I Prayed have prayed
Lord God, we pray for Chick-fil-A leadership at the national and local levels. Draw them nearer to You, Lord Christ and help them in their work. Convict them where they are wrong and encourage them to not grow weary in well-doing according to Your Truth.

This week a BISNOW article reported the following:

“As Chick-fil-A expands globally and into more liberal parts of the U.S., the chicken chain plans to change which charities it donates to after years of bad press and protests from the LGBT community . . . After donating to more than 300 charitable organizations this year, the Atlanta-based fast-food chain will instead focus on three initiatives with one accompanying charity each: education, homelessness and hunger . . . The new initiative will no longer include donating to organizations like the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home, Chick-fil-A says, all of which sparked criticism in the past from the LGBT community due to the organizations’ stances on homosexuality.”

So what is going on here?

Before I became the President/CEO of Intercessors for America, I was a Vice President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). In that role, I frequently visited Chick-fil-A headquarters, interacting with their senior leadership and experiencing the overtly Christian culture. The Cathy family has clearly taken pride in building a service-oriented organization that emphasizes caring for all guests as Christ would care for them.

Chick-fil-A has grown from a regional company to become now the third largest privately held restaurant chain in the nation. The criticism this company has received in the past was unfounded. There were no hiring practices nor employment requirements that “discriminated” against anyone—quite the opposite. The accusations were founded on the personal religious views of Dan Cathy, not facts. Despite the criticism, the chain flourished and felt like a bastion of hope for evangelical Christians.

On November 18, Chick-fil-A released the following statement:

“Starting in 2020, the Chick-fil-A Foundation is introducing a more focused giving approach to provide additional clarity and impact with the causes it supports. Staying true to its mission of nourishing the potential in every child, the Chick-fil-A Foundation will deepen its giving to a smaller number of organizations working exclusively in the areas of education, homelessness and hunger.

Today we are excited to announce the Foundation has committed $9 million to the following initiatives for 2020:

Education: To support education, we are expanding our partnership with Junior Achievement USA (JA). JA offers kindergarten to 12th grade programs that foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. The organization reaches nearly 5 million students annually.

Homelessness: To address youth homelessness, we are expanding our partnership with Covenant House International. For more than four decades, Covenant House has helped transform and save the lives of more than a million homeless, runaway and trafficked young people – reaching 70,000 youth each year.

Hunger: To fight hunger, we will support more than 120 communities by dedicating $25,000 to a local food bank at each new Chick-fil-A opening.”

On the surface, Chick-fil-A has made a public decision to stop giving to two organizations that have biblical views on sex and marriage (Chick-fil-A Foundation gave $1.65 million in 2018 to FCA and the Salvation Army) and chose to focus on other organizations, one of which (Covenant House International) has the express purpose to be “welcoming, affirming, and safe for LGBTQ youth” and seems to have no religious affiliation.

Franklin Graham called Dan Cathy this week and asked if Chick-fil-A has compromised its biblical values. Here is what Graham concluded: “Dan was very clear that they have not bowed down to anyone’s demands, including the LGBTQ community. They will continue to support whoever they want to support. They haven’t changed who they are or what they believe. Chick-fil-A remains committed to Christian values. Dan Cathy assured me that this isn’t going to change.”

I do not doubt the sincerity of Franklin Graham or Dan Cathy, but deciding to give money to Covenant House instead of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes sure seems like a change. We have also learned the Executive Director of the foundation, Rodney D. Bullard, is a former White House fellow and Assistant US Attorney. Some may have mistaken him for a conservative because he was a fellow in the Bush Administration, but he was an Obama donor, and, more recently, had donated to Hillary Clinton’s campaign while at Chick-fil-A.

Through the years, I have personally known a number of owner/operators of local Chick-fil-A franchises. Without exception, these local owners have been some of the most wonderful Christian men and women I have ever met. These are people determined to care for their communities, train young workers, provide college scholarships, and support local Christian organizations. They all give locally, far in excess of the corporate funding. I can tell you that some owner/operators are feeling a sense of betrayal, especially since they received this news just minutes before the public release. Now their livelihood (and even reputation) is dragged into the spotlight because of a corporate decision. This is an unfair reality.

The ones I have talked to were stunned and still processing what this means. Some owner/operators immediately had regular guests telling them that they would never come to the store again. And yet, the culture at the local store level is one of the strengths of Chick-fil-A—godly, wonderful people serving Christ by serving their communities. The corporate decision is already affecting the local stores; the long-term effects are uncertain.

You will have to decide for yourself whether you are justified in feeling betrayed by the corporate Chick-fil-A giving strategy, as it does seem inconsistent with biblical values. But I am asking you to do this—the next time you go to Chick-fil-A, let the owner know that you are praying personally for him or her during this difficult time. Please don’t express anger or disappointment, just tell them you are praying for them. They need it.

Really, really disappointed in Chic-Fil-A’s decision to tear out pages of the Bible and use them as Chicken wrappers to serve those who do not regard the Word of God as Truth.

The Cathy family says they can do whatever they want with their profits, and yes, they have that right. However, so do we…. I am taking what I would normally spend on Chic-Fil-A every month, and I will instead donate that directly to the Christian organizations the Cathy family has abandoned, such as the Salvation Army.

No! I stand as a witness before God that the end does not justify the means. If Jesus is our Lord, we must obey what He says. We have in this situation a goal/end of being a witness to the world about God’s will regarding human sexuality and marriage. That does not justify making a public accusation of sin against Dan Cathy without meeting the scriptural guidelines; for example, without actual proof/witnesses of his motives and without speaking to him one-on-one ourselves, especially if he has said he did not cave in.

Now for all of IFA, here is Part 2 of 2:
I want all of you to enjoy God’s peace in all circumstances, including the one discussed on this page. God wants that too, for you to have His peace, even more than you or I want it. His Word is a priceless treasure to impart hope, to give us promises to hold on to, to allow us to experience the solid rock while America is under attack. Please open your Bibles to Ps. 46 and take a break to let God refresh you and encourage you. But for God’s Word to bear fruit in our lives, we have to remember that we are set apart for God and we need to consistently set apart some of the time God entrusts to us to allow God’s Word to change us and to put His Word into practice. For example, if we “rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances” (1 Thes 5), we can have joy in the current situation, aware that Jesus is Lord in it. Derek Prince gave a teaching called “God’s Medicine Bottle” that you might find inspiring in the area of allowing God’s Word into our lives and experiencing the healing promised in Proverbs 4:20-22. You might also find help in the book “Be Anxious for Nothing” by Joyce Meyer and a in a teaching by Derek Prince entitled, “That I may know Him.”

In 1973, God blessed me with the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and with that God blessed me with a delight in knowing that Jesus is Lord. I remember responding to a question in a church survey with the words, “The most important thing in every situation is the fact that ‘Jesus is Lord!'”. I said something like, the only way we have life and victory and success in any area is by letting Jesus be Lord in that area, follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, and acknowledging that the Lordship of Jesus is what matters most in that area. I quoted from Is. 11:9, “They do no hurt, no harm, on all My holy mountain, for the country is filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” I quoted from Rom 11:32 too, “God has imprisoned all men in their disobedience only to show mercy to all mankind.” If you want to read more about the Lordship of Jesus, see https://www.ifapray.org/blog/emergency-prayer-escalation-in-gaza/ , especially what others wrote. Every time we pray in supplication, we call on God to do what we cannot do.

Relative to Chick-fil-A, let’s utilize God’s Word to help us learn how God wants us to respond in this situation. Jesus gave clear teaching on how to respond in various controversies and situations including how to respond when we believe a brother has sinned. So please open your Bibles to Matthew 18:15-18. (Now I realize that at least one person on this page has not been satisfied with the approach of Franklin Graham.) But please bear with me. When you have read this passage, consider the question, “Does this sound at all like what Franklin Graham has done in the quotation in Part 1 of this essay? Did he talk to Mr. Cathy one-on-one before he made a public statement?”

