In a speech on the state House floor, KSL.com reported Lisonbee described the abortion of Down syndrome babies as “eugenics.”
“America has long repudiated the horrors of eugenics and the eugenics movement, but social engineering is alive and well in Utah’s abortion clinics and doctor’s offices today as we see the eradication of babies with Down syndrome,” she said, adding that she has heard “unfathomable” stories from parents who said their doctors told them they “must abort this baby” after receiving a diagnosis of Down syndrome.
“This bill is not unconstitutional,” Lisonbee also said, referring to a previous version of the bill that was feared to be unconstitutional and then died at the very end of last year’s legislative session.
The current bill includes a “trigger” that states the abortion ban would only take effect after a court ruled on its constitutionality.
“We must send a message to the world that Utah values everyone,” Lisonbee added.
The bill now heads to the state Senate for consideration.
The U.S. Supreme Court decided in January it would not hear an appeal from Indiana regarding a similar ban on abortions for genetic abnormalities such as Down syndrome.

I pray, Lord, that you lift up and strengthen all these prayer warriors who pray according to Your Will and Your Word. Amen.
Lord, we pray for protection for all those who step out and courageously proclaim the sanctity of all life. We ask for you to protect their families, jobs, finances, homes, ministries, and all people in their personal and professional sphere of influence. Increase their boldness to speak Truth, and grant them rock-solid strength to stand firm in the face of opposition. Bless Rep.Lisonbee, and raise up other legislators to be a strong voice for the unborn. In your mighty Name, we pray.
Father God, I pray in agreement with Thomas. I pray this bill is void in Jesus name. I plead the Blood of Jesus Christ over all babies born and unborn in all states in Jesus name. Amen

Thine eyes did see our substance, yet being unformed and in thy book all our members were written, which in continuance were fashioned and as yet there was none of them. Psalm 139:14-16 I pray evil perishes and righteousness prevails all over the world. Thank you for the wisdom/action of Utah House of Rep. Father God, we would ask for your wisdom and guidance in the Senate’s consideration on this same subject to affirm the same as the House has so done. Thank you Father for your answer to this prayer.
Father I thank you that we are the head and not the tail above and not beneath. You gave us power over all the power of the enemy. The enemy was rendered powerless when Jesus defeated him and took the keys of death he’ll and the grave!!! We thank you Father that when two or more pray you are in our midst. We call this spirit of death to naught!! The kings heart is in the hand of the Lord turning it withersoever He will. Thank you father you are turning the hearts of the legislature to end eugenics. Father god, I pray that this bill passes in the senate and ultimately it becomes the law in UTAH to protect Downs Syndrome babies. FATHER GOD, I REALY, REALLY PRAY FOR MY HOME STATE OF VERMONT. LORD GOD, PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT BILL H.57 AS IT IS ABOUT TO PASS THE VERMONT HOUSE SOON AND END UP ON THE GOVERNOR’S DESK. FATHER GOD, I PLEAD WITH YOU THAT SOMEHOW AND IN SOME WAY YOU WOULD SUPERNATURALLY INTERVENE AND THAT YOU STOP H.57 FROM BECOMING STATE LAW. I PRAY IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.
