Jailed American pastor Andrew Brunson went on trial again Monday. After nearly 12 hours of courtroom proceedings, Turkish judges for a second time sent him back to prison, pending a July 18 continuation. Sunday night I attended an overnight vigil at Brunson’s home church in Black Mountain, N.C., where about 25 people—including Brunson’s 75-year-old mother, Pam—gathered to pray starting at 2 a.m. EDT to coincide with the beginning of the trial in Izmir. Pam Brunson—who with her husband, Ron, is a Presbyterian missionary who served in Mexico, Pakistan, and Russia—prayed throughout, including for jailed Christians in North Korea. She said, “Andrew is not a victim. Andrew is an instrument.” Her husband is currently in Mexico training Bible study leaders.
Brunson’s pastor and representatives from the Evangelical Presbyterian Church attended Monday’s trial, along with Sandra Jolley, vice chairwoman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Among many issues, this international case now hinges on a push on Capitol Hill to clamp sanctions on Turkey and block future military sales to the NATO ally as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan moves forward in purchasing S-400 anti-aircraft missiles from Russia. “I want to stay hopeful, and I am hopeful he might be released. But in cases like this, it’s not all law here,” Brunson’s Turkish attorney, Ismail Cem Halavurt, told The Atlantic. “There are other things that are in play.”… (Excerpts from Mindy Belz’s article in WORLD)

Father God, I declare that the recent freedom of 3 men from N Korea fuels the passion of the church and political leaders to pursue freedom for Andrew Brunson. I call on the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into the fields of Turkey that are white unto harvest turning the hearts of men to Your face! In Jesus name!
Sovereign Lord, Holy and Good, I come before you asking that the fear of the Lord would come upon all Andrew’s jailers and fellow prisoners and that they will see by Andrew’s countenance that you are with him just as Moses’ face shone with evidence of your glory when he had been with you. I pray that you would give your servant, Andrew, your favor to preserve him in this very difficult situation–physically and spiritually–and that your holy angels would minister to his every need. May you keep his heart and mind staid upon you and may your Holy Spirit speak through Andrew to glorify the Lord Jesus with such powerful results that the enemies of the Lord would quickly desire to release him to prevent further proclamation of the gospel in their dark realm. Father, as your Word never returns void, I pray that there would be a mighty move of your Holy Spirit bringing the dead to life in Christ Jesus in that jail, regardless of the of the enemy’s every effort to prevent it. For you, O Holy and Mighty God, are the Great Amen who calls us to life from death to bring glory to your name! May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!
I pray for Pastor Brunsons safety, for your peace within him, Your angels to surround him and Your wisdom within the ACLJ lawyer fighting this case. May Your name be glorified during this time and in the outcome.
WE place Pastor Brunson in the hands of you Lord and believe that you are the keeper and preserver of your people; give him strength to walk through this very hard trial and may the peace of our Christ be in him and on him in His name, Amen!
Heavenly Father, Many prayers are going forth to You as we seek the release of Pastor Brunson. Please send Your angels to be around him in protection, and Father we know angels can open prison doors and set Andrew free just like they did for Peter. I pray that Thy will be done and that Your kingdom will come into the prison where Pastor Brunson is being held. Thank You for hearing all of our prayers. Amen.

to bear on his situation for the glory of God.
