In prophetic intercession, the Spirit of God pleads the covenant promises made throughout history to be enacted in our day.
This inspired form of intercession is the urge to pray, given by the Holy Spirit, for a situation or circumstance about which you may have little natural knowledge. But you are praying the prayer request that is on the heart of God.
As much as any time in history, it is time for believers in Jesus to take up the call to pray what is in the heart of God to be enacted for this generation!
How Does Prophetic Intercession Work?
He nudges you to pray so that He can intervene. The Holy Spirit Himself directs you to pray in a divine manner to bring forth His will on earth as it already is in heaven.
In other words, prophetic intercession is the ability to receive a prayer request from God and pray it back to Him. God’s hand comes on you, and He imparts His burden to you.
Prophetic intercession is not as much praying to God as it is praying with God!
Oh my! What a difference! Your God-inspired, God-directed intercession is powerful and effective.
Prophetic intercessors do not take those little plastic “promise boxes” with Bible verses inside and randomly select a verse to pray through. Instead, they combine waiting, listening and reading the Scriptures with letting the Holy Spirit remind them of the particular promise that is on His heart at that moment.
They let God’s heartbeat pulse in their own beings.
Prophetic intercession pleads for the maturity of the body of Christ—that the society of redeemed mankind would expand to the ends of the earth. It is the place where the priest and prophet unite, calling “for the earth [to] be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the seas” (Hab. 2:14).
Three Definitions of Prophetic Intercession
- Prophetic intercession is the ability to receive an immediate prayer request from God and pray about it in a divinely anointed utterance.
- Prophetic intercession is waiting before God in order to “hear” or receive God’s burden (God’s Word, His concern, warning, conditions, vision or promises), responding back to the Lord and then to the people with appropriate actions.
- Prophetic intercession is not as much praying to God as it is praying with God. We let go of our agendas and we take the time to receive the desires that are in God’s heart. Thus, prophetic intercession (revelatory prayer) is praying with God!

On August 2, 2017 the Holy Spirit directed me to Ps. 21 and gave me a prophetic prayer:
President Trump sits in office where You have placed him. He declares, IN GOD WE TRUST! Through the mercy of the Most High
he shall not be moved.
Those who intend evil against him and have imagined a mischievous device they are not able to perform!
In Jesus Name and for God’s Glory,

Alex, those are truly the important keys to the Heart of His Leading us in prayer as He intercedes for us and with us. As a group of us were praying in the Capitol conference room in Topeka, and we started our prayers for President Trump and the impeachment beginnings, the Lord gave me PHILIPPIANS 1:19(NIV) to give as a prophetic prayer of encouragement. After many had prayed, there was a pause that I knew was for this verse to be proclaimed this way: “I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to [President Trump] will turn out for [his] deliverance! THANK YOU, LORD, FOR YOUR DELIVERANCE!!!”
I pray Psalm 94 over our Nation especially vs; 22=23. It fits perfectly.

What a privilege it is to pray WITH You, in addition to praying to You. May we as Christians have a burden for the lost, the homeless, the sick, those without hope. Thank You for all that You are, and for all that You have done. You alone are worthy!!

Yes! Amen! Years ago I was at a church praying with them for the City, nations, the whole world ! We were in a circle , joined hand in hand . The Lord pulled me to the floor and I went prostate. His Spirit fell upon me and He showed me a sinner and I started weeping. Each sinner He showed me , I wept uncontrollably till I was empty of tears . He showed me a vision . He was on the mercy seat and there were stairs .
At the bottom of the stairs , I was on the left and there were 2 on the other side . (The 3 represents in Spirit.) Then it split in half , then there was a violent rain . Mercy in Hebrew is violent rain . Then Revival!
He showed me and gave me a deep burden for souls . I wish I could say I would weep every time , but I cant. Because of the condition of my heart . When Iam in the Spirit, I weep ! Weeping for souls this day because the days are more evil than ever before . We need to weep for mercy for the people ! I sense the urgency more . I must enter into intercession , we must!
God has shown me many visions , but this one I believe God is imploring us to weep for His people ! The last of the Harvest !

This week I woke up around 3am so I just took my bible and started with all the psalms of praise to God, I went back to bed around 5am and I think is a revelation from God or in the dream this heavy rain and wind was hitting my window and I went to look at it. I w as wandering what it meant, but know reading your prayer it’s clear to me. I been praying for this country, people and president Trump.No person or president is going to be 100% right, because only God is perfect, if God allow president Trump to be our president he has a purpose for itand only God knows what for, but people are being stubborn and not seeking God for answers.
I have a real “witness” in my spirit concerning your testimony for mercy and intercession for lost souls. About an hour ago, I became a little weepy for my daughter and the need for intercession on her behalf. Your comments were such a confirmation & encouragement! Thank you so much! May God give us His heart as we intercede for others that we may see awakening and revival come to our land! To God be the glory!

Thank you for this. I can see God leading me in this direction. This is are the practical steps toward this type of a prayer life. We are to press into the will, purposes and plans of God for His Kingdom. Yes- we are to be so intently listening, that we pray what is on His heart. This is what the Bride of Christ will be doing at His return. Thank you again.
Yes, Since Jesus delegated His authority to the Church
He is waiting for us to request the intervention of God on the earth so His will can be done ! Some would ask what are practical steps we can take to be led of the Holy Spirit in this way ? There are some simple keys.
#1 Be filled with the Holy Spirit , as on the day of Penticost .
#2 Acknowledge the Holy Spirit and His leading and guiding our prayer ,
#3 Wait on the direction of the Holy Spirit while spending time worshiping God . Remember the old testament priests were required to appear before the altar of incense (worship ) Before praying for others , Also Rev 8:4 ( it also helps to pray and sing in the spirit during this waiting period.
#4 when the Holy Spirit steps in go with the flow of His prophetic revelation !
