WASHINGTON, D.C. — Members of the U.S. House of Representatives introduced a bill that threatens the free exercise of religion and free speech. H.R. 5, known as the Equality Act, broadly imposes the LGBT agenda and does not exempt churches or religious employers, organizations or colleges. It specifically forbids raising religious free exercise as a claim or defense to the LGBT agenda.

This bill amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by striking the word “sex,” and inserting “sex, sexual orientation, gender identity” as protected classes throughout the federal code. This amendment applies to employment, housing, rental, public accommodation and more.

Therefore, church leadership and nonprofit faith-based organizations and schools would be forced to hire gender-confused individuals and allow men access to female (or vice versa) restrooms, showers, locker rooms, dressing rooms, shelters, dormitories and sports. This legislation would also create many more victims — like women in shelters who have been sexually assaulted by a man posing as a “transgender” to gain access to the facility.
Churches that provide weddings or baby showers would be forced to provide the same facilities to LGBT events and “same-sex weddings.” Church tax-exemption and college accreditation (including federal student loans) would be affected.
LGBT indoctrination would be required in school curricula and in workplaces, and Christian teachers in public schools would be forced to not only to listen to such presentations but also to make them for students. Private Christian schools will also be affected.
Faith-based adoption agencies would be forced to go against their religious beliefs and convictions and would be required to place children in homes with same-sex couples. The bill also demands that religious families accept practicing LGBT minors in their home as a prerequisite for being approved as foster parents. State social services could also remove children from their home if the parents oppose the child’s “right to transition to a person of the other sex” or enter homosexual sexual relationships.
Christian business professionals (photographers, artists, bakers, wedding planners, printers, etc.) would be forced to use their creative expression to promote the LGBT agenda or face fines and imprisonment. Home-based businesses would be forced to hire and welcome LGBT people into their privately-owned home, even if they are trying to raise their children according to their own religious beliefs. Under H.R.5, property owners would be forced to accept renters whose actions violate their religious beliefs, including renting out a room in their home or their private vacation home.
This bill also gags counselors from giving professional help to those minors and adults facing unwanted same-sex desires or actions. It even punishes counselors who share their own story of finding freedom in Christ from homosexuality. This bill literally sets the stage for setting up the Bible as prohibited material where it addresses homosexuality.
“The Equality Act is not about equality. This bill eviscerated religious freedom and targets churches with an LGBT wrecking ball,” said Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver. “This bill pushes the LGBT agenda on all people and targets Christianity in every area of life—including the church. There also will be an increase of sexual assaults when males ‘identifying as females’ are allowed to use girls and women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. We will see an increase of instances where Christians and others are being punished unless they violate their beliefs in order to comply with such a law. And that is just the beginning of unconstitutional chaos in America,” said Staver.

I live in Canada, a very liberal and pluralistic nation. Our Christian schools are already being forced to teach this perversion, born of selfdelusion, it is not suprising that there are people who chase after the sinful desire of their flesh, however it is entirely different thing when they not only subject themselves to the fulfilling of said desires, then push and lobby for the dictatorship of their pernicious world view upon the population at large. There is nothing right, Just, honourable,compassionate, empathetic, sympathetic, acceptable, Good, kind, or loving, about what is going on here. This is purely quixotic in nature, there is nothing reasonable, logic, or sensible about this. However, as ministers of the holy Word of God, we are called to minister to even This, and it is by the grace of God that this will be rectified, and all glory will be given to God. We must find a way to be everything that they are not, to the end that the gospel be on display, by our example they will know. In this we will suffer for Christ, their eternal lives are at stake, they are worth suffering for, the cross of Christ is proof of this.
May God heal our nation’s through his faithful and trusting servants.

