A new, massive study of whether genetic factors contribute to same-sex behavior just reported its results. Media outlets are reporting on this in various ways, but Scientific American is a fairly mainstream, unbiased source and this is what they published:
“Analysis of half a million people suggests genetics may have a limited contribution to sexual orientation.
Now, a new study claims to dispel the notion that a single gene or handful of genes make a person prone to same-sex behavior. The analysis, which examined the genomes of nearly half a million men and women, found that although genetics are certainly involved in who people choose to have sex with, there are no specific genetic predictors. Yet some researchers question whether the analysis, which looked at genes associated with sexual activity rather than attraction, can draw any real conclusions about sexual orientation. . . .
Despite the associations, the authors say that the genetic similarities still cannot show whether a given individual is gay. “It’s the end of the ’gay gene,’” says Eric Vilain, a geneticist at Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C., who was not involved in the study.”

““The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV) It is the heart of man opposed to the things of God that is the problem. When you want what you want without regard for the Creator or His Word, then He gives you over, then gives you up to a “reprobate mind,” to the lusts of the natural man (read Romans 1). There are reasons for many of these people to choose what they have chosen, and I would say most of them have to do with “nurture” rather than “nature.” I suffered many abuses at the hand of my father that have caused me problems in different ways during different times of my life, and could have led me to a different path. But I praise God for His healing of the wounds I sustained, and for forgiveness flowing between my father and me before he died at the young age of 49. Satan is in the world to deceive, just as he did in the Garden of Eden. He is “The thief” who “does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” (John 10:10 NKJV) Believers in Christ have the responsibility to be in prayer against these strongholds, to share the love of Jesus and be His light in this dark world.
Maybe reading the whole study would be more convincing. This short article was confusing and not very much information to go on.
It is a hormone imbalance issue. I know a pharmacist that is gay and he agreed with the hormone imbalance issue, but said he likes the way he is and wants to stay that way. He is quiet about his relationship and doesn’t do the gay scene. He is happy keeping his life private, and so are straight people. So why do gay feel the need to make their sex life public with parades and protests everywhere? Why won’t they get their hormones tested and in balance?
Perhaps because it is a spiritual problem as well as natural. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions like repentance which requires humility. A person who marches in a gay pride parade is not humble.

If we know the Word, we know that the “special gene” cannot exist.
Father You know we live in a fallen world and yet You still gave us the Holy Spirit to dwell amongst us. We are all sinners, for none are good no, not one and no sin is greater than another. Father, my sin of unbelief, selfishness, & pride kept me on a dark track of hypocrisy and addiction and besetting sins that I struggle with today. If not for the truth of Your Word and the power of the Holy Spirit to change me I would still be loving myself and loving my sin. Oh how it grieves me to pass a church sign with ‘open and affirming’ on the marquee and I know it must grieve Your Spirit the wolves in sheep clothing being accepting of such abominable & grievous sin. Yet there is nothing new under the sun, nothing that is not a surprise to You. Father we ask for boldness to speak truths, we ask You to burden the hearts of those following an open and affirming ‘gospel’ message, may the burden be to walk away, to declare biblical truths in a loving way, sticking strictly to Your Words so we dont create a debate and division in the church but separate the church from worldly influence. Lord I ask this weekend, you begin making uncomfortable those You call out of their circumstance. May they discern Your calling, and may all of us be sensitive to those who’s hearts are crying out for help and hope. Amen

Why would our loving and forgiving God create any human being that He would hate from birth? He wouldn’t. He knits us together in our mothers’ wombs. He clearly says that He hates homosexuality and God is not a man that He should lie. He would never create something that He would hate from birth. Every gay person that I know has a story of sexual abuse or assault by a man or, at times, a woman. That is where the sin begins; it’s made, not created by God.
God did not create us to be out of relationship with him. We do that to ourselves in untold human flesh ways until the day we die. That’s why Christ, sinless took on all our sins and overcame the penalty of sin with his risen life! Sin is a human decision of the will and God hates all sin.
Besides, God is a God of order. Impossible to be fruitful and multiply without a male and a female cell coming together to create life. That’s just science. God created science too but people seem to forget that the creator of the universe did it ALL.
All that being said, hate the sin but love the sinner. I can’t be the judge. That’s Gods job.
Satan doesn’t want us to be fruitful and multiply. That’s why he creates and promotes gays, bith control, abortion, etc. He is against everything God is for.
This is so obvious that it is astonishing that anyone over 12 with a functioning brain could think anything else. But the liars and miscreants in 90% of the laughably called “mainstream media” sell the idea 24 hours a day.
As you probably know, the first “throuple” is going to have a wedding ceremony somewhere in the United States shortly (unless it has already happened). Soon we will have quouples, and quinples and people marrying horses and sheep, or maybe one or more of each, while the Supreme Court gazes benignly at the whole mess. After all, the US Constitution does not mention anything about marriage, so the bottom of the sewer is the limit. But with Satan, there is no bottom.
Lord, may we never deviated from the truth of your word, but help us to show the love of Jesus Christ to those who don’t know you him as Savior yet. We have to remember that we were once far away and lost too, until we came to saving faith. Thank you Lord for loving us so much that you didn’t leave us the way we were.
My prayer for the gay/lesbian is that they would turn from their sin and turn to God who will likewise pardon their sin pick up their cross and follow Him. Jesus is the only way. repentance is the way to Him. Like any temptation we must submit to God, resist the devil and he will flee.. all sin
not just that of the gay lifestyle.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
I read an article a while ago by a Christian leader who condemned the church for the rampant sexual immorality in the world and it made a lot of sense to me. If we, the church, would be more about our Fathers business the world has no choice but to follow us. It’s our love that transforms the world and we haven’t lived well. Every sin would be dealt a deadly blow if we all united in our Father’s plans to save the world. Preach, pray, teach, evangelize and do it in love always turning the other cheek and always forgiving. Let’s do our part to the best of our ability through the power of Holy Spirit church. Love works.

