Intercessors for the Persecuted Church

We are burdened to remember and pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ worldwide--especially newly converted Muslims, Jews, atheists or agnostics--who are enduring great persecution and even death, yet standing firm in their witness for Jesus Christ. Praying that they may be blessed,
strengthened, encouraged and upheld in their faith to the glory of God.
March 20th, 2020 Florence (Lor) cunningham Father God, we pray for all believers--our brothers and sisters-- world-wide who are suffering for their faith and devotion to Jesus Christ. We pray that they would know that they are not forgotten or abandoned. Moreover we pray for these believers who are standing firm for Christ with great courage and faith. May we all be inspired to continue trusting You, Father God, and glorifying You as we all are going through this unprecedented global covid pandemic March 2020. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.... all to Your Glory. Your faithfulness, mercy, compassion and love are never-ending.

April 16th, 2018 Florence (Lor) cunningham Please be praying for the release of Wheaton College '88 alumnus and Protestant Pastor, Andrew Brunson, from the time of his arrest in Izmir, Turkey on October 7, 2016 to the present. Imprisoned and held on false charges of terrorism, it is widely believed that Andrew is being used as a political pawn by the Turkish government to leverage the extradition of Turkish Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen, who lives in Pennsylvania and is believed by Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan to be behind an attempted rebellion to overthrow the government in July of 2016.

Prior to his arrest, Pastor Brunson had peacefully lived and ministered in Turkey for 23 years.

Rev. Brunson has been scheduled to appear in court this Monday, April 16 at 9:00 am (1:00 am on Monday our time). If the charges against him are upheld — claiming he supported both the secessionist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) guerrilla movement, and the outlawed organization of Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, Pastor Brunson could be sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Please pray for God's peace to enfold Andrew, his wife Norine and their children. Pray that Andrew will know the reality of God's presence with him and His love for him, and be able to trust Him with his life and future. Pray for the Lord to give Andrew words to say before the Turkish lawyers and government officials who are trying to trap and condemn him. Pray for the Lord to oversee all that happens in the courtroom.

Most importantly, pray for the glory and renown of the Name of the Lord in the country of Turkey, once the seat of power of the Christian ruler Constantine. Pray, as in Daniel's day, the power of the Lord will be revealed and the fear of the Lord would spread, overtaking the government rulers and officials who seek to dismiss and destroy His own. Pray that many in the country of Turkey and in the world will believe in the Lord as an outcome of Andrew's imprisonment.

May those brothers and sisters suffering persecution be upheld by our gracious Savior that their faith would not fail them and that they may know His comfort and provision.

January 3rd, 2018 Florence (Lor) cunningham Father God, we hold up our precious brother in Christ, "Eddie," and ask You to show Yourself mighty and compassionate in his life and his family. Thank You for saving him, keeping him in Your tender care, bringing him and his wife to the USA, and leading and providing for him all that he needs. We pray healing for his injuries, and we ask Your Holy Spirit to lead him to the perfect loving body of believers where he could grow, develop, heal and minister. As I pray for this Syrian brother, I ask also prayers for my doctor's family in Syria who are believers to be able to safely come to the US, and to likewise grow in Christ. Thank you, Mary, for your bringing Eddie to prayer.

January 1st, 2018 Mary McCauley I ask prayer for Eddie (not real name) who became a Christian by reading the Bible. He is from Syria and now lives in the United States. His relatives beat him and tried to kill him for becoming a Christian. He and his wife made it out of Syria. He has suffered physically from his past injuries. He needs to find a Church where he and his family can grow. He has a heart for the Syrian people to become Christians.

November 18th, 2017 Florence (Lor) cunningham Dear Intercessors,

Thank you for remembering to pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ. The book of Ephesians gives us great insight, please pray:

*persecuted believers would know the hope God gives (Ephesians 1:18).
*the Holy Spirit would strengthen them (Ephesians 3:16).
*persecuted believers would know how much God loves them (Eph. 3:17)
*would know how to share the gospel (Ephesians 6:19).
*persecuted believers would fearlessly tell others about Jesus (Eph. 6:20).

May 20th, 2017 Florence (Lor) cunningham "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you." 2 Corinthians 4:8-12

Father God, we pray for our beloved brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering in and for Your Holy Name, that You would hold them up, encourage, bless and protect their faith.

January 28th, 2017 Florence (Lor) cunningham Intercessors, please keep Saif and Naama in prayer as they are ministering to other Assyrians in Syria. This Assyrian family was forced to leave their home, business and community in northern Syria because of the war. As refugees, they began attending prayer meetings, a Bible study, and the whole family soon put their faith in Jesus. “Saif” invited twenty more Assyrian families to join the meetings and many of these families also became new converts. In one meeting, one family asked, “Why would God allow for misery, persecution, and destruction to take over the Assyrian people who have first accepted Jesus thousands of years ago and speak his language to date?” “Naama” responded, “We, as Assyrians, have known the truth thousands of years ago, yet we have never glorified God or walked on His steps! Today we need to repent and ask for God’s forgiveness!” Saif and Naama recently moved to another country and hope to plant a church to serve the Assyrians there. from: www.

Pray for a Pastor Whose Home Was Raided by Police

Police raided Pastor Hamid Shabanov’s home during a morning worship service on Nov. 26 in Azerbaijan. After declaring the worship service illegal, police took 10 men and 16 women to police headquarters, where they were forced to provide a written explanation of their activities. Police also confiscated all Bibles and Christian materials belonging to the church and its members. While 22 of the adults were released at around 8 p.m., Pastor Hamid Shabanov and three others were held for questioning until about 11 p.m. Authorities have repeatedly harassed the pastor, his family and his church. In 2013, he was fined more than a year’s wages for holding an unregistered worship service. In 2008, he was charged with possessing an illegal weapon, after a gun was planted in his home.

Post Your Prayer
Pastor Hamid Shabanov.

July 28th, 2016 Florence (Lor) cunningham For over 60 years, Open Doors (Brother Andrew) has worked empowering Christians who are persecuted for their beliefs, equipping them through programs like Bible & Gospel Development, Women & Children Advancement and Christian Community Restoration.

Let's join them in praying for the countless Muslims coming to Christ
during Ramadan, which ended earlier this month. Pray that
many would continue to come to saving faith in Jesus, and that their faith would not fail them. Pray for the Lord Jesus, our Lord and Savior to be glorified in them and in all.

May 14th, 2016 Florence (Lor) cunningham INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH (IDOP) is planned for NOVEMBER 20, 2016.

In Africa, North Korea, China, India, the Philippines, and other nations, Christians face worship restrictions, public humiliation, and social isolation. Many encounter violence; some face death. Church buildings are burned and vandalized. The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is charged with raising awareness of such circumstances and lifting the most pressing instances of global persecution up in prayer. Held annually in mid-November, traditionally a month devoted to remembering the saints and martyrs of the church, the event is supported by prominent evangelical and humanitarian organizations including the World Evangelical Alliance, Open Doors, and International Christian Concern.

Precious Jesus, Lord of unfailing love,
Be with our brothers and sisters across the world who are suffering for Your sake. We watch and pray with them today.
Faithful friend and Saviour, You know each one of them by name. You have suffered with them, Jesus, even to death on a cross.
May those who mourn know the joy of trusting You.
May those who are in pain know Your healing and Your rest.
May those who are afraid know Your freedom and Your peace.
And, Lord, we pray that their persecutors will see Your greatness and turn to You.
For Your glory, gracious Lord. Amen.