In submission to Your authority as a joint heir of Jesus Christ, I declare bill HR 5, nul and void! in the name of Jesus I thank You that You are Lord over this nation, that You prefer mercy to judgement and that the number 5 shall NOT be used to represent or release anything into this nation that would give the enemy strategic advantage over Your Kingdom purposes. For 5 is the number of GRACE! As David took up 5 smooth stones, then placed one in his sling and released it, so let the prayers of your Saints find their mark, that the threats of the enemy may not only FALL, but be “cut off” and taken captive by the sword of the Spirit, the Word of God! “Let God arise, and His enemies be scattered!”
Father! Convict the hearts and minds of these who would have this law come to pass! Remind them in their hearts and minds that they will suffer the very consequences and more if they provoke such behaviors on others – especially the innocent. I agree with Nancy P.’s prayer! Please raise up the necessary prayers against this Equality Act that will oppress our religious freedoms. Please permit that while the Bride is still here on earth, You will not allow the enemy to assail us in such a way that would force Christians, Christian schools and churches to accept LGBTQ speakers and teaching, for this is an evil indoctrination that is pure manipulation. Please, Lord, rescue us from this onslaught of the enemy and deliver us from this evil. Dad, is this what you meant by in the last days men would be lovers of themselves and would give up the natural use of a women? Father, the end is close, really close. We have a problem that we want solved. You are the only one who can stop it. Or is it “such a time as this”. Looks like it, sounds like it. Heavenly Father, as a nation we repent of electing men and women without fear of You that choose to undermine Your authority in our lives. Father I pray for a sweeping change in our hardened hearts, that we would return to You, to Your Word, and that our lives would reflect lives Glorifying You alone. In Jesus name we ask for a change, we ask for our leaders to be drawn to You and the laws that are passed are so all people, understanding we all bleed the same, will have laws applied the same, not singling out certain groups for any reason therefore alienating another group, so that we all be able to live peaceable lives. I pray for our education system, Lord, so many have not been taught Church history therefore are unclear of our nation’s history and have a poor understanding of civics. Seth, you mentioned the Ethiopian Eunuch whom God sent Phillip to explain Isaiah 53 which was a prophesy concerning Jesus Christ’s suffering for the forgiveness of sin. Also Peter, Christ’s Apostle was sent to explain to a gentile salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Both believed and were saved and set free from the bondage of sin. In neither case was it about accepting someone’s sexual preference – homosexuality. God created us in His image both male and female. Genesis 1:27-28. When we pervert what He has made as representing Himself, we sin against Him not mankind. Jesus did not come and die on the cross for the forgiveness of sin so we could continue sinning but that we would be set free from the sin that destroys Who we are. Jesus even told the adulteress after she was forgiven to go and sin no more. God is Holy and He calls us to live righteously, not according to how we believe or am pleased. Since you quote scripture have you not read about what God thinks about homosexuality? Would you be willing to find out or do you care to know? Christians share God’s Good News about salvation. Telling the truth is not about condemning someone but saving them from God’s judgment. God loves you and wants to set you free. I encourage you to Look up

Seth – I appreciate your thoughtful approach to these issues. However, our founding fathers saw the wisdom in scriptures as the basis for our government and believed rights were given by God alone, government’s role was to legislate his laws as understood through the Word of God – biblical narrative. This is the foundation of government; his will, his morality and his holiness.

Seth – I have found a forum such as this to only result in increasing levels of animosity, so, I will end the conversation here by saying, the phrase you have selected is described by you incorrectly and out of context. It was not a historical statement the president was making it was a politcal point as to how the young nation would handle treaties. The phrase was even left out in a later rewrite of the treaty. You fail to mention that God is in charge and never discriminates against the other. If you were so comfortable in your shoes, you would never have to impose this Equality Act, which isn’t equality, to support your lifestyle, which is discouraged in the Bible. Suffice to say, what do you say that I have a different opinion and belief. Why do you want to silence me when I see things differently? Churches have the right to assert their teachings according to the Bible. It’s our freedom of speech that you want to be taken away from all peoples. This is not equality and I will fight against it.
Our founding fathers used the tenets of the Bible to say all men are created equally. This Act is not equal to me or others like me. And the separation of Church and State is a good one, except this Act will say that churches and other places of worship will have to succumb to the LGBT demands, which, in fact, is their agenda to infiltrate all sources of Christian views. It’s not about equality, which is all the hype. It’s about their agenda not allowing Christian minded people to say I disagree with you but I love you.
If you’re essentially stating that government cannot legislate morality, I state that that is untrue. All of our moral laws are amplifications of the The Ten Commandments:

You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.

There is no STATE CHURCH, this is true. There is a law to protect religious liberty. HR-5 is in conflict with religious liberty. Public Education is “socialized” Education. Private schools are private and should not be dictated by social agenda. Laws are created for the lawless. There are natural and spiritual laws that no one can defy. (If I lie to you, I kill trust).
There are laws already enacted to protect individual rights. HR-5 is going beyond protecting “individual civil rights” and allows for a forced agenda and indoctrination into society.
Politics/legislation and proposed legislation is certainly not protecting Christians. Christians are being slaughtered world wide, Christians are being suppressed in America. We know what will happen to us… “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake.”

I know you love all people and have given us the law of love to work out. Please help us to work out this law of love and faith as you would have us do even when the government makes laws that are seemingly opposed to your will. Lord I pray against rebellion, political gain by spreading transgender or transsexual activists that further their cause. Lord I pray Your will over religious freedom of speech and vs LGBT rights. May Your TRUTH bring healing to a confused, rebellious and vulnerable society. Lord while we still have a Biblical voice to share Your love, truth and in compassion through much prayer help us be obedient in doing so. Lord I pray Gen. 1:28, 2:20, 1 Tim. 6:19, Eph. 4:17-18, Matt. 16:24, Tom 12:2 . In Jesus name. Amen
