PRAY ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF THE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN

Father, in the midst of great turmoil in our nation’s decisions of state, let us not forget to be a people of compassion for those in need of help.

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (Col 3:12)

Trump administration officials said Tuesday that the Agriculture Department will be able to pay out food stamp benefits for the entire month of February — tamping down fears that the partial government shutdown could have resulted in rationing or halting of benefits.

The assurance that the food stamp program, which serves nearly 39 million people, would be on secure financial footing for February marked another major reversal from the administration in the ongoing shutdown fight.

Just a few days ago, White House officials had said funds for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program were likely to run out in February if Congress didn’t act, an outcome that would have led to a sharp cut in benefits for millions of low-income Americans who rely on the program to help them pay for groceries each month. Democrats had seized on the White House’s threat as both sides tried to increase their political leverage as the shutdown, now in its 18th day, entered its third week.

The move follows a similar walkback on a White House threat last week that millions of Americans would not receive tax refunds as scheduled. Senior administration officials on Monday reversed course and said the refunds would be processed during the shutdown….

“We have tried to make this as painless as possible consistent with the law,” acting White House Budget Director Russell Vought said during a White House briefing on Monday.

USDA, one of nine federal departments without funding amid a dispute over border wall funding, will not have to dip into a reserve fund for SNAP to ensure that benefits are paid out next month, USDA officials said during a briefing on Tuesday…. (Excerpts from  Helena B. Evich article in POLITICO)

  1. Father your word says that all things work together for good for those who love you. We the people of the USA love you and we love our nation as well We ask that one of the good things that result from this crises will be the emergence of a just and compassionate Immigration Law. We ask this in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. Amen

  2. Our Heavenly Father as i bow before you i come as i am not worthy of your blessings thank you because of your love we have your blessings and have access to the throne of Grace may we come boldly and may we as a nation humble ourselves before you seeking first the kingdom of God Lord Jesus would you please go before us and bring your perfect will to all that is going on. Thank you that you hear and see every tear that falls nothing is hidden from you and nothing is to hard for you Praise god thank you Jesus that you have it all in control and have a Purpose Jeremiah 29 verse 11 it is all in your name the one and only name Jesus you are the God above all Gods.

  3. Heavenly Father,

I praise your holy name, and lift up our nation, it’s leaders, citizens & inhabitants you. May we be a nation & people who worship & honor you in both word & deeds. May we repent & turn away from our sinful ways, for you are Holy. I ask that you will provide our top leadership e/Heavenly wisdom, discernment, grace and mercy. Soften their hearts toward righteousness, humility & goodwill toward the people of this great land you have blessed us with. May they quickly make right & just decisions. May you convict them of their hypocrisy, selfishness, wickedness, deceit & lying. May they’re guilt keep them awake at night, as they toss & turn. Bring them to repentance, confession of sin, and turn to You, for guidance in following Your will.

May we be once again be a God-fearing, loving, honoring people, may we have law & order, compassion for the poor, the widows & orphans. You are a God of order. You are also our provider, may we provide for the needy, and may all able working men & women, have the works of their hands blessed by our Almighty Heavenly Father.
    In Jesus name I pray!!

  4. Thank you Jesus for life itself. We are a blessed people. I thank you for being God alone. You are so loving, kind, merciful to us. I surrender all to you. I come into You Holy presence first asking You to forgive the people of America for turning to other gods. Holy Spirit help all of us to repent and turn from our wicked ways. And pray like never before. Humble all of us so that every American will humble themselves and seek the face of Jesus. And that He is a healer, deliver, etc., But most of that He is The Savior of the world. There is no other name to call on to be saved. Lets get to work praying and leading a lost dark world to Jesus. Amen

  5. Precious Holy Father, We have sinned against You in so many ways as a nation and individually. I repent for my sins and the sins of this nation. I praise You for sending Jesus to pay the price in full for the sins we have committed. Cleanse our hearts and our land of our wicked ways. Father, our land needs healing from all the problems our sin has caused… the drug addiction, the sex trafficking, the stealing, killing, abortion, divorce, marriage problems, etc. Teach us to love as You have loved us.
I pray for our government leaders to be guided by You in this very difficult decision about the border wall. Let Thy will be made known to the leaders. I pray they will come together & make the decision to do the best thing. I pray for creative ways to help the people coming to our borders who need help. Just because they show up at the border doesn’t mean they will get the help they need. There are so many coming it takes time to process the needs.
Father, for those who are being affected by the government shutdown, I pray they will receive the help they need, too. I pray the foodbanks will provide food for those in need. I pray the loan companies, credit cards, & banks will have mercy on those who owe money for their homes, vehicles,or other purchases. Father, You know ways these needs can be met, please show us Your way. I pray the shutdown will be resolved so that people will be paid for their work. These things we asked in Jesus’ name. Amen

