and burden bearer but we are the extenders of grace & authority into our sphere of influence.
Our first action must then be to entreat our Glorious Lord & Father in prayerful surrender of our will to Him, hopefully we will rise up with His heart, His plan & His will.
The ONE NATION UNDER GOD starts in our own hearts being under GOD.

Create in us clean hearts O lord and put a new and right spirit within us.
Much love!

    Amen!
I read this yesterday in Timothy Keller’s devotional book, The Songs of Jesus:
“Lord, I ask Your help to continue loving and offering respect to those who are against me and what I believe.”
This season is an opportunity, when as God’s children, we can demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit to those who don’t know Jesus, so that they will be drawn to Him.

Praying for this impeachment situation against President Trump. However, I am praying as well that President Trump humbles himself before the Lord and stands with a clear conscience as the proof of the verdict is very overwhelming that he did tried to manipulate the financial aid to Ukraine to have the President of that country make a statement through CNN about the Biden’s involvement in that country. I believe that President Trump needs the strenght and humility to say what was in his heart and let the Lord have the final decision. Great reminders are in the scriptures with King David, King Hezekiah, and King Nabuchodnozzer when they humbled themselves and it was God who exonerated them to His glory and to their blessing.

Oh Lord, Satan wants us to be divided. Work powerfully precious Father to bring out the truth. To bring out what is hidden in darkness. Settle us Lord. Bring unity to your people. Open the eyes of the blinded for your honor and glory. Bring salvation to the ends of the earth. Give your people strength and boldness and an outpouring of Your love through us. Put in us your thoughts and words. Increase our faith through the powerful working of your Holy Spirit, In Christ alone who is our rock and refuge, Amen

Thank you Lola. I agree with your prayer and am one of those interceding for our nation and leaders. I am thankful to be a part of IFA and all it represents bringing TRUTH, so we can wage war against the enemy. None is perfect, only Christ, not our President, yet God placed him in office for this time in history. We are called according to I Timothy 2:2 to pray for those in authority. Pray not disparage.
Let us come together as the body of Christ and see what God is doing in this hour. Let us rejoice in that and be thankful.

NOTICE: Israel and the USA are the last great free God honoring nations on the planet. We need to pray on a higher level against principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness as we are instructed in Eph.6. The agenda is about more than the President’s phone call.

Amen, Lola! I often notice how many more people press “Read more” than “I prayed.” I’m hoping folks just forget to go back and press the button, but it is discouraging to see the lopsided numbers.

I request to be removed from this group that is politically biased. Trump did this illegal act among many others and is conning with his pretend Christian posturing. He won’t even admit that he is not allowed to hold up Congress-approved funds to pretend there is dirt on a political rival. He didn’t care if Ukraine investigated. He just wanted them to say publically they were. It is not his money to use to control people & elections. It is ours spent as our representatives see fit for national security. I pray every day that God removes these evil men currently in power, raises up some who really know God, have honest morals, and abolish the old party system that is failing miserably.

So hit your delete button, and quit reading anything on this website. You have all of Google, Yahoo, MSM television and newspapers that back your views. Move on, most of us think that Trump was put in office by our Lord. He isn’t perfect, but he a better man than what most could endure given the corrupt surroundings of Washington DC.

Kathleen, something I learned at an early age is: ” You may not like your Minister or our President, but you needto respect that person!”. We are blessed that God has given us a man who can that has the strength to withstand what he is going through. We must not judge him . Giving money to countries requires conditions, just as we put conditions on our children when we give them money!

The DemonicRats are all liars! Everything hidden will be uncovered! God put Trump in office to do his will toward Israel and none will take him out but God. If you dont agree just leave.

      November 23, 2019

You’re right Kimberly, what was hidden has been partially uncovered. Maybe that’s why all of this has come to the light. How do you know that this impeachment isn’t God’s will? Just because you don’t agree with it, doesn’t mean it’s not God’s will. Thank God for the whistleblower because we may not have learned any of this if they hadn’t filled out the report. And thank God for the brave men and women who have risked both their and their families safety
as well as their careers to tell what they know about the corruption in the White House! Imagine that Obama or Hillary had done the same exact thing as Trump, I’m pretty confident many on the right would have no problem with the impeachment proceedings then (and with good reason). Funny you mention Israel- Netanyahu is just as corrupt as Trump. Do you have a problem with him being indicted yesterday? You say to leave if one doesn’t think the same as you, is it not ok to have different opinions? Isn’t that part of the beauty of being an American?? Or do you prefer yelling into an echo chamber?

        Kimberly Hartfield
        November 23, 2019

Yes, in fact, I do believe it is Gods will, to expose the democrats lies and deceit in general. But God will exonerate Trump.

          Trudi
          November 23, 2019

As I believe it may be God’s will to expose Trump’s lies. I don’t think you and I know that I can’t predict what will happen in the future. You can hope and pray
but what’s meant to be, will be regardless of anyone’s predictions and opinions. Have a great night!

More interesting is that more people prayed for Chick-Fil…than our President’s Impeachment! Lord change our hearts!
Both are important but surely the Gov. can change laws and affect food places, donations, families, education, Chrisitians, preaching, Churches, etc. our president is earnestly trying to do right let’s support him he is fighting for you, your family, freedom, and your Christian values!

I am praying. I was touched by the 296 people who read this article at this point. Only 74 showed or marked the I prayed box. Please try to check it if you pray to encourage us all that we stand side by side as one body in Christ. We remember in the Bible how a righteous few can have God’s power and blessings and turn evil matters/hearts to another direction. Praise the Lord for taking what is meant for evil and turning it to good!
