Pray for God’s wisdom to prevail over matters of reproduction in all areas of our society.

Washington State is set to legalize commercial surrogacy, a move children’s rights advocates say amounts to the selling of babies, bases the definition of a parent on “intent,” and opens avenues for child abuse and other horrors.

The Washington state House of Representatives passed the “Uniform Parentage Act,” along party lines with every Democrat in favor and every Republican opposed. The bill had previously passed the state Senate with total Democratic support and three Republicans. The state’s Democratic governor, Jay Inslee, is expected to sign the legislation.

“For House Republicans, this bill was a matter of conscience,” said Liz Pike, who represents the state’s 18th house district, according to Clark County Today.

“We all voted ‘no’ to protect the womb from being monetized and commercialized. This bill sets virtually no limits on the amount people will be able to sell or purchase a human baby for. I’m disgusted that such a bill would ever be considered let alone pass. What have we become as a state, selling human babies to the highest bidder? Is this who we are?”

Katy Faust, who leads children’s rights organization Them Before Us and testified against the legislation during the hearings, regards the likely soon-to-be law as disastrous.

“When I say that we have established a global marketplace for children, I am not exaggerating. That is exactly what this is,” Faust told The Christian Post Thursday afternoon.

“Once you legalize something and commercialize something, you’re going to get more of it,” she said, noting that the Washington legislation contains no restrictions and more economically disadvantaged and vulnerable women who think this is just another way to make money will be exploited….

“We are knowingly putting children in situations where they are statistically the most likely to be abused and neglected,” Faust said.

“People don’t get what a massive shift this is. We are messing with the nature of what it means to be a human baby. That is what we’re doing.” (Excerpt from Brandon Showalter’s article in The Christian Post)

This bill causes me to be absolutely nauseated. My heart is broken with even the thought of this. Then, making this a bill?, what is going on? How can society think so little of human life. Human life is a miracle of God, a gift from God and the ultimate blessing of
The intimate result of Love in marriage. A baby is the evidence of two lives brought together that will become their joy for all their time here on earth! If you agree with this bill, I beg you to go to the most precious book on earth, the Bible, and learn the true meaning of life.
The more I study and read my Bible the more it shows me the joyous, refreshing, peaceful life there is to have. This way of life is found in receiving Jesus into your life and letting Him guide you to real truth.

Father GOD,
We continue to call forth awakening in the hearts of those who are being deceived. Would You bring about confusion in the enemy camp so that despite this travesty, righteousness and holiness will prevail through the church’s activism on its knees? Help us to be bold and courageous and willing to stand up and speak truth in love. We speak life through the means You and YOU alone have provided. In JESUS’ Name.

I live in Washington State. It is very hard soil in the hearts of the people here. While I know there are those who called their representatives in Olympia and got involved concerning a number of evil bills this session, all which passed by the way, there are far too many Christians who are not interested in getting involved, or worse, they simply do not have a biblical world view. God bless those who continue to pray.

workerbee, Thank you for your comment. We will be praying for you and your state. May God break up the hard soil and raise up His Church to add action to prayer. This is why we are promoting Intercessory Activism, equipping intercessors to get involved. You can find great resources on our home page that address this. Judy McDonough, Communications Director