Now skim over this web page. Nothing personal against anyone, but some of it looks like the kind of talk about others that we sometimes find on social media. Remember, we are in the Body of Christ, and we are called to a higher standard here than is customary in our culture. Now, you are free to disagree with me about anything I say, but what I want all of you to decide is what here reflects or does not reflect the teaching of Jesus? Perhaps no malice was involved, but it seems to me that at least one person has made a public statement on this page about Mr. Cathy without giving evidence of talking to him one-on-one.

But let’s look at more of what Jesus had to say in controversial situations, and you prayerfully consider what applies to this situation. Looking at Matthew 18:15-18 again and looking also at the quotation in Part 1, does it sound like Mr. Graham and Mr. Cathy talked about the matter? Does it sound like Mr. Cathy ‘listened to his brother’? Does Mr. Graham make any mention of treating anyone like a “pagan or a tax collector(betrayer)”? Is Mr. Graham more of an elder in the Body of Christ than any of us, deserving our humble respect as one of God’s anointed? Is it possible he not only listens to the words of Jesus but puts them into practice in a way we could all learn from?

Which of us can say, “I would never do anything sinful deliberately”? That would fly in the face of 1 John. Now please do not see the following question as a form of attack or manipulation, but consider the question of which of us could prove that any particular sentence on this page (including mine) was not composed in a sinful way. Unless the sentence was objectively slanderous or it was gossip or sinful in other ways, we could say that it would depend on whether the sentence was written with a sinful motive. By analogy, consider the question, which of us could prove that what Mr. Cathy or Chick-fil-A decided was sinful. Unless it was objectively sinful, it would depend on the motive. What proof do we have about the motive? We have the witness of Mr. Graham with the words of Mr. Cathy, and we have circumstantial evidence and appearances. The decision of Chick-fil-A would only demonstrate/prove a particular motive if there was only one possible motive. But consider the possibility that Mr. Cathy made a decision with motives that were based on the safety of some of his employees? Is it possible that after watching what happened in the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, Mr. Cathy wondered that ‘since Chick-fil-A was not a church, maybe it would be morally appropriate to take a step that was not objectively sinful that would move some of his employees further from a battle front that is getting increasingly hostile, much as a soldier might keep his children far from the battle front. Perhaps you can think of other explanations. (I have some more that I think are better.) Perhaps God has shown Mr. Cathy something in prayer that we are not aware of. Perhaps God wants us to be content with what we know for sure, content to not have proof of the motives, content to not have all the answers and not to be in control, content that God will work this “for good for those that love Him and are called according to His plan.” Perhaps we cannot honestly say we know for sure why Mr. Cathy acted as he did. Perhaps God has not given us the knowledge to make a public accusation of sin against a brother, on the internet stating as a fact that it was sin. And after all, in our country, is he not presumed to be innocent unless proven guilty? Perhaps those that feel betrayed by Chick-fil-A will be happier if they believe there is a possibility that Mr. Cathy did not “cave in” and a possibility that all that Mr. Graham reports that Mr. Cathy said is true.

Getting back to the Bible, does the Bible say appearances are enough to make an accusation of sin against a brother on the internet instead of face to face? Have we presented any new evidence or witnesses that would allow us to proceed as if we were “exposing darkness”? Is it possible that some of what we have exposed on this page is not the scriptural approach? How about we do a Bible Study on the word “judge”? Would that do you more good than if I just post the scriptures? How about we take the opportunity to humble ourselves, seek Christian unity, and ask Franklin Graham to lead the study. If we humble ourselves, God will exalt us, and that may turn out to be a pretty good deal. And if Mr. Graham says “No” or if we cannot get a consensus, maybe we could get someone from Derek Prince Ministries to lead the study. In any case, let’s stand for Christ and learn to do as He taught.

Is it possible that what IFA writes on this page is being watched by others who want to see if we are genuinely standing for Christ, tolerant, not judgemental, without making a bigger deal about other people’s sin than about our own sin (which might be seen as hate in our speech), demonstrating the fruits of the Spirit in what we say? One of God’s saints has said, “Truth that is not love, is love that is not true.” Another has said, “Do not accept anything as the truth if it lacks love. And do not accept anything as love which lacks truth! One without the other becomes a destructive lie.”

I hope that for those of you that have felt betrayed by Chick-fil-A, taking time to consider what you believe about their motives will help.

If you do not like the idea of having a group Bible study, at least consider the following:
Which of you knows where Jesus says something like, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”. (I’ll give you a clue: It is in Chapter 8 of one of the Gospels.)
Ask Jesus to show you if this passage applies to this situation.
Do the same for Matthew 7:12 and Matthew 7:1-5. Wait upon the Lord to speak to you. Don’t rush. The reputation of a Christian is at stake.

Consider that some actions are objectively sinful and some are not. Some actions are only sinful if they are done with sinful motives. Matthew 20:15 tells us, “Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money?” And even if God told us about someone else’s sinful motives in a matter that is not objectively sinful, under what conditions does the Bible say it is appropriate to make a public statement about that? Consider 2 Samuel 12, where there was a case of actions that were objectively sinful.

Before I post part two, it is important that I speak to you about unity in the body of Christ. Please read 1 Corinthians 12 and post a comment/reply when you have done so. We need to be aware of the schemes of the devil. One of the schemes is to tempt us into divisions. This has been a problem throughout church history. We need to learn from history so that we do not repeat the mistakes in history. Please also pray for unity in the body of Christ. This has to be a team effort as in 1 Corinthians 12, and Philippians “preserve the unity in the Spirit”. Jesus does not want the polarization in American politics to lead to polarization in the body of Christ. So if you remember something Jesus said about unity in the body of Christ, please be a team player/saint/contributing member of the body of Christ and share it here.

Jesus sat, ate, and went to the homes of sinners and tax collectors. He spoke with the woman at the well (which was absolutely taboo by their customs at the time) who was in sexual sin at that very moment. He spoke the truth of the gospel to her that changed her direction in an instant and she spread the word of salvation to anyone who would listen (John 4:7-30).

In Luke 5:32- Jesus said “ It is not the healthy that need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners into repentance.” His message was loud and clear as it was recorded by Mark in Mark 2:17 and again by Matthew in Matthew 9:13.

Do we not need to reach out with the love of Christ to show His heart to those most in need of it? In an atmosphere where sin is not called sin and wrong is called right- do those people not need to hear the gospel more than anyone who already has?

The youth of our country have been raised in an age where anything goes and ‘If it feels good, do it. It’s OK”. They are desperate for a foundation and a light to lead them through. If we as Christians and Christian organizations do not reach out and provide support to hear the message of the gospel- who will?

Undoubtedly, FCA and Salvation Army are wonderful organizations who do that very thing. They have a large network of Christians and Christian supporters who have diligently worked to help those in need. While I may not have been in favor of Chick-fil-A totally pulling their financial support to Salvation Army and FCA, I support their decision to reach the youth most in need in our country. If they don’t- who else will show the love of Christ? Surely- not those that are without it.

Just as each Christian can determine where their financial support goes to make a difference for Christ, so can corporations. If you see a need and opportunity for ministry, you fill the need and provide ministry. May all of us who have Jesus as our Savior seek out opportunities to support His active ministries. It’s always been up to us to fill the need with Salvation Army and FCA- not just Chick-fil-A. So let’s do it and still support Chick-fil-A as they also support areas where they can make a difference.

The hope for children and the world is not money. It’s Jesus. Giving to secular organizations will not provide lasting change. There are many Christian charities that feed the hungry AND lead them to Jesus. I believe God has blessed Chick-fil-a largely because they have given to fulfill the Great Commission. James says not to mock God by thinking you can sow to the flesh-the world system-and not be corrupted. It’s ok to give to secular organizations if you don’t know this, but Don Cathy knows better. God sees his heart. We can only see the fruit of his actions, and it doesn’t look good.

