I Prayed have prayed
Lord, thank you for the many blessings you have bestowed on this great country. Help us to remain grateful and humble as we in turn bless others.

More than 6.2 million individuals dropped off food stamps since President Donald Trump completed his first full month in office, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The most recent USDA data shows that 6,268,285 individuals discontinued their participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)— the program in charge of food stamps— since February 2017 when Trump finished his first month as president. Individual and household food stamp participation has consistently declined since 2013 back when the Obama administration was in power and enrollment in the program reached its highest point in U.S. history.

After 2013, SNAP enrollment plunged once state legislatures passed laws requiring food stamp recipients to work, attend school, volunteer, or participate in job training for at least 20 hours per week to receive benefits. Food stamp participation plummeted even further once President Trump took office, as 6.2 million individuals and 2.7 million households dropped out of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) since his first full month in office.

There are currently 36,029,506 individuals and 18,230,968 households enrolled in the food stamp program, but USDA officials said those numbers are “preliminary” due to the 2018 government shutdown, which affected food stamp administration at the beginning of 2019.

Trump has stated that he wants to curb the nation’s dependency on food stamps and wants those coming into the country to be self-sufficient.

The president told Breitbart News in an Oval Office interview that he does not want any immigrants coming into the U.S. to be dependent on welfare programs. “I don’t want to have anyone coming in that’s on welfare,” Trump told Breitbart News in March.

The Trump administration also recently released several policies that would close loopholes for those taking advantage of the nation’s food stamp program. The USDA issued a proposal in July that would close a “loophole” allowing 3.1 million people who already receive benefits from a non-cash welfare program to receive food stamps through SNAP.

The Trump administration also released a “public charge rule” last month which would deny green cards to immigrants or make it harder for them to obtain them if they have a history of using welfare benefits such as food stamps.

I was told yesterday by an advocate that 30% of young military recruits are paid so little a family of four need food stamps.
People on these programs are not allowed to purchase booze or nicotine. Only specific products brands and sizes are allowed and very limited quantities. Of the kids spill the gallon of milk while messing around- too bad you don’t go get more.

So many mis-conceptions. Prayer for so many struggling for a multitude of reasons.Psalm 23

In my state specific brands are not required for the food stamp program. The WIC program (Women Infants and Children) does have specific items and brands.

I was with a man that yelled, “go to work” at a panhandler. The man had a disabled vet sign and one arm and one leg but in a wheelchair….

I pray for those who need stamps, but ask God to bind those who are cheating. There are both.

Lord, my prayer is that the resources of our great nation would be used so that people are helped in a meaningful way; may we help those who are unable to help themselves and also those who have fallen into a life of addiction and who use their benefits not to feed their children but to buy more drugs. Not one child in our country should have to go to bed hungry. May our churches, who have always taken the lead in helping our communities use their time, talents and gifts to help those around them and may that work be in tandem with government tax dollars and be used in a way to make a REAL difference, through the proclaiming the name of Jesus, who is the only one who can truly heal and feed us.

“If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” Thessalonians 3:10

Our resources should be dedicated to those who CAN NOT work, not those who can and choose not to.

Praise God for sending us a modern day Cyrus!

I believe in senior citizens, veterans, mentally disabled, physically disabled, women/men who are divorced and/or husband deceased who have limited income from her/his employer and are raising school age children should be the ones at the top of the participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). I also agree with the Trump administration recent release a “public charge rule” last month which would deny green cards to immigrants or make it harder for them to obtain them if they have a history of using welfare benefits such as food stamps.

Thank God for state legislatures which passed work, school or volunteer requirements for taking
food stamps. Thank God for President Trump’s economic reform program which provides the private sector jobs for American citizens.
