Last week The Los Angeles Times featured an essay by novelist Diana Wagman explaining that she started practicing witchcraft in order to resist the Trump administration and its policies. Brandon Showalter of The Christian Post wrote a Christian response and reached out to Wanda Alger, Field Correspondent with IFA, for her comments on this essay. Here are some excerpts from his article:
(Wagman) first heard about the “Spell to Bind Donald Trump and Those Who Abet Him,” an incantation that thousands of witches performed under the waning crescent moon last month through the email list of the Oracle of Los Angeles.
“I don’t believe in the devil, but I do believe our country has gone to hell, and I am willing to try anything to save us,” Wagman explained. Wagman added that she did not “want to send bad vibes” into the universe but because the “dark and terrifying have risen” in the form of Trump’s Cabinet and aides like Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and advisers Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller, she felt the measure was warranted. She said she wanted not to harm the president but “impede” his agenda and saw no difference between this binding spell and meditation, the “oms” she says during yoga, the prayers from her Episcopalian family, or even scriptural exhortations about faith.
“It’s all about conviction, about concentrating and believing, with all your heart, that you can make a difference,” Wagman said, then cited Matthew 21:22, which reads “And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” as additional supporting evidence for her participation in the mass spell.
Wanda Alger, Field Correspondent for the Virginia-based Intercessors for America thinks the church is set for an Elijah versus the prophets of Baal showdown. She expects overt displays of witchcraft to increase in the coming days, but Christians should not be spooked.
“As self-proclaimed witches and warlocks are coming out in open, we are facing another Mt. Carmel,” Alger said in reference to Elijah’s encounter with the prophets of Baal. “However, instead of wringing our hands in fear and working up our own prayer frenzy, we should take the same posture that Elijah did. He was not worried, fearful, or anxious. He was so full of confidence in the power of His God he actually laughed at the antics of the demonically-driven. As he watched their rituals of self-sacrifice and hypnotic chanting, he waited for his opportunity.”
(Wagman continues) “I believe in resistance and in the power of collective action. Working together by the millions — sending out shared, fervent hopes and dreams and wishes, praying, voting, even casting a binding spell — we cannot be ignored. Doing these things, keeping the faith, gives me hope.”
Alger, who ministers at Crossroads Community Church in Winchester, Virginia noted that it was significant that the writer states that “faith” is central to this practice even though she says she does not believe. “The difference is that her faith rests on herself —– on her own convictions,” Alger said. By contrast, the faith of a Christian is the kind “that overcomes the world” and is “anchored in a God of might and power that can never be held down by an incantation or spell — no matter how many people chant them.”
Alger has several challenges for Christians in light of the increasing visibility of the demonic in culture. “Where will your faith rest? In the threats of a seeming army of demonically-inspired rebels? Or in the faith of an eternal God that can do the impossible through one faithful believer?” she asked.

We pray all this that the world has favor with President Trump and that President Trump has favor for the whole world. In Jesus mighty and Powerful Name I pray.
It is both disheartening and heartening to read these responses. I am not so well versed in the bible, though I know it since I have read through the bible twice at least to quote so many scriptures. This I know is that we got the president that God gave us to give the real church this window of opportunity to turn things around so more people will be saved before Christ returns. This scripture comes to mind. Pray for your enemies for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on their head. I did not know what that meant but I do now. I need to have the right attitude of Christ, and pray for them not in wanting them punished firsthand but that I want the scales of lies to be off their eyes, by living as Christ wants me to and interacting as he wants me to. I know that God is in control and that gives me comfort in these turbulent times that we are living. And after doing all that we can, their choices will fulfill their fate if they don’t chose Gods love and forgiveness. Lord, help our President to continue to do your will, to not be discouraged and turn us back to the country you would be proud of because its your grace. Help Barron Trump especially too and the families of the cabinet. Amen
I have seen witchcraft in the church. I saw evil spirits come up and fill a christian congregation. The demons came up when false allegations came against Godly leaders. These allegations brought a great divide. We see this now coming from certain churches who side with Democrats for gain. Worship is really a powerful weapon and will defeat any and all witchcraft. When Gods presence come He sends ambush against it all.Pray for the fruits of the Holy Spirit and pray for your enemies for there salvation and deliverance. Gods love in your heart continually.

God, You are great. You hear and answer our prayers. God, you are all powerful. We trust you to use every direct assault against Your Lordship as when in Daniel, the King said to the Hebrew children “What God can save you out of this?” The King brought a confrontation with You. This is when You have rolled up your sleeves and shown those who Evokes Your name that You can and will fight and win against every direct assault for the sake of Your Name and for the Glory of Your Name.