I haven’t eaten at Chick-fil-A (sorry, if my spelling is wrong; I have never seen one in the area in which I live). I think there might be one north of me in another county. I have heard a lot about their stand for the truth of the Bible, and I hope they are not “caving.” The main point I was going to make is Jesus never came to support education, homelessness (Jesus said “the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.”) or hunger. Jesus came to save people from their sins, period. He came preaching, “REPENT for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” It would seem that a Christian organization would support ministries that also preach repentance. Or at least ones that don’t openly promote the gay lifestyle. But I don’t personally know Dan Cathy’s heart or motives. It kind of seems like an overall direction that most of the church is going — just love everybody and ignore sin. We have the Baptists caving on a stand against being gay…the United Methodists accepting them many years ago…a church out here accepting an openly gay minister…and I believe a lot of other denominations as well. So, what am I trying to say? Let’s just tuck in tight with the Lord and stand for truth until our last breath (even if we die for standing for truth). Not necessarily that we do or don’t boycott Chick-fil-A, but on a personal level, let’s not compromise the word of truth one iota. The return of the Lord is near, and let’s endure to the end that we might be saved. And support organizations that we KNOW are leading people to Jesus Christ.

I am very discouraged with the decision to stop support for FCA. Especially after reading about the Field of Faith meetings in stadiums. Surely the spiritual needs of young people is most important. My personal suggestions beyond praying for the decision is that all Christians who can send a gift to FCA to help them carry out their mission. It also seems that the decision involved getting more stores in more areas which seems like profit is more important than principle.

Part 1 of 2
Hey everyone, can you see what is happening on this web page? It appears like there are comments ranging from “It is sad to see this organization judge Dan Cathy” to “They bowed to Baal”.

Franklin Graham wrote on his facebook page:
“I picked up the phone and called Dan Cathy. Dan was very clear that they have not bowed down to anyone’s demands, including the LGBTQ community. They will continue to support whoever they want to support. They haven’t changed who they are or what they believe. Chick-fil-A remains committed to Christian values. Dan Cathy assured me that this isn’t going to change. I hope all those who jumped to the wrong conclusion about them read this.”
(This quote is copied from Mr. Graham’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FranklinGraham/posts/2856365114419651 to the best of my ability. Please report any mistakes I may have made. Please note I have only included one paragraph, but that paragraph seems representative of the whole.)

After four days working on what has turned into an essay, I believe the Lord told me to start over because I was approaching it wrong. I in turn exhort anyone feeling betrayed by Chick-fil-A or Mr. Cathy to be willing to start over. Whether you are right or wrong, bring your feelings of being betrayed or disappointed to Jesus. (It has been said that the passage about the disciples on the road to Emmaus can be a model for how to do this in a fruitful way.)

Have any of you concluded that Mr. Cathy has “caved in”? Do you disagree with the part about “they have not bowed down to anyone’s demands”? If so, tell that to Jesus, too. Then listen to see if Jesus has something to tell you, much like He spoke to the disciples on the road.

Another approach is to ask yourself, “What would Jesus do in this situation? What did He teach about how to respond to such situations?” And if you think that “caving in” is the only possible/reasonable explanation for the decision of Chick-fil-A, please feel free to say so by leaving a response to this comment. I have an idea to share if anyone thinks that. And if you know under what conditions Jesus says we should make a public accusation of sin against a brother, please leave a response to this comment.

Hopefully I can post Part 2 of the essay within a day or two, so please check back.

Chic-Fil-A should be ashamed for bowing to the LGBQT community, and for not supporting the Salvation Army. I will certainly reconsider before I go to Chic-Fil-A again. So sad their decision they made – they have let many Christians down.

I really don’t think Paul would have approached it this way.

More to the point, he would have gone personally or sent an ambassador to refute their behavior. That is part of where Mr. Graham dropped the ball, altho I am not surprised sad to say. For what Mr. Cathy has purported their mission to be, he IS in direct violation.

We are not talking causes or issues here like Franklin Graham is……we are talking SIN!!!!

Wake up Christians…..if you truly are and have not compromised to the point of no return.

Chick-fil-A could support Covenant House as well as continue to support the Salvation Army. Why take away from Christian charities, if they truly support Christian principles? Jesus came to BOTH save the lost and encourage the believers. How can Chick-fil-A not see that this discourages the Christian community? How can they not see that the agenda of the homosexual community is not only to be supported, but to destroy Christianity, which includes destroying Chick-fil-A? The LGBQT community (hope I got the acronym right) is laughing at Chick-fil-A right now, making a mockery of them and God.
God will not be mocked, and everyone will soon know it.

It is a sad day when we let the LGBTQ community define what a Christian business should stand for. Listen LGBTQ community: your sin is no greater than anyone else’s sin. Christians believe that God set the boundaries of the marriage relationship not man. If you want a relationship with the same sex that is your choice. God gives us all free choice. We believe we are accountable to God for our choices. I not support Chic-fil-A’s decision.

I am very sad about the Chick-fil-A decision. What no-one seems to realize is that there is a “Mole” in the organization now. A person who seems well qualified and “good for business” , but whose motives are to destroy the organization from the inside out. This happens to churches because they forget/ignore the discernment by the Holy Spirit that will send a danger danger signal about a person. I am shocked that the “Mole” was hired at all. Improper or incomplete vetting? If this is not fixed, Chick-fil-A will be destroyed. I am as sure of this as I am of my own name. I am sad but not surprised about the lack of discernment. I have watched it too many times in various Christian venues

Father, I ask that You bless Chick-Fil-A, regardless of the reason they have chosen to stop giving to either of the Christian organizations. Father, only You know their real intent and You will work accordingly. Father, I ask that You also bless each individual who owns a Chick-Fil-A franchise, help them to make the correct decision for their livelihood.
Father, I ask that out of all of this, that is going on with Chick-Fil-A, that Your name will be honored and glorified.

In Jesus’ Name I pray Amen.

It does seem inconsistent with what they say. Yes, EVERYONE deserves mercy and to be served. There truly is a youth crisis today in all communities, and everyone deserves help. I am glad they are going to continue being charitable. But just because you contribute money doesn’t mean you have a say in what is done, or what services are being provided. Your money could be contributing to the encouragement of continuing a destructive life style. It does feel like the beginning of becoming “luke warm”.
However, I will continue to support the restaurants. Giving these good hard working people a hard time doesn’t help anything. There are plenty of other restaurants and coffee shops Christians frequent whose Corporate policies aren’t what we would choose. Our ministry is at the local level, where people are. We aren’t to be a light in the light, but a light in the dark.

It is a “short” slippery slope. First we stop giving to overt Christian organizations and give to religious neutral organizations. Due to the secular worldview and influence of those in the religious neutral organizations we can drift further and further away from a Christian worldview. Soon then we go from giving to a religious neutral organization to giving to organizations that are not friendly maybe even hostile to Christian beliefs. Those with a secular worldview will give to secular organizations. As Christians with a Christian worldview we should support overt Christians organization in order to further the Good News of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

I think Dan Cathy was either fooled, hoodwinked, or manipulated into making this decision. I am deeply disappointed but I believe that Mr. Cathy can fix this…and should. I appreciate Rev. Graham’s phone call to Dan Cathy. I wonder what Mr. Cathy would say to his supporters who now feel betrayed and disappointed? This new giving strategy strategy seems to be a big mistake. Fix it Dan.

I agree with Bryan. Some might feel like this is “conspiracy theory” but it is not- the likelihood that LGBTQ activists acted deceptively is much more likely than Dan Cathy “caving-in.” He has stood firm for many years. And they have been attacking for many years. We feel confused about what is going on, but it really is to be expected of a group that attacks viciously to successfully deceive even the most discerning believers. The most humble and compassionate are prime targets of the enemy. For these reasons, the LGBTQ activists are likely threatening Dan Cathy in some way. I believe he would do what is right if he could. Please pray diligently for him and for God to make clear a solution. Do not let this lead to disunity. That is exactly what the enemy wants.

I am disappointed in your organization & so many others who are judging Dan Cathy. Personally, I give to organizations & then some years I withdraw to give to others. It’s not for anyone else to say where God leads me to give. Same falls true for their organization. Therefore, if Dan Cathy spoke & says he is still remaining true to their values, then it’s none of anyone’s business even if we don’t think it looks right. We are called to live by faith not sight. I don’t expect people to understand what God spoke into my spirit. Neither should we judge them. I am praying for this organization & also all those in judgement of Chik-Fil-a.

