I received a troubling message this week from an intercessor who used to live in Dayton, Ohio 10 years ago as an outreach worker. One night she and her co-worker were canvassing that very area downtown when the Lord showed her that a mass shooting was going to happen in that district in the future. She even saw the pile of shoes:
“I saw the picture…and told him there would be a mass shooting there. I saw those shoes piled up in a heap. My co-worker said, ah, that won’t happen…the police are stationed right here in the district. And dismissed what I saw. I stood there and prayed against it. I prayed for a quick response from the police.”
She went on to say that, had she asked her church to pray about this, they would have thought she was crazy. For various reasons, she felt no one took her seriously and found no agreement for prayer. That was ten years ago.
When she wrote me on the day of the shootings, she had been weeping all day feeling the grief of this tragedy that may have been averted had her prophetic unction been taken seriously. Thankfully, I believe her lone prayer reached heaven because the police response was quick – exactly what she had prayed for!
For thus the Lord said to me: “Go, set a watchman; let him announce what he sees.” (Isaiah 21:6 ESV)
God surely does speak to His people and reveals secrets and strategic intelligence to those who listen. The question is, do we recognize them? How do we tell them apart from the false alarms? There are many voices crying wolf these days with no fruit and no indication they’ve heard a pure word from the Lord. Then there are those like this – authentic alerts that come from heaven – and go unheeded, with tragic results.
I suggest we need more corporate clarity when it comes to discerning Holy Spirit’s voice. We need to walk in the fear of the Lord when we do consider sharing a possible warning and then respond through prayer. We don’t necessarily have to broadcast it – it only takes a few to come together in agreement. Know that even your own simple prayer has great power to avert the darkness and bring aid, just as this intercessors’ prayer did!
Let’s pray that we will have the eyes and ears of good watchman and rightly discern the voice of the Holy Spirit. Let’s pray that we would discern between true warnings and false alarms. Let’s pray that those who receive these alerts would sound the alarm with wisdom and courage. Let’s pray that, together, we will have greater corporate clarity in order to recognize and heed the watchman’s voice when it truly counts.

I agree. Father, your Word says you do nothing without first telling your servants, the prophets. We believe you are warning the prophets in the Body of the plans of the enemy. Give us greater discernment to hear You clearly, and to understand the warning. Wake up the rest of the Body to watchfulness and alertness so we can be interceding for our communities! In Jesus’ Name we pray!
Lord, Your time is closing in, the evil one is pushing back and we see its manifestations everywhere we look, and no where more saddening than for brother against brother taking on the social arguments of the day. As the satanist and their strategies are being exposed having one of their key puppetmasters suicided in jail last week, we know their plans to distract will be ratcheting up. So for the watchman, if u see something say something! Evil wants to divide us, but no greater time than this to come together. We must remember the prayers of the Puritans before they set sail for this country, remember the tyranny they were escaping and we must remember why our Founding Fathers gave us the 2nd ammendment, no more and no less important than the 1st or the 4th. Let us head their warning, and let us remain ONE nation under God, dont let is be divided except for how You shall divide the wheat from the tares, as You blow the chaff of evil and its intent from the face of the Earth. We ask You to gather us for Your Glory in Jesus mighty name that we serve one another, being salt and light to this dark world, and may nothing of evil intent remain hidden. Expose it where it lurks, in the halls of justice, in our schools, in our church buildings, in our civic organizations, signal the beacon, that we may and seek Your will, for in all things You find purpose as You use sin sinlessly.

As watchmen, we must prophesy! But as Christians, we must also take a stand against evil in any and all forms. The Bible says, “the enemy comes to kill, still and destroy! Assault weapons kill in massive numbers, this evil! All Christians should abandon partisan political party positions and take a stand for LIFE! Are we as Christians truly pro-life? All life is important! All life was created by God! I pray that God will show us the error of our ways, and bring us to revival! Amen

While I agree with most of what you said, it is not “assault” weapons that are to blame. Any object, instrument can be used to take life. Cain used a rock to kill Able.
The reason for all the terrible trouble is Evil. Satan is the prince of the world, however, God is in control and more powerful than he. Therefore, we must submit to His will and pray for His guidance and protection from the devil. All things are possible for God.
John Waltz- I agree evil is manifested in many forms. One of ways evil is currently being manifested in our society is mass murder with assault weapons. I strongly and respectfully disagree with you and others who oppose the ban. But this is a prayer site, so let’s agree to disagree, pray and “Do Something” to help stop the evil of gun violence in our country.

I’m praying for a tsunami in the Spirit to sweep across our country and saturate every person within our borders so that His will may be done in the U.S. as it is in Heaven! I’m also asking the Lord to keep reminding me how powerful my words are – Life AND death are in the power of the tongue! What if every Christian in the U.S. only spoke words of life and did not agree with any divisive, angry, condemning words? It’s the loving kindness of God that calls ALL men to repentance – command a blessing!

May our Heavenly Father raise up faithful watchmen who are not afraid to speak the truth. These times are very dark and filled with demonic activity throughout our nation. We need to call on the Lord to pull down the strongholds of the enemy and restore and renew hearts so that we can stand against evil. I pray that God will raise up an army of watchmen and intercessors to do battle for souls.
Amen. I pray in agreement. The dark forces are gaining strength, but the Power of Pray in the Holy Spirit is more powerful. May GOD’S Will be done. Rise up prayer warriors! Use your weapons. The battle belongs to The LORD. Come Lord Jesus.
Lord, help us to hear, listen and act even when it seems “nuts”. Comfort this intercessor. She probably didn’t fall short, others weren’t listening to her. Bless her continued intercession. May she feel enveloped in Your love.

I pray for confirmation in Scripture when I receive a word or even a dream for understanding. Once confirmed I have learned not to own the word given me & merely speak it in obedience where opportunity is given us & let God take over from there. I try not to take offense if not received & pray that God will reveal the Truth.

If you read in the OT, often the prophet’s warning from God was ignored. You still speak. But God gives every opportunity, and we still speak even when no one listens.
On October 7, 2018, the Lord spoke to me that in 15 days, it would begin. Words and visions and such. I even wrote D-day on my calendar for October 22. This is the very short version of this story. I did pray and pray and pray and shared with others and we prayed. October 22 is the day that they found the first unexploded b*mb from Cesar Sayoc. They were 16 total and NO ONE was hurt. I had many visions that told me how to pray during that time. The Lord was merciful and heard and answered our prayers. It was a miracle.

Lord help us to go set a watchman. May every neighborhood have people who watch and people who pray and people who watch and pray for protection. May we be vigilant over our neighbors. May we see and hear what doesn’t belong. When someone sees something that needs reporting may they call the police. I pray You Lord watch over us. In the powerful name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

Unless we are told approximately when an event is going to occur, preparing for or preventing it is extremely difficult. Too often prophecies are vague or so far in advance there is no way anyone can do anything about them. The most that could/should have been done in that Dayton prophecy is get a church to take it seriously enough to pray against it and then just give it to God since no one knew when or how such a horrific event would occur.