We have a prayer team that prays every night For President Donald Trump. It is found on You tube under “Christian Warriors for Donald Trump Fight Back”, We use scripture and the word of God is working on these witches, wizards, globalists, lefties and all who come against our president. The Bible says, ” That If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:19
So keep praying God is still on the Throne.
God sent Jesus to this world to deliver gentiles and Jewish from the spirit of death. We need to follow the truth. Because, Jesus is the truth the way and life. Witchcraft is from the devil and anyone who practices it will not enter into Heaven. It is an abomination to God. The bible clearly explained about witchcraft In Revelation 21:8 “But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars–their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
In Galatians 5:19-21 the word of God said that now the actions of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, rivalry, jealously, outbursts of anger, quarrels, conflicts, factions, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild partying, and things like that. People who exercise such things will not get in to the kingdom of God.
If we are intercessor and pray for the churches and for our leaders, witchcraft never impact on their life because we have the power and authority to stop the spirit of witchcraft.
We must stop listening to Satan and simply do what the Lord tells us to do.
Father God, I bind and break the spirit of Witchcraft, the spirit of intimidation, and the spirit of rebellion in the name of Jesus. Amen!
Lord God of power and truth I pray Your loving hand over President Trump, Vice President Pence, this administration, cabinet, houses of Congress and all their families. May Your mighty warrior angels encamp around them. Keep their hearts strong and their minds sharp. Keep them from discouragement and fear. Give them Your truth and clarity. May their words incise lies and deception. I thank You God for Your promise that You will be with us wherever we go. Keep President Trump strong and courageous that all he does and says may glorify Your Holy Name, in Jesus Christ I pray, amen.

Behold says Jesus, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means harm you. Luke 10:19. For our God IS God.
Our Father said :Exodus 22:18 says : “”suffer not a witch to live ” I do not expect the enemy to be standing, when I finish peary I do not expect the enemy to be standing. Not one, none. This is War Saints . not a time to give the enemy a tract to read. Put on your armour and speak the , chosen words of our Father , make the chosen declarations in faith . It is a Spiritual War!! We will all see what father said. He will fight for us .and because he give us Authority and Power in the earth realm here. We must open up our mouths. Stay connected to Holy Spirit, nothing in this earth moves without his power. call forth the Kingdom Power, Yes the spiritual army is available. Ready RIGHT NOW! Pray for the unity of the Spirit & the bond of peace over America with the Power-Wisdom & mercy for the Trump party to come to a resolution in the dissolving of the debt, lRS, fed, and a new system from the eternal Lord prevail to save the USA from a Great Depression being initiated by the fed & by liberal spending & the White House.
We as the Church do confess the sins of division, gossiping, backbiting and bearing false witness. These sins of schisms, evil speaking and fake news are heavy in the Church … We ask forgiveness for them and ask you to judge those errors in us. We also ask you to judge the world for the selfsame issues.

Ephesians 6:11-12: “put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our fight is not against flesh and blood.”
That is a Christian prayer right from the Bible that any curse would fail to stick. Some may not believe;that is their perogative. My church firmly believes and prays for our leaders, as we are able to do that in our great nation. America First !
We know these “witches” have no power, and that our God is all powerful.
So let us not have a spirit of fear, and let us not give the devil more credit than he deserves.
Does anyone honestly think a “witches spell” could affect the president.
Now if i could give him a knuckle sandwich … that would be another matter.

Elijah may have ran away, but that was written for our edification. This present day Elijah company will not run away. If they do, God will appoint a Jehu to finish what Elijah left unfinished. Jezebel will be completely annihilated, and her house. The zeal of the Lord will accomplish it. It is not by might or by power, or our strength but by the Spirit of the Lord. We do not trust in our own bow which cannot save us. God heard the cries of repentance of His people and gave the USA another chance. Prayer Initiatives like Appeal to Heaven have become a Movement. God heard and responded..This He did by placing President Trump in office. He is not perfect, and God is not requiring perfection from him. God who started this is not about to abandon ship now. The USA is critical in the economy of God, and He is not wringing His mighty Hand in despair not knowing what to do. Our prayers are working in more ways than one. Things are being shaken because of prayer, and will get worse as God establishes Himself as Lord. We should be encouraged to pray all the more fervently and not be moved by what we see and hear, especially from mainstream media. We put our hope in God who loves America, and has invested much in her.
How do they think Trump got into office….Prayers and then answered prayers! These woman are so lost and my heart goes out to them. If only they knew the wonderful power in Christ blood and what they will miss for eternity.
Our response as Christians should be to pray for those who walk in darkness. This lady, along with those who are joining her, are deceived. I pray that her eyes are opened to the darkness that she lives in. May she see the light of Jesus Christ through His people as we reach out in love–not fear. We pray for Trump, not because he is a godly leader. He’s not. We pray for him because he is a person that Jesus died for on the cross. He is a human being in need of the same grace that each of us clings to. We pray for Him because apart from the power of God, He can do NOTHING! May He humble himself to God, so that He receives the grace he needs.
What a wonderful opportunity for us to let our light shine, so that the world sees our good works and glories the One True God!
Father give us your heart towards those who walk in darkness. May your love through us be resolute, resilient, and relentless. Prove yourself to be supreme in power, and may your perfect love cast out all fear. It is by the authority of Jesus that I pray. Amen.
Understood but what did Elijah do after he had cast down the prophets of Baal.
He ran for his life in fear of Jezebel.
The walk of faith is not as straightforward as this article would like to proclaim.
There are terrible forces of evil at work in the USA and unfortunately the President in most things is succumbing to the demonic influences around him.
Yes we are to pray for our leaders but I would caution you that the great expectations we have upon his winning the election are dissipating.
Not only because of his opposition but also because he is a mere mortal and is heavily influenced by ungodly advisors.