Because they support LGBTQ (did I get that right?) youth, and they don’t lead people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and out of that lifestyle. Because Jesus never came to solve hunger, homelessness or education issues. Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost…which was fellowship with God , the Father. So the idea is that a Christian company should support ministries that lead people to Christ and off the ONLY ANSWER this world needs.

Disagree. Having Integrity means the fruit (actions) must match the confession. You don’t get to say you support something then take action that contradicts that position and blame it on “God told me but I didn’t change my position – now you can’t say anything because you’re judging me”. Some of the new charities they support are neutral or affirming of the gay lifestyle. If chik fil a didn’t recant or soften it’s position on gay marriage then they need to say so. They didn’t. I am not judging chik fil a. I am judging the actions of chik fil a. It looks like they made a financial decision to stop supporting organizations that are pro-traditional marriage in favor of organizations that are neutral or even gay lifestyle affirming. And they did it for business reasons…so they could curry favor in more liberal markets that have blocked their stores. I used to go out of my way to patronize chik fil a because of their convictions. Now they are just another chicken place. Moreover, one who may have betrayed it’s convictions and my trust. Other chicken places are good too. AND other restaurants are “Christian”. How long will it be before they are open on Sundays? That was Truett’s value but is it Dan’s? I guess we will find out.

Donna, I am with you on this. It seems to me that many are quick to be their judge when they don’t know what their strategy is in all of this. Maybe the Lord has given them a strategy to make a greater kingdom impact outside of the religious world. I believe that many of God’s people are being stirred in unconventional ways that will offend the religious , but bring kingdom impact into places that desperately need it. Maybe God wants to bring some light into those places & this is a way that might grant them access to those places through relationship.

It saddens me that Chic has given in to the culture. They were a light shining into this dark world. I’m sure the LGBTQ community is rejoicing and seeing this as another victory for their agenda, which will embolden them to come down even harder on Christian business owners who have dedicated their businesses to God and elected to conduct their businesses in line with biblical values. Let’s keep on praying for Chic.

THE FOLLOWING WAS ALSO POSTED IN RESPONSE TO THE “IMPEACHMENT CRUSADE” ARTICLE (and quoted responses were also from that article).
As a point of interest perhaps to some or one, having just read and prayed through the articles and comments for both Chick-Fil-A and “Update on the Impeachment Crusade,” I was struck by these points. First: I greatly appreciate the IFA ministry and specifically the “Headline Prayer” forum in which multiple perspectives are shared and prayer is invited in order to get a clearer bigger/broader/deeper picture of where GOD may be working in order to: 1) Unify the body of Christ under the Headship of JESUS, the Anointed Son of GOD; 2) Focus prayer effort on what may be underlying and greater issues than what immediately meets the eye (or the flesh, as the case may be); 3) Bring greater and ever-expanding growth to the Kingdom of GOD, on both personal and corporate levels.
What struck me, sadly, was my PERSONAL, angry response initially to those both in person (whom i love and trust) and those online whose opinions were opposite mine! It occurred to me that this generally is not my immediate nor general response to opposition. Generally, I sincerely desire to hear another’s side but instead I found myself almost immediately becoming outraged and I know that outrage is not a fruit of the spirit!! Ah-ha, perhaps I need to lift my eyes, guard my heart, repent and REJOICE that GOD is on the Throne, while asking Him what HE wants ME to learn and how HE wants me to act/pray/speak in a particular situation! I believe that we, as the body of Christ, may be distracted from time to time by the defeated foe who wants us to charge into the battle with arms swinging (figuratively) before sitting peacefully in the secret place enjoying the Presence of our Victorious GOD. In the “Crusade” article, Dave ends with this statement:
“as we celebrate Thanksgiving and enter the Advent season, may the spiritual powers of peace, hope, joy, and love overcome powers of rancor and destructive division plaguing our homeland.” This was followed by the following 3 comments:

DIYA (10:09 am) 11/23
If the government is on Yeshuah’s shoulders & we are the body, then our words & actions shape His will into society. He is the support and burden bearer but we are the extenders of grace & authority into our sphere of influence.
Our first action must then be to entreat our Glorious Lord & Father in prayerful surrender of our will to Him[;] hopefully we will rise up with His heart, His plan & His will.
The ONE NATION UNDER GOD STARTS IN OUR OWN HEARTS BEING UNDER GOD. [emphasis added]

ROCHELLE (response to Diya) @ 10:09 am
“Lord, I ask Your help to continue loving and offering respect to those who are against me and what I believe.”

LINDA H @11:45 (11/23)
note: I was watching the hearings but when I realized how angry, stressed and anxious I was getting, how it was stealing my peace and robbing me of the joy of the Lord, I stopped watching. I felt I could do a lot more good by staying close to God, praying and staying in faith.

My response is “THANK YOU” to each of these individuals and AMEN!

The best course of action would be to continue donating to SALVATION ARMY etc. but also start donating to Covenant House–which helps the LGBTQ community. In this way, the LGBTQ would have to acknowledge that Chick-Fil-A is open to helping them as well. It’s not too late for Chick-Fil-A to divvy up their donations to include both Salvation Army and Covenant House. THAT WOULD BE A WIN-WIN ACTION.

I agree with you that by excluding the SALVATION ARMY and the FCA may have sent a message, made a statement that doesn’t reflect the intentions of what CFA did. Covenant House is a secular outreach. Lost kids will have their physical and perhaps some emotional needs met. And that is a good thing! My nephew is a transgender woman. He is also an outspoken and prideful atheist. I thank anyone who might feed him when he is hungry. Who might “rescue” him if he ever becomes suicidal and get him help. But it is his empty heart that has led him to this disastrous decision, and never doubt it, his decision has brutally affected every other family relationship in his life. He needs more than a “safe place”. He needs more than food. He needs more than a pat on the back. He needs healing. And that will only come from Christ! So…I pray for those lost children who come to Covenant House. But pray as well for those who work there. Pray that their hearts may be made new, or refreshed by the power of God. Pray that the enemy be rebuked in the lives of the LGBTQ kids and the memories of those trafficked might be redeemed. Perhaps the decision CFA made is but a tool in God’s plan. He does some of His greatest work in the most impossible persons and places! Let’s pray for that! And keep an eye on Covenant House. Might see some strangely bright Light coming through its windows!

I think the answer is easy. Help those you can, including those from the LGBQT community; but, do so without compromising the gospel or commitment to the body of Christ. This can be done by donating money to Covenant House, without eliminating donations to Salvation Army and FCA. If it means reducing donations to the latter 2 organizations, to make room for Covenant, so be it. I agree that kids need to know they are loved by Jesus, regardless of their faith, sexual orientation or otherwise. But, they also need Jesus, or they are lost forever; and, the Salvation Army and FCA can help them find Christ. Covenant may or may not share the gospel with the kids to whom they minister. I don’t know them at all. But, I know Salvation Army and FCA will share the gospel, so it makes sense to continue supporting them.

November 23, 2019

I checked the Covenant House International website and found a mission and purpose statement which seems quite different from the one you stated. Their website states “Our work is guided by a mission to serve youth with absolute respect and unconditional love… to help kids who are suffering… and to protect and safeguard all children in need.” Their services appear to be for any child or youth, including LGBTQ, experiencing homelessness and/or human trafficking. I don’t see their mission and purpose in conflict with my Christian values.

I believe this situation is an assignment from the devil to divide the Christian community. 2 Timothy 2:23-25 says we are not to have any foolish and stupid arguments because they produce quarrels; instead, we are to be kind to everyone, able to teach, not be resentful and gently instruct. How can we reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ if we reach out to those who do not know Him. I believe helping those who are hurting, are poor and are walking in darkness need the light of Jesus no matter what individual Christian or charity brings it. We must pray for unity and humility in the Body of Christ.