I agree with you Rose on the Love message, BUT it had better be Gods Love and not man’s love or earthly ways. God loved enough to confront the sin, to reveal the sin according to His Father’s direction. He never did anything without prayer to the Father. Sometimes love (Gods Way) can hurt, can be repentance which means turn and go the other way, it can be hard, but in Him it can be done…. The church has been loving from a human perspective by not confronting, by not preaching the Word of God and revealing the consequences for our actions, not fighting the good fight of Jesus Christ. His love was free, He gave it all, His Love works, not man’s or worldly ways of Love. I love the church, I believe that Gods plan for the church spells victory, but I also see how the church lost it’s way by not preaching the TRUTH, by trying to love in a worldly manner. Jesus loves the church – it’s His Body. It seems to me that to condemn it is to condemn Him. Let us be careful what we say.
I Pray that the gay spirit the ones that experiencing that demonic spirit that is created by the devil; I command it to be loose and evicted out of their Spirit; Soul and Body/Heart in the name of JESUS NOW.
pray against that spirit of homosexuaIity, it actually comes off of people when you pray, it usually comes on children that have been molested has children or treated badly.
I agree with you Ed. I know many who are gay and all of them have been molested, raped or abused by a parent, uncle, brother, someone they know close to them, who betrayed them. They suffer because of what has been done to them. I pray that we acknowledge their hurt feelings, love them and hope that they see the Light of the Lord, Jesus.
Moreover, too many times the people that hurt them have prominent positions in church and community. Not blaming the churches or the communities, but in the eyes of (especially the young ones) the victim of these horrible abuses, they sometimes imagine God to be complicit with what has happened, because after all these people are recognized in God’s house as leaders and righteous people as well as in the community at large, unfortunately.
In defense of the church, a lot of people wear more than one face and you are sometimes simply unaware.
Again, unfortunately, even when some churches are aware they look the other way because Mr or Miss “so and so” are pillars in the community and may write large checks. Victims are left to scratch their heads in sheer hurt, pain, and confusion. They then seek solace wherever it can be found. After all God must love them more than he loves me, right?
What does “read more” have to do with the issue of TRUTH. Either we hear the Holy Spirit speak to us regarding sin in our life or we ignore what the Word of God teaches and follow the leadings of our own heart. Scripture is very clear on the issue of a gay lifestyle, His Word is truth and should separate us as a believer from the world culture. God has given us His Son and His BLOOD brings cleansing as we confess to Him sin in our life. Isaiah 59:2 says ” Your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.” Sin is anything that causes us to be “separated from God”. Anything that is “not of faith”{ Romans14:23}. ” Nothing separates us from the love of God{ Romans8:35-39, but sin will clog or cover the Life of God in us from being lived out in our lives. The CROSS was enough, when Jesus shed His Precious Blood for the forgiveness of all our unrighteousness it was finished and as we make choices in our life that line up with His Word, He has left us His Holy Spirit who will give us the power to be an overcomer ” for we walk out our salvation with fear and trembling, but knowing that the Spirit of God in us wills to do His good pleasure.” May, we who believe in Jesus as LORD and Savior choose to honor God with faith choices that honor Him and not the sins of our flesh. We don’t need science to validate the truths of His Word. Loving God with all our heart not only means asking Him into our life, but it also means to allow His Life in our heart to be the motivation for all we choose to do. This is not an easy task but He has given to us Jesus cleansing BLOOD and His Holy Spirit to accomplish this and to overcome sin. God be with us as we continue to walk in this life and bring restoration, healing and deliverance to your people and to a lost world, ” for You so loved the world that You gave Your only Son, that who should believe would have eternal life.” It truly is enough for us to be overcomers in Christ.

Unfortunately what may appear to be such a “black and white” issue isn’t for many who are tormented with this. Sure your comment applies to some. However many are spiritually and / or environmentally born into it. For them, homosexual tendencies may be all they have ever known for reasons they don’t understand.
In these cases, life becomes very confusing for them.

This study is absolutely wrong. Evil spirits CAN and often DO influence a person while still in the womb and / or they begin influencing a person so early in their life that they don’t remember NOT having homosexual thoughts.
Either way, this understandably causes people to conclude that they WERE born that way which, in many cases, they are correct in that, or they honestly don’t remember being any other way.
Granted, it is not in their physical genetics, but rather their “spiritual” genetics. However, NOONE could possibly discern the difference under those conditions.
These same principles CAN apply to every aspect of life.

However, that is not the title of the actual article it is linked to nor does the original article say that.
The original article itself seems very specific in addressing what the title of the article indicates which is “Massive Study Finds No Single Genetic Cause of Same-Sex Sexual Behavior”. It seems that the article itself could certainly be useful for some purposes.

Lord please help people who want to stop living a gay life to stop it right now. Some want to stop but can’t.

Glory to God! So true Harry Smith! There are things here being prayed daily , but fail to check off I’ve prayed! The percentage doesn’t determined who prayed or didn’t pray!
It is interesting to note only 10% of those who “read more” actually prayed.
