Mike Emanuel . . . A chief congressional correspondent for Fox News, Emanuel told Faithwire he picked up his passion for politics “through osmosis.” Now, he is living his “dream,” though the job comes with its own unique set of challenges.
Emanuel grew up going to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Westfield, New Jersey, where he attended Sunday school and regularly participated in services. Because of that, faith became “a central part” of Emanuel’s life. . . .
Having covered a tumultuous round of President Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees and currently reporting on the impeachment proceedings, which will soon pick up again in the U.S. Senate, Emanuel has worked hard to keep himself both grounded and motivated.
“It’s very tense times in our American politics and so I just try to take a breath and say a little prayer throughout the course of my day,” he said. “It doesn’t have to be anything too formal, but it really makes me feel calm and tranquil and peaceful; it’s a reminder of where I come from and what’s important in my life.”
Emanuel told Faithwire he often turns to the Greek Orthodox recitation commonly known as the “Jesus Prayer,” a one-sentence invocation that calls attention to our sinfulness and God’s goodness and grace.
The prayer is, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”
According to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the brevity of the prayer is rooted in Jesus’ words recorded in Matthew 6:7-8, when he told his disciples, “When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need before you ask him.” The prayer also rightly acknowledges our own brokenness in obedience with 1 John 1:8, which reads, “If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.”
“It helps me clear my head and stay grounded and focus on the mission at hand, which is doing the news as fairly and accurately as possible and kind of tuning out some of the other noise,” he continued. “It helps give me some peace in the middle of chaotic times and I’m grateful for it. It’s such a blessing in my life.”

So blessed to read about this Emanuel’s testimony…very simple and exemplary!
The prayer encapsules all: the Son,the Father and His humble trusting child. Reminds me someway of our Lord’s words, “Father, forgive them, they know not what they do.” echoed by Stephen in Acts 7. What an encouragement to find one committed to unbiased factual reporting. (He has an anointed name) I pray there are more journalists so committed to our Eternal One and true journalism. May our Lord strengthen him.
May GOD be praised for giving us men like this man. O, that many more men would follow his example, is my prayer today, In Jesus Name. Amen.
To echo the gratitude of other intercessors, I am humbled to hear of this wonderful man who is dedicated to impartiality and truth in reporting the news – a man who is fortified by his relationship and communion with GOD, the Father. Mr. Emmanuel, I would invite you to consider another scriptural passage that should also give you great peace and hope. The second book of Corinthians, Chapter 5 and verse 17 states: … if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of GOD, Who hath reconciled us to Himself by JESUS [the] Christ, …. 19 To wit, that GOD was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; 21 For He hath made HIM TO BE SIN FOR US, Who knew no sin; that WE might be MADE THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Him. [Emphasis added] PRAISE GOD for His transforming goodness, mercy and grace to call us SONS now that we have chosen to accept the propitiation/redemption offered by JESUS, the Christ. We praise Him that when we were sinners, He came after us with love and desire for us to be restored to His family, welcoming us and rejoicing at our conversion. Now when we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness and He even is faithful to FORGET our sins, as well as to forgive them. Now we are no longer viewed by GOD as sinners, but as sons, the righteousness of GOD in Christ JESUS, the “beloved,” totally new creatures, Christ’s body, His temple, His bride and so much more…oh, what a SAVIOR!!
In am thankful for a news reporter who prays and takes time to humble himself and try to noise out the rattle
snakes of Satan. God has people in the city and darkness will be voided out where ever light is . If we as Christians just let our light shine and dont put our light under a bushel, I believe as the Bible says our enemies will scatter and be destroyed. I dont me people be destroyed i mean the evil in them shall be removed by the power of GOD . Praise God FOR the good news that is the word of God good news and all other news
should derive from the Holly Book or not at all. God Bless Emanuel for his good upbringing and his foundation of truth which he is choosing to stand on, any other kind of News is quick sand and will not be a solid ground OR WORTH LISTENING TOO.
What a wonderful testimony from Mr. Emanuel and what a wonderful last name! Many of our intercessors leaders are encouraging us to fast and “pray in the Spirit much” as the sham trial starts and through out the process. I agree, and along with this wonderful and powerful prayer, we can go about our duties, praying with out ceasing every day. During this day and time, we are our Lord’s hands and feet to hold President’s Trump’s arms up as the battle rages. Also, we could pray as well, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on this nation, that has sinned greatly.”
Speaking the name of Jesus as a prayer is powerful!
God bless this man and his family. Protect him, his family, and his Christian coworkers who seek to tell the full truth (rather than the lies the liberal media tries to report). May we all pray without ceasing.
This reminds me of the chorus of a song: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full in His wonderful Face and the things of earth will grow strangely dim…..in the light of His glory and grace!” It works throughout the day AND the night!
This is a prayer that each of us could and should say all day and every day because each of us is a sinner. But remember to mean the prayer when praying it. “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner.” Again, this is personal but we can change it to ask God to have mercy on our citizens for each one of us is a sinner.