Wisdom is proven by her children. If the Chick-Fil-A becomes the favorite restaurant of the LGBT community, then we shall see just how wise this decision is and how it will affect the little families who in the past have been this restaurant’s main source of income.

    Gayle Hoyt
    November 24, 2019

The decision will definitely affect the franchises, those individuals who own the local Chic Filas. Pray for them and their families. Any boycotts or punitive reactions will affect their incomes and the success of their businesses. They are the innocents in this decision. The over-looked and perhaps they do feel betrayed by the company since they only heard of the decision shortly before it was made public. We shall pray and watch to see the path ahead for CFA.

The problem today is that every major store seems to support this lifestyle…and if I boycott all of them where would I shop? And how would I live? I will never go to Disneyland or Disney World (at least that’s my vow at this point)…but where to shop is a real issue. I try and support Christian movies that preach real truth when they hit the theaters, so theater chains know that this kind of movie will get support. So, by the same token, we could buy our Bibles and Christian music and movies in stores like Wal*Mart (I actually do buy these things there), to show them this will bring them profits. Support all that is Christian wherever we can, is the idea, so companies see it is profitable and people still support Biblical values. I just don’t know who to boycott, since they all seem to be openly promoting this.

In my Wal*Mart store they now where vests with a rainbow symbol…but it also says something about not using plastic bottles (or recycling them)on these vests…so not sure what this means. Does anyone know if this is an open support of the LGBTQ lifestyle?

Don’t understand why Christians are behaving as if Chick-fil-A has committed the unpardonable sin! According to the article they have already been supporting Covenant House and whats so wrong with that anyway? Do people not realize that teens may be trying to flee the homosexual life style and need a safe place to stay? We are suppose to minister the love of God to everyone, not just those whose lifestyles we agree with! My money would go to Covenant House rather than the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Not that there is anything wrong with FCA but they receive a lot of support. Its easy to jump on the band wagon against Chick-fil-A but where have all these people been when they are constantly being attacked because of their Christian values? I stand with Chick-fil-A and suggest Mr. Graham is correct and maybe some leadership needs to get off their high horses and get their hands a little dirty!

Terry Hart
November 23, 2019

In the end, with no Chick-fil-A there are no donations to any charities. As a business, even a Christian owned one, the survival of the enterprise is a chief priority. Seems to me that the decision is a practical one. Wrong as it is, the pressure from the left (I.e., LGTB) is real, and while not caving to it a company, if it wishes to remain viable, must ‘adapt’ – not capitulate, not compromise, but adapt. As myself a Christian business owner who donates regularly to Christian ministry, I pick and choose to whom and what entity I wish to contribute to. Chil-fil-A certainly has that right. Thank God they continue to give to the betterment of people, and especially our youth.

God’s Word judges. We are commanded in John 7:24 to “judge righteous judgement.” The principle of sin as leaven is clear in the Word–we are to flee the very appearance of sin. Sin kills. Supporting an organization that disobeys God’s Word is sin. Covenant House is a secular organization, does not proclaim Jesus as the only Way, teaches healing can be achieved by man’s respect and love, apart from Jesus. This is humanism. We are commanded to give our money, which is HIS money, to HIS ministries which proclaim Jesus as Savior from sin. Surely there are ministries which give the Life of Christ who help suffering kids we can support. If we cannot find such a ministry, let us pray God raise them up for His glory.

    ‭‭Micah‬ ‭6:8‬ ‭AMPC‬‬
“Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept God’s will)?”

Praying for the Cathy Family and all the local ownership.

We must hear what the HS is saying to each of us, daily, where He leads us, daily. The Cloud by day, the Pillar of Fire by night.

Over the years God has directed our giving to many organizations and charities. Some Christian, some not. We do all by Faith, believing He has His purposes accomplished. We always tithe from first fruits to our home church. Our first covenant committment.

After tax changes last year, we lost a tax advantage, and had to adjust the W-4’s then pay out to the IRS. Got caught in the crossfire of that whole issue. This caused us to look hard at giving this year. Obedience is what we’re after with the right heart.

The early church among the gentiles must have really been something on the outside. But Paul had a Revelation of Jesus Christ, the one he had persecuted! Oops! Paul had judged with eyes of flesh, but God changed all that! What a to do!

I feel Betrayed by Christians who are critical and judgmental. Go read Ephesians 4:29-32 and then ask The Lord to forgive you for “the unwholesome talk that comes out of your mouth”. It is not for anyone to judge the Cathy family. Give them the benefit of the doubt that they prayed together and listened to the Holy Spirit. All you people that have never ever had the Holy Spirit tell you to say or do something that was not popular and then you got criticized and judged and gossiped about …well, I am happy for you. If the Cathy family heard the Holy Spirit wrongly then they will be held accountable by The Lord…Not To You! Let’s try to remember that Jesus hung out with all kinds of sinners and asked ‘who needs a doctor more’…Mark 2:17. I don’t need to pray for Chick Fil-A owners. I need to pray for you so here it is: Father, I ask that every Christian who has committed the sins you speak of in Ephesians 4:29+ and spoken against the Cathy family, be awakened to their sin and repent so that they may receive your grace and forgiveness. In the name of Jesus, forgive them for they know not what they do. Amen

When the Cathy family held tight to their Biblical values on sex and marriage they received damning rebukes for their Christian values. Did you agree with their views then? I suggest that you read the Ephesians verse yourself and ask how you would respond from that angle. You are a double speaking Christian. Include yourself in your own prayer.
And when any lgbtq people need assistance from any of these Christian organizations, are they filtered out because of their gender confusion? No they are not. The Salvation Army doesn’t collect monies at Christmas only for certain people. They give to anyone. It is obvious as a Christian what is going on here. Further bowing down to baal is taking our world into despair. You can’t have it both ways. Read Romans 1

      Jan Edwards
      November 23, 2019

You are both on shaky ground. Remember Romans 2. This is a precarious situation and The Holy Spirit will do his work where it is needed. Father, in Jesus’ name, I ask you to bind Satan in the lives of all of those involved in this situation. And let Your Voice be heard clearly and followed. Give us clarity and let us stand strong in opposition to the enemy and the world, looking forward to the day that faith will become sight. Lord, clear this dark glass, and let us all see the truth of Your desire in this matter. Amen. Maranatha

        polly doolittle
        November 23, 2019

No shaky ground, we are all sinners saved by faith through grace. But when we openly support something that is quite clearly written in the Bible as a sin and continue in that sin, then we are are hardening our own will against God’s will.Judging here is moral in nature, that is ability to discern between right and wrong. * The moralists of v. 1 were not condemned by Paul for their moral judgement but for their sin; they did the very things which they rightly judged to be wrong in other men.” (* NKJV study Bible)
And in 1st Corinthians; 11:31 “For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.” (NKJV study Bible)
If you love, you care about the person doing sinful things in the body. Christ calls us to encourage and warn our fellow brethren. And he gives us the handbook of right and wrong. And why is it ok for the lgbtq community to beat up on Christians, forcing whole groups to stand down in their beliefs for their faith.

I don’t have much of an opinion here myself, but moreso taking it in and pondering, I guess. And on one hand I agree with part of this last comment. Yet, it seems “they” have intentionally made it our business to know. So, it does make one wonder “why?” Why are you telling us this, and why have you changed? At the same time, we do not know the heart or motive. If this executive director guy is indeed as stated above, maybe something more than meets the eye is going on. We were requested to pray. This is our Christian family, and they have made a statement before the world; the author has stated the possibility of lives being affected. So yes, this does seem like a matter for prayer. P.S. How many who are expressing shock and horror at Chick-fil-A’s decision have ever contributed personally to the Salvation Army or FCA? We will know by the fruit. The fruit will be evident if it is NOT God’s heart or if He sees something in this that we don’t. I pray for the Cathy family – for increased wisdom, revelation, direction, and that they will be drawn ever deeper into the Father’s heart and always choose Life. The LGBTQ agenda is a small percentage of our population that is simply shouting louder than the majority. It is way past time for true followers of Jesus Christ to raise their voices. Let Truth and Love rule, and Kingdom come will be done in this nation!

