Denver Post columnist says he was fired after disputing the idea that there are more than two sexes.

Jon Caldara, president of the libertarian Independence Institute, announced that he has been fired from the Post, chalking it up to “a difference in style” that his editors found “too insensitive.”

“My column is not a soft voiced, sticky sweet NPR-styled piece which employs the language now mandated by the victim-centric, identity politics driven media,” he said in a Facebook post. “What seemed to be the last straw for my column was my insistence that there are only two sexes and my frustration that to be inclusive of the transgendered (even that word isn’t allowed) we must lose our right to free speech.”

Caldara criticized an Associated Press directive saying that sex and gender are not binary. “There are only two sexes, identified by an XX or XY chromosome. That is the very definition of binary. The AP ruling it isn’t so doesn’t change science. It’s a premeditative attempt to change culture and policy. It’s activism,” he wrote on Jan. 3. In a column two weeks later, Caldara also railed against a 2019 Colorado law that required elementary school children to be instructed in transgender ideology.

“Some parents weren’t thrilled a couple of years back when during school their little ones in Boulder Valley School District were treated to videos staring [sic] a transgender teddy bear teaching the kids how to misuse pronouns or when Colorado’s ‘Trans Community Choir’ sang to kids about a transgender raven,” Caldara wrote. “What are the protections for a parent who feels transgender singing groups and teddy bears with gender dysphoria might be ‘stigmatizing’ for their kid?”

Caldara said that he was fired by the paper’s editorial page editor, Megan Schrader, according to an interview with Westword published Monday.

“Megan told me I was the page’s most-read columnist. But there’s now a permanently and perpetually offended class, and in order to speak, you need to use their terminology. There’s a whole lot of you-can’t-say-that-ism going on right now.”

In an email to the Washington Free Beacon, Schrader confirmed that she fired Caldara but declined to discuss the reason.

“I am writing a job description as we speak to fill his position,” she said. “I hope that conservative Colorado writers will apply knowing that we value conservative voices on our pages and don’t have a litmus test for their opinions.”

C. S. Lewis foresaw this day coming (manipulation of words to control a society) when he wrote the book That Hideous Strength.
Thank You, God, that You are sovereign and far above all schemes, plots, strategies and attacks of the enemy. Let the light of Your truth shine into the minds and hearts of those who have been deceived.
Bless Mr. Caldara and others who are speaking truth with protection, provision, and power to advance Your Kingdom.
In Jesus name we ask for Your intervention. Amen.

Our Father in Heaven, I pray that you would open a greater door for Mr. Caldara. Too, I pray that good people would cease to support media who oppose YOUR Truth. In JESUS NAME, Amen.

The statement above is very sad and actually crumbling areas of our nation. My sister volunteered to help in her local school and found conditions impossible. The children sit in front of TV monitors all day instead of teacher class interaction. Teachers sit in the room of unruly children that cannot be addressed. If a child is disruptive even the gentlest redirection given, is met with accusations of racism and hatred by the studen, which is often followed by a parental call to school official complaining harassment. These children have been mentored by a system of offense and now use it to be untouchable. They cannot read, self regulate or acquire necessary life skills. Teachers are in a system of watchers, sitting at their desks til these children are passed onto the next set of babysitters. The negative environment has taken its toll on everyone. Teachers either leave or are simply numbed and silenced by the culture and mark time each day. We must find another way to deal with differing views instead of simply trying to erase them. Being offended has become a buzz word and trying to write a life script void of the challenges in it is like writing a fair tale that has “no happily ever after.” It is NOT about the offence. It will come as life is full of opportunities to be so. It is learning we have a voice for expression, but we also have an obligation to honor and respect when others use theirs. We cannot demand the right to be heard and in the same breath deny it. Growing a culture that cries “Wolf” every time you think someone has stepped on your toes is an extremely immature and crippling life position. Building a world on the idea that expressing differences is hateful and unacceptable is a destructive legacy to leave and I know we can do better. We must.

    Excellent observations.
I was raised to believe that the world did not revolve around me.
We now are raising generations of snowflakes.

Funny, just yesterday I was filling out a online church application for a seminar. It was for a well known ministry. When it came to which sex I am, it asked what gender I am. I have refused for some time to use the political word gender when filling out a form. If it is written, I will cross it out and replace it with sex. If it is online I will either not fill it out at all or will leave a comment. So I did not fill it out and sent the church an email explaining why. I consider this a confirmation that I was correct in writing to the church about this matter.
Joe Caldara, I pray you wipe the dust off your feet and continue standing up for what you know is right and proper. I pray the editor that fired his a revelation in her conscience of her actions. I ask God to grant you employment quickly, and at a business that will value you and appreciate you and that allows dessent of opinion and values free thought and speech.

I’m proud that you stood up for the truth even though people are in denial of it. When you got fired writing the truth people heard the voice of Christ in you and that is who they wanted to silence. Keep being bold and courageous because we need more people like you. God’s voice must be heard throughout America and it begins with you and me. God Bless America!

Don, Katie Kay: when reading, echoing your prayers in my mind, the lyrics of the song “Sing a little louder, in the presence of my enemies” also came thru. May our God bring this journalist and others facing discrimination because of You, into even more dark areas to give a breath of fresh air.

Lord, I pray that You elevate
John Caldara to the top of the media mountain so that Your heart can be heard throughout the land through his voice.
Your word says that you will be blessed when you are persecuted for Your name.
Bless John real good, give him a louder voice so that Your truth will be heard loud and clear to an even larger audience!

Your word also says to pray for your enemies. So in obedience we pray for all leaders within the mountain of media that You would bring great conviction over them to know You in the most intimate way. Bless them to really know You. Lift the blinders from deceived hearts and bring forth Your heart through them just as You have through John Caldara’s boldness and convictions!

John Caldara is the voice of reason in the Denver metro and Colorado area. The Denver Post is not but as the Post’s most read columnist, seems the Post is again shooting themselves in the foot by firing him. He lives in Boulder, not the most conservative city in Colorado and has a weekly show on Denver Public TV, at least for now.

A voice of one crying in the desert, his column will be missed.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Martin Niemöller

Thank you John Caldera for speaking out.

Dear Lord thank for for everything. Thank You that most people most of the time know there are two genders. May this madness of political correctness finally run its course. May people wake up and see that our freedom of speech is being attacked. I pray this in the name if Jesus Christ. Amen.
