NEW UK STARBUCKS AD FEATURES TRANSGENDER YOUTH

Lord, we lift up anyone who is struggling with gender identity. We pray they will find their way to You Lord.

Starbucks has launched a new transgender-friendly commercial and campaign that will benefit a controversial British charity that supports overturning the age limit when children can receive cross-sex hormones.

The #WhatsYourName campaign features an ad showing a transgender boy being called “Jemma” by friends and acquaintances until arriving at a Starbucks, where an employee asks, “And what’s your name?”

“James,” the transgender boy answers.

The employee then writes “James” on the cup.

Starbucks says the campaign “celebrates this signature act” of a name change and “was inspired by real-life experiences of people who were transitioning.”

“We discovered that they found Starbucks stores to be a safe space, where their new name was accepted, and they could be recognized as who they are,” a Starbucks press release said.

But the #WhatsYourName campaign has drawn criticism for Starbucks’ partnership with Mermaids, a London-based charity that “supports gender-diverse children and young people until their 20th birthday,” according to its website. Starbucks hopes to raise at least £100,000 for Mermaids.

Mermaids has been the source of criticism in the United Kingdom and even within UK mainstream media for its push to overturn the nationwide ban on children under 16 receiving opposite-sex hormones.

“Basing it on an age is completely inappropriate,” Susie Green, head of Mermaids, told The Guardian in 2016. “We believe it should be in line with the young person’s maturity and their ability to understand what’s involved and the implications of what treating and not treating are.”

The effects of cross-sex hormones can be irreversible, and doctors in the UK who support the current policy say children, when they mature, might grow up to regret taking hormones.

National Review’s Madeleine Kearns, who was raised in Scotland, said Mermaids “peddles dangerous nonsense to vulnerable children and families, using the ultimate emotional blackmail of suicide.”

Kearns notes that Green “took her own gender-confused son, Jack, to Thailand when he was sixteen to have his penis removed,” a procedure “that is illegal in Britain and now illegal in Thailand.”

“Before this surgery, Jack had gone on puberty blockers at age 13 which stunted his development,” Kearns wrote.

Starbucks will sell a special edition “Mermaid Cookie” to raise funds for the charity. Kearns called the campaign “shameful.”

“This campaign,” Kearns wrote, “furthers an agenda that violates basic safeguarding, fosters secrecy, and sets children down the path to irreversible harm. The word ‘evil’ is overused nowadays. But using corporate power to persuade vulnerable youngsters to reject their own bodies is exactly that.”

  1. Our nation and culture are being led by emotion, by feekings. Satan appealed to Eve through emotion undermining facts by encouraging her to feel “left out” because God told her and Adam not to eat of a particular tree. This ad is very well designed to tug at our heartstrings – a vulnerable young person dealing with conflicting thoughts and emotions.

We must pray for discernment, and a commitment to the truth, combined with compassion for those who have been misled through being taught to think with their emotions (if it FEELS right) rather than in accordance with God’s truth.

  2. Father- In Romans 1 your Word speaks of a powerful delusion. It speaks of the consequences of turning from you and doing what is right in our own eyes.Help us as the church to truly walk in your ways and to be like the men of Issachar who understood the times and what must be done. Guide us as we speak into these issues in our culture. Help us to love each person and to love you more so we are willing to stand even if it hurts. Keep us from caving into the world and joining in the lies. Rather may we be bold, loving witnesses for you.Help pastors to teach your Word without apology and with complete dependence on Your Spirit. Please Lord, deliver us from a spirit of fear, self righteousness and worldliness. Instead fill us with your Spirit and open doors of opportunity to engage with people so they might hear the truth and be brought from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light. May your name be glorified in your people.

  4. I posted this earlier. It’s a prayer I’m praying every day.
Let’s all comment to praying daily, for two weeks, for the LGBTQ+ population. Let’s ask the LORD to give them a week of spiritual reprieve beginning Sunday, Feb 16. Week 1: pray to that the enemy’s influence be silenced during the following week. Week 2: Offer more intersession, praise, and worship. Let blind eyes be opened and the shackles fall.

    PRAYER POINTS

-That there be no demonic influences on them from Sunday the 16th through Sunday the 23rd
-That they would find godly, trustworthy influences
-The Holy Spirit and holy angels would speak God’s word, and beautiful affirmations to them during this time

-That the chains of the enemy would fall away
-That they would be free, and each would serve the LORD with their whole heart and lead multitudes to Him.

Please share this with others. It’s time for God’s glory to shine in America!

  5. Lord you made them male or female and they are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image. (Psalm 139:13-16) Lord I pray that You would bind Satan and his followers from having negative influence over our children and grandchildren. Lord I place the full armor of God around all our children and I ask You to have the commercials, broadcasts, teaching at our schools or peer pressure rendered powerless falling on deaf ears and their eyes blinded to the material, videos or exposure in the World to the transgender, homosexual agendas. Lord in the ackwardness of adolescent changes protect them from concussion and vulnerability. Lord the greatest need is for them to know their Creator and repent of their sins and ask Jesus into their lives.i pray You would take back the ground we have given to the enemy. Lord bring Repentance and Revival to this World. In Jesus name I ask. Amen