Thank you for pointing that HUGE TRUTH out!!!
Just because gays shout so loud too many ARE EFFECTED!!
God showed me many years ago about a boss I had who was loud for self promotion..He said “she’s like a puffed up balloon..all puffed up with air but If you stick a pin in, the balloon deflates ..in other words..a lot of hot air..to keep the attention on herself……as I prayed for her, that really opened my eyes!
..we need to tell the real TRUTH as often and as much as the devils crowd…❤

Personally I find the debate about Chic-fil-A’s motives alarming. The contract was up. Period. I for one can clearly see why they chose to go another direction for several reasons. Mainly is our children whom satan is seeking to devour through our own Government officials and Public School system. Our children are not only America’s future but Jesus says, Let them come to Me and WOE to anyone who harms them. They are being harmed from the womb to homes, libraries, cartoons, schools . . . I for one applaud their change. Yes, we Christians are to STAND STRONG on God’s Word and Principals. At the same time, my friends, we can not walk out another’s salvation. Only our own.

    November 23, 2019

How are we going to get them to the gospel if we war against flesh and blood………..love the sinner hate the sin. This is challenging for us in our little do no wrong Christian world………Paul, Jesus. One thrown in prison for doing wrong, one murdered for being innocent. This may be part of our suffering to accept the things we cannot change and change the things we can and leave the rest for those to walk out their own salvation in fear and trembling. If Mr. Cathy wants to redirect his giving who are we to tell him what to do? We still live in free country last time I checked. If Mr. Cathy chooses to associate with legal and or business personnel with questionable values and motives, that is his business. Maybe God will use this and turn it around for good. Or maybe God will shut the door that no man can open. When it becomes my business is when other peoples choices affect and limit my choices. I don’t want to be forced into doing something I don’t want to do. Look at the baker example in Colorado? If those people choose to not make cakes that defy their Christian beliefs, why should they be forced to abide? Like anything else, go someplace else where you can get your needs met. Instead of costing people their resources to get their way. Don’t force your values onto someone else. Everyone has choices. At the end of the day people will make their own decisions if they wish to be part of eternity or not. Hell is a real place folks. One thing I read recently was that the non Christian community is watching the Christians. Are we being and doing the light????

I agree the days grow darker and life is always about choices. The good and bad – each with consequences. We believers must stay true to God’s Word and be His Light shining in a way that draws others to Him for salvation.

Chic & Cathy family have compromised with the enemy- LGBT. This compromise has opened an evil door. I would urge Kubal & Graham to be talking and meeting with Cathy family to not support any organization which is connected with evil. Of course prayer is also very important. There needs to be other pro Christian leaders contacting Cathy family, & let them know that now they are offending millions of other Christians. The fact that LGBT is attacking Chic means Chic is on track. LGBT will continue to exert various ways for Chic to compromise more and more until Chic goes down, down, down.

    November 24, 2019

In reading Cony’s comment, this jumped out at me: “…have compromised with the enemy-LGBT.” They are NOT the enemy.
Satan is the enemy. Those in the LGBT lifestyle are sinners…like all of us without the redeeming Grace of God. They were led into their sinful lifestyle BY the enemy. Satan is the father of sin. And at one time, without…I will say it again, the redeeming Grace and Sacrifice of Christ…we were all children of the devil! Let’s pray for these lost. While never ever giving approval to the lifestyle, but always remembering who we once were!

      Cony Brown
      November 24, 2019

Yes of course the devil is the enemy, I should have been more clear. Thank you. Nevertheless, that doesn’t change the fact that Chic has sided by compromising with the LGBT. Cathy should have stood his ground and not compromised with LGBT. Cathy needs much prayer

I can understand, after selling millions upon millions of meals, with chicken in them, they might confuse their customers bottom line…. that it’s NOT just about the chicken.
Their decision moved them from the category of “Unique Business with Christian values who took a stand”, which meant so much to so many people, to “just another fast food place”. They gutted their supporters with this decision. Because everyone KNEW they were standing for TRUTH and were NOT doing what they were being accused of doing. …and it was O.K. with most of their loyal customers if they weren’t winning the “perception war”.
However, now they’ve lost the “perception war” with their own, loyal customers. They completely miscalculated the impact of their decision and lost the messaging campaign with their “believers” (not just believers in Christ and his word, but customers who believed in them for their stance, for fighting the lies against them, for fighting and winning in the culture war, for being a “beacon on the hill” as a business who stood for Christian values and, frankly speaking, the thought that they were being rewarded for it – by God and its customers. (Perception – right, wrong or indifferent – but something powerful, almost beyond understanding.)

And now… they’re just another pillar of society felled – and not by external forces but by capitulation from within.

Perhaps it’s for the best. Perhaps too many people made Chick-Fil-A into an idol. … but it WAS a symbol, an icon, in our culture. Bottomline: BAD LEADERSHIP DECISION… and it will cost them dearly… in more ways than they can ever imagine.

    Theresa Peterson
    November 23, 2019

What a remarkably perceptive comment Iva, it is the ‘perception war’ that they have lost. It is difficult to judge why they decided to drop their support of these organizations in light of what has been said – this is why God tells us to leave judging motives to Him. But one thing is certain, it has dramatically changed the way that many Chik-Fil-A fans will view them. I too feel that this will cost them dearly, and in ways that they can’t imagine.

10 Finally my brethren be strong in the Lord and the power of His might.11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the rules of the devil. 12 for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.
Ephesians 6: 10-13
We are in such a mighty battle brothers and sisters in Christ. Our spiritual armor is essential in this day and the battle rages. The enemy is crafty and smart, he is a liar and one of his best “fiery darts” is the dart of disappointment. He is attacking furiously and ferociously because he knows his time grows short. God gives all of His children defensive weapons to use, our shields of faith and our swords of the Spirit, which is His Word. It tells us we must “pray without ceasing”. So I will pray and pray and pray for not only Chick-fil-A, but our country. Stay in the fight….the darker it get the brighter we shine.

My word i feel so sorry that Christians can be so critical. Are we joining the Chic-fil~A bashers. I believe the heart of Jesus was to walk among the lost and be a light. He hated hypocrites not sinners…He showed love and compassion to all men. Maybe if we stop pointing the fingers at every move someone makes and let the light of Christ shine into the hearts and minds of men then they WILL see our Father in Heaven and Glorify him. I will stand for my Christian convictions till the day i die. I am not ashamed of the LORD i profess or the life saving Gospel…i have many that i do not agree with which include the closest to me…BUT …i will not use it as a platform but prayerfully a bridge. Have any of you read about Jesus visiting the home of Zacchaeus?:

Luke 19:1-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

Jesus Comes to Zacchaeus’ House
19 Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up [a]and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, [b]make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he [c]made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all [d]complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.”

8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”

9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Jesus didn’t avoid Zacchaeus. The Bible doesn’t say that He preached to him, told him to change his life “or else”, that he was going to hell, etc. Jesus presence was in his home. Jesus showed him love.

What did all the people say?

I think we need to remember that His commission to us is to bring the Kingdom to the lost. We are the answer because we carry the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom within. Light overcomes darkness. Compassion prevails. We need to see people as Jesus sees people.

The Lord will lead us to the lost if we will let him. We can influence our culture, and should, instead of boycotting and running from opportunities to be light in a dark world with no hope. We should be grieved and motivated. Jesus came to SEEK and SAVE THE LOST.

Sadly, what I see is this company going the way of the Boy Scouts. No one gets the luxury of pretending a stance in order to appease everyone. Compromise has a sound and a smell.
Our nation is desperate for bold Christian role models in every part of culture. Sadly, very sadly, there aren’t many left. I would challenge the owners of local franchises to group together and make a united stand NOW before they lose everything individually. The public IS behind them! People vote with their willingness to stand in lines and drive the extra few miles to eat their chicken BECAUSE of the company’s past stand. Look at the Boy Scouts and LEARN NOW!