  6. Oh Sovereign God only You can bring order where there is such chaos and childishness! You have compassion on every one of the folks affected by the shutdown and are not blind to their needs nor can You ignore them. You are omnicient and know precisely the needs of each. Have all the churches and everyone who can hear You (even a whisper!) in the Washington D.C. area step up and assist these Gov’t workers. Fulfill each need through Your people in such a way as to invoke jealousy in the recipients. Help us all then to see that our help is not to be found in the government but in us as individuals and, united, one mighty force for Good. Jesus showed us so well how this love thing is done Lord. Remind us that we all reap what we sow and unite us Father. Help us to number our days and then give them all to You in Your service in these final days. For we ask all this in Jesus’ mighty Name and know You have heard us.

  7. 800,000+ workers for the government aren’t being paid… Maybe it’s time to cut back government. Their pay checks come to them on the broken backs of us ~ the tax payers. We are tired of paying our tax money to kill babies, destroy the family and suck the life out of us.

Dear Father God Almighty, lay Your hand on this government. Let Your will be done concerning the mess we’ve made of it. Let the USA glorify Your name and do Your will, or else we perish. In Jesus name we pray, amen

  8. Father, we release the Blood of Jesus into the atmosphere of the entire United States of America, to speak into the shutdown, provide for the government workers, and continue to expose evil in the land in Jesus name.

  9. Lord, grant our President and this administration wisdom in their decisions. Let them be guided by You. We commit into Your hands the hearts of the American people. May strongholds and veils and scales fall as truth is revealed. Let the hidden things of darkness be revealed and let Your justice tempered with mercy cleanse our land. We repent of rejecting You and by faith, we decree tht America turns to You with all our heart, in repentance and in faith for forgiveness. We bless what You are doing in our nation. We proclaim Jesus is Lord of America.

    1. Lord, as president Trump weighs the decision of whether to declare a state of emergency, Lord just cover us in Mercy and Grace that it does not move us from the blessings of our Constitution. Lord our founding fathers never wanted us to morph into a monarchy, even a benevolent one. We trust Lord that Trump would relinquish the power after the crisis is resolved. Lord we realize we don’t deserve our beautiful form of government, the average citizen today is so devolved and disinterested compared to the population that was able to appreciate our republic and how it was designed to function. Dear Lord you promised that in the last days there would be knowledge without learning; grant that to our people now, and beg You. I know we don’t deserve it, but for the sake of the fervent prayers of generations past. For the idealism that sent so many patriotic fine young men to their deaths as soldiers, with faith in their hearts, Lord for the dreams of these who made that ultimate sacrifice, we beg You to restore common sense to our people. We pray that able-bodied people will be ashamed to beg for entitlements; Lord we didn’t get to this state of a permanent welfare
class.overnigh, and we won’t get out overnight; we know it will be painful. This nation was built by people who had a “mind to work”, Lord please bring that back into style. Lord we pray for the unborn. I pray that women will regard abortion as unthinkable. I pray against every UNELECTED person in bureaucracy and in business that wields power behind the scenes. Lord, either purify them or get rid of them. I pray for boldness of your people, and deliverance from any spirit of greed or laziness or apathy, in the name of your precious son Jesus I pray Amen

  10. Heavenly Father you are a good God and we put our country in your hands to heal and direct it’s leaders to seek your guidance, turn from selfish ambition and represent the people who elected them. We praise you God for the miraculous election of Donald Trump! We ask you Father to allow your Holy Spirit to descend upon America with a revival that reverberates around the world. We love you our dear God and adore you!

  11. I lift up our President, keep him strong in purpose and goal, continue to expose the deep state, cause the Republicans in Senate to hold the line and keep the left in the Congress from undoing all our Presidents good work these past 2 years. Give people wisdom to have savings to use when hard times come. May churches help with any needs their parishioners may have during this time. May we all look to you, in Jesus name, Amen

  12. Father, we thank you that you have everything under control when we put our trust in you. We thank you that you are working everything togeather for good. We thank you that as we humble ourselves and pray AND TURN FROM OUR WICKED WAYS you are hearing us and healing our land. You are a GOOD, GOOD God and we PRAISE YOU!

    1. Praying in Jesus name for all the government employees who are affected by the shutdown that God will give them hope and peace throughout this, and praying for our leaders to give them wisdom and come to an agreement for the American hardworking people serving this great country. Amen
