I Prayed have prayed

As we pray for God’s Wisdom to lead and guide those in positions of authority, we should consider how it is that any of us have access to the Wisdom from heaven.

But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (1 Cor 1:23-24)

It is only in living a crucified life that we will have access to this Wisdom from on high. We must lay down our own ideas of what is right and just and learn from Him. We do not seek wisdom for personal promotion or advantage (1 Cor 1:22). We seek wisdom in order to know Christ more fully.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. (Eph 1:17)

It is through humbling ourselves before the Lord and surrendering our own ways that the mind of Christ and heart of the Father is revealed. It is from a place of objectivity, without any need for personal recognition of advancement, that we can see a fuller picture of God’s purposes. Especially for those in leadership, this kind of wisdom is critical in order to serve those they lead.

According to James 3:17, wisdom that comes from a humble heart, surrendered will, and crucified life will be pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. Let’s pray that these qualities are seen in increased measure within our own lives and in the lives of those who lead us.

  • Pray for our leaders to know the crucified life.
  • Pray that they would seek wisdom and revelation in order to know Christ better.
  • Pray the benefits and blessings of wisdom over them.
  • Pray that they would watch daily with the Heavenly Father in order to receive the wisdom needed to lead godly lives and make righteous judgments.

Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. For those who find me find life and receive favor from the Lord. (Prv 8:34-35)