We Christians all need the power of Christ to stand up for the Gospel and share…Christ’s forgiveness of sins… no matter what. I was disappointed in what i heard (always more to the story) … it reminds me of how so many churches compromise in order to avoid persecution…i.e. justice movement, etc. vs. Evangelism…it is a time for pause and check our own courage in the face of these arrows of darkness

Of all the “christians” who have publicly denounced Chik-Fil-A for their donation decision, how many of these same christians have bothered to pray for the company, prior to condemning them? This does not resemble God-honoring brotherly love to me. It looks more to me like the rest of the world. I don’t condone homosexuality, but I have an adult child who has joined into that lifestyle. I still love that child with all my heart, and I cover that child in prayer, as I do all my offspring.

This goes to show how even people of God can get confused as to how and where is God glorified. To God only be the Glory, I pray for the Chick Filet leadership. Where was the godly counsel? There is safety in the multitude of counselors, Scripture talks about.
If the salt has lost its savor, how can we continue to influence. There is a decline in the body of Christ standing up for Christ.
The enemy wants to take away all absolute truths from our society. I was reading recently about a move in the educational community in high circles having debate as to whether it should be challenged, as to in case, a young child in an educational setting says 2+2= (another answer) and it isn’t 4, do you hear that? I think they don’t want to tell the child that the answer is wrong and the enemy wants to tell people that math may be oppressive. That is a truth, but the enemy is attacking all truths, it started with men and women, mother’s and father’s, males and females, and now, it’s any absolute truths, that tell us all about the Creator and His Word and Only Way to Salvation, which is HIS Son, Jesus Christ.
Many current laws came from the truths in God’s Word and the Founding Framers knew this. I feel sad for this company but it happens everyday in our lives, and yes, even in the body of Christ. Christ was lifted up by this company and now, there is confusion with the Word of God and the truth. They possibly may have people in their places of leadership of their corporation that don’t know Christ or have strayed or watered the Word of God down because some don’t study the Word of God and therefore, don’t know what the Word of God says.
The enemy is using this to attack us at the very core, the absolute truth, which is the Word of God. I come against the enemy, in the Holy Name of Jesus, and as God’s Word says, HE that is in me, is greater than he that is the world. In 14:6, talks about, Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is the Only Way and the Only Truth, to Father God and have eternal life.
The world goes the other way and many will follow. The sheep hear and follow the Lord’s voice. The Lord is our Shepherd.
It’s sad and we should let them know in a collective manner, that they let us down, but where do they go from here, do they backpedal the truth?
We will continue to pray for we are in the last days.

I think this is more complicated that a matter of donation. Child abuse is rampant, and many sex abused children grow up confused about their sexuality/gender. I am not an LGBTetc supporter, and I believe we Christians failed in helping this group in society overcome their abuse.
In the last 5 year I was PMC to a child who was raped at 10 years old. I tried every to help her, and sadly she went from boy crazy to girl crazy. The evil force is real and hides using rainbow, unicorn and LOVE. We must pray for God to help us break this stronghold.

I personally have decided to cut down on eating out, and my saved money is directed to the charities I want to help.
Chick Fil A is a good restaurant. Like many.

The Spirit of the Lord says
The Body of Christ is in the earth not to condemn, but to share the Gospel, to set free those that are bound!
    Luke 4:14-18
    Matthew 28
Don’t get entangled in the snares of the enemy but rather take the Mighty Powerful Blood of Jesus and place it upon people and circumstances.
Body of Christ do you know who you are?Do you know who lives in you?
Do you know who I Am?
Stop condemning those that are bound. And do the work Body of Christ I command you to do!
Satan is going rampant in this nation! What are you going to do about it Body of Christ?
Take my Blood and cover every area, every circumstance! Take My Mighty Powerful Name
Take My Mighty Powerful Blood and speak to those things that are not of Me!
Do you know who you are Body of Christ and why you are here in the earth for such a time as this?
This concludes what was given to me by the Spirit of the Lord!

I agree we must pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ in CFA, as they are under the microscope. Their (and our) testimony to the world is critical. I pray that we will all be courageous and bold when that day comes to us individually, every time.

November 23, 2019

This is disappointing, but we have to ask ourselves a larger question…..What has lead to categorizing pro family, pro God groups like Focus on the Family, The Salvation Army, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, etc. as “hate” groups? MANY of us, including churches, Christian organizations and individual Christians have “stood down”, “kept quiet” and accepted being vilified and berated as though supporting the natural family….the basis of civilization….was something we need to apologize for. God’s design for sexuality is made plain in male and female anatomy. God’s design for children to have a mother and a father is also clarified in this design. We can accept that not everyone honors God’s design, but Christians need to hold fast to His ideals for sexuality and families in our homes and in our churches, without apology. It seems we’re making a scapegoat of Chick Fil A. I believe they will go forward honorably with their charity giving. I expect they will make adjustments as they go along. And I’m certain that they will continue to be faithful to Christian causes in their personal giving. Now let’s pray and work on increasing the integrity of our homes and churches.

    November 23, 2019

Well said GG. I agree. When will we Christians start standing up for our own beliefs and stop expecting others to do the work we are called to do. CFA is not a church, it is a business. As such do CFA accept LBGT money for services? Do they serve them food? No we as Christians should not accept nor embrace LBGT values, but we should treat them as humans, and try to reach them through love with the Gospel as we do all other unbelievers. The Bible specifically says in 2 Timothy 3 – that secularism and worldliness would increase in the last days. This means that Christians and the church will have to broaden our evangelistic reach, and be innovative in our outreach strategies. Dan Cathy and CFA has taken a big hit for the faith, and we believers need to do more than line up to buy sandwiches, as a show of support. We need to follow suit and step outside of our comfortable Christian circles. The Gospel of Christ is powerful enough to change anyone. We need not be afraid. And we definitely should not critize CFA.

No longer supporting The Salvation Army says it all!! That is a public affront to that very worthy organization!
Hopefully, our brothers and sisters in Christ will donate even more to the Salvation Army especially during this Christmas Season.

Not advising the Owner/Operators of their decision or requesting their input only adds to the wrong!

Well, The same GOD who caused this company to prosper is the same GOD they will all answer to one day. No more Chick-Fil-A for me–The mere thought of it gives me indigestion! Hopefully, the Operators/Owners will let their views be known to those who made this grovelling decision.

    November 23, 2019

I find it quite disappointing all of the naysayers on here. First of all, The Salvation Army is a wonderful organization but not the only one out here with Christian values. It is the right of Chic-Fil-A to donate to whomever they choose. To criticize the company to this level once again is unfortunate. They have not lost their core beliefs, they just changed who they are donating to. Aren’t we all glad people are not looking at our lives with a microscope judging every move we make in Christ? There is enough persecution out here against our Christian faith, why do we insist on beating up our own? We have no clue their hearts…give them the benefit of the doubt. I stuckwith them when they made the stance on marriage is between one man and one woman, I will be sure to stand with them now. I look forward to my lunch today at my local Chic-Fil-A!!

      November 23, 2019

Luanne,I respectfully submit that you are wrong on this. There has arose in this land a mafia like organization(s) that fly the banner of LGBTQ. The Lord has bestowed riches beyond measure to the Cathy family and Chic Fil A because of the stands they took. Now they have chosen to forsake that blessing in order to curry favor in the “more liberal areas” and globally. You can try to sugar coat it all you want, but this is a major cave in and, as Chic Fil A will soon discover, to no avail. There is no appeasing these groups. Instead, all Chic Fil A has succeeded in doing in addition to alienating and enraging a large part of their customer base is putting blood in the water. The sharks are gathering in hopes of devouring a carcass. Their new demands will be far worse than before and this time, the people will be far less inclined to stand in line in 106 degree weather for two hours just to support them like my wife and I did in 2012.

        Cathy
        November 23, 2019

ChrisMarcie, agreed. Many have fallen for sugar-coated sin. Sin kills. We are to minister to the sinner but not sugar-coat the sin. John Wesley says even in ministry we are to be very careful not to be affected ourselves by the sin. As you so aptly state, the sharks are circling. Sin kills.

