Just this week we were discussing the absolutely vital importance of the family to the strength of America in our weekly staff meeting at IFA. Wanda Alger was sharing how she sees the breakdown of the family as underpinning many, many of the issues we face. We agreed to look for articles and videos to share that will emphasize the importance of strong families. This short Heritage Foundation video does just that.

Heavenly Father, In Jesus’ Name by the power of Holy Spirit, impress on the minds and hearts of all people the important necessity of a Marriage commitment for “better, worse, sickness, health….” with Triune God as a part of the marriage. Allow all to admit to the terrible price that had been paid in terms of cultural damage due to unprecedented rate of divorces, broken homes, children who do not have the stability of home life where they see parents who are committed to the Lord and each other for the sake of their Faith, each other, and children that God has blessed them with to nuture into responsible adults. Help me to remember to pray for families in my Church, and in every Church, and then for families outside the Church who will come to know and see the importance of believing and worshipping YOU, the Triune God. Amen
I am grateful for this subject; having been a single parent. I feel that if schools would begin to teach children the importance of relationships, communication in earlier grades and sex education. I believe the most important component for education is to bring God back in the schools. I also read that in one country overseas that people were given time off during the day to go home and take a break. To rest and have family time. The break I believe was paid for. Too many couples work hard demanding jobs that take them away from the important things in life. One being God the other, family. I also believe that at this point for many, counseling would help for people to learn how to have a Godly, healthier life and family. A lot of people do not see things because of the fast pace of life. I pray for intervention for people struggling, hurting and overwhelmed. I pray that they would begin to get the love, understanding, hope and help they need. I pray that they would be shown that God is the one that can sustain them and give them everything they need and that they would know that they are worthy and loved by the Lord Christ Jesus.
There is no doubt about these truths. I see young people living together without the commitment of marriage, and without the bond of God to hold them together, especially through difficult times. Unfortunately, young couples have seen so many broken marriages that some are afraid of it or get married thinking they can easily bail if they want to. Lord, we lift up young couples to you, that they would look to you for their strength instead of falling victim to the wounds of society.