        November 23, 2019

Chris, I agree with all you are saying. I just spoke to 150 high school students yesterday at a private Christian school about sexual integrity through God’s Word. I believe a flood gate has been opened over this country with the LGBT and bisexual onslaught. It is lying to us all…I get it. I just don’t know if we sacrifice one of our strongest advocates in business to all of this. If Chic-Fil-A bowed down, we will see in time..I stopped supporting World Vision because of how they bowed to the pressure. I’m being vigilant but not ready to give Chic-Fil-A a boycott Per se.

    Cathy
    November 23, 2019

Mari, agreed. Supporting an organization that accepts sin is sin. The Word says we are to flee from the very appearance of sin (1 Thess. 5:22). Sin also grows as leaven or yeast which is so obvious in today’s tragically deceived and enslaved generation. Sin opens the door to Satan and his army of demons. Of course it requires courage, strength, prayer, obedience, and God’s grace to stand against the world system. But we are in a battle every day, every hour. The Lord said we would be hated as He was hated. If our suffering brothers and sisters in dangerous countries can stand against violent persecution, can we not stand against the world’s hateful taunts and false accusations? Of course this stand for Christ against sin, Satan, and the world exacts a price. Godliness means persecution in this life but powerful prayer (Daniel as one example). Compromise means loss of authority in Christ and against His enemies. How will we answer the Lord come that great and terrible Judgement Day?

We didn’t expect His strategy in using President Trump to steer the nation toward Biblical values again or defending Israel, and look!
Could the Lord’s heart be aching for the ones who run to Covenant House?
Could this initiative get Christians engaging with these needy populations as never before? Let it be so!

Dave,

I appreciate your advice to pray for the Managers of each Chick-Fil-A. They have a lot to process. Also, pray for the Cathy family as they sort through this issue. We need to ask for God to give them wisdom. Sometimes it takes time for people to be willing to listen to what the Spirit of God is saying, especially when the words of some can be so convincing. Our prayers for them can make a difference if we continue in intercession for them and faint not. Gal 6:9

Very smart way to impact a community that needs all of our prayers. I felt betrayed at first, but CFA is following biblical doctrine – love thy enemy. CFA always treats everyone with dignity.

    November 23, 2019

We do not love our enemy by making excuses for sin. Sin kills. The Lord always said, ” Go and sin no more.” God first requires repentance. Zaccheus obeyed the Lord when He called him, and then he repented. The western Christian church is in its last-days, lukewarm condition because of coddling sin. This is not the love of God. We need God to raise up a new generation of godly preachers who will preach repentance and God’s love through the Blood of Christ as in the Book of Acts.

Someone who seeks to do ME harm. If one of them were to be stalking me to do ME harm, s/he would be my enemy. We are not to love THE enemy. We are to FLEE from him! We are to hold Satan in contempt. He is a “roaring lion” set on destruction…stalking around to see who he can destroy. We do not LOVE him! But we do love his VICTIMS! We love them because we were once related to them! They were at one time FAMILY!
UNTIL…we changed families…by faith in Christ’s grace and sacrifice…we became children of God. Let’s get our minds straight on who is the ENEMY. And use the powerful name of Jesus to fight him! Blessings!!

Sorry to read and hear about Chic-Fil-A’s decision. When God lead the Israelites out of Egypt, before they entered the Promised Land, He gave them strict instructions: Deuteronomy 20:17-18, “You must completely destroy the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, just as the LORD your God has commanded you. (18) THIS WILL KEEP THE PEOPLE OF THE LAND FROM TEACHING YOU THEIR DETESTABLE CUSTOMS IN THE WORSHIP OF THEIR GODS, WHICH COULD CAUSE YOU TO SIN DEEPLY AGAINST THE LORD YOUR GOD.” God never called us to COMPROMISE, He called us to be SET-APART, to be different; WHY? to be a testimony to the unbelieving world. So that it may know we serve God. That ONE bad apple who gave his God given hard earned money to the heathen Clintons, says it all!

Agree. And by supporting a one world agenda, the Salvation Army and The Fellowship of Christian Athletes are not being “set apart”. The Tower of Babel was the first attempt at one world government, and we see how G-d handled that situation.

I agree! Chic-fil-A has done nothing wrong. We as believers in Christ need to support and pray for one another. We are called to be light and salt in the earth. I will continue to pray for all Christian organizations and businesses. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

The scripture that God brought to my mind when reading this was:
You can’t straddle the fence, your either with me or against me.
Also we must remember, the road to heaven is narrow, but the road to hell is wide open.. I will be praying for Chick FIL A

There are Christians who are still employed there and many other businesses as well who do not hold to Christian values-but by being employed they are supporting their families through these places. There aren’t many companies here in America which do anymore and yet we still need to work and feed our families. We as Christians are commanded by God to be the salt and light no natter where. I say support them and realize that we still have to occupy ‘til He comes. There may not be any ‘Christian’ businesses left by then.

We need to pray. This is about powers of darkness trying to cover the Light of Christ. I pray Christ followers will strive to be in the world and not of it. I ask you, Holy Spirit to guide the leaders of this corporation.

Totally agree the power of darkness trying to cover the Light of Christ!!!!! Let us all pray for God’s light shine on all those who have webs in their eyes.

The executive director of the foundation was an Obama and Hillary supporter? I believe he betrayed his employees and customers but it helps make sense of why this happened. Yes, i will pray for the good people who manage and serve at Chick-Fil-A but I’ve lost my enthusiasm for the new one that is going to be built nearby. It feels like we’ve lost a good friend.

I agree. It is so disheartening that they have bowed to the pressure. It’s a crack in their armor and sadly most likely a sign of more changes to come.

Agreed. The start of compromise which I believe will lead to bigger issues. I’m very disappointed in their decision.

I do not believe that Chick Fil A has violated any biblical principles by withdrawing financial support from these organizations. In fact, just the opposite. I pray that the Christian world will open their eyes to this fact. The Salvation Army is supporting one world government through supporting & promoting sustainable development and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes supports LGBTQ rights, also part of the one world government agenda, both of which are clearly not supported by the bible. Yes, we must love all people, but that does not translate into supporting an agenda that is against biblical principles. I pray that Christians open their eyes to the evil that is lurking behind what they cannot see and open their eyes to this deception.

L – Please share where you are getting your facts about the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I find no evidence of either of you assertions.

This is on the Salvation Army website. This shows they are on board with and are promoting Sustainable Development. Sustainable Development aka UN Agenda 21 is a push toward one world government.

      https://www.salvationarmy.org/isjc/SDGs

The Fellowhip of Christian Athletes is associated with Christian Brothers University and CBU completely support the lifestyle according to their website. After reviewing it again, it appears that FCA does not support the lifestyle, but they are still connected to CBU, so I am not sure about them or why Chick Fil A has withdrawn their support, but I am clear about the Salvation Army from its website. See websites below. No one really understands why Chick Fil A has made this decision, but based on their past history, and based on the knowledge I have about these issues, I believe that they have not steered from their mission of serving G-d.

Thanks for the insights on SA. It does appear to be nefarious. Concerning FCA, they are affiliated with thousands and thousands of campuses. As a former VP of the organization I would not come to the conclusion you have.

          November 23, 2019

You’re welcome! Regarding FCA, if it was not clear in my last post, I said after reviewing it once again, I could not be sure since FCA appears not to be supporting the lifestyle itself, but the college they I saw them affiliated with did. Also, I could not find anything associating them with the promotion of sustainable development, so I withdraw the comments about them as stated in my original post. I said my conclusion is I was not sure why Chick Fil A withdrew their support from FCA, but I still believe Chick Fil A has not steered away from its mission to serve G-d. Just needed to clarify that.

Hello Dave and all, “As a former VP of the organization I would not come to the conclusion you have.”

The conclusion commenters have drawn on this sobering issue is mixed. I am shocked as well, yet I wonder – how many commenters still buy Starbucks, Levis’ jeans, shop at Target, and purchase items from countless other completely godless companies, who support evil agendas.

If we who feel Chick-fil-A has bowed to baal would excercise a bit more compassion, falling on our knees in intense prayer before boycotting this company, who has been under relentless attack for years, (apparently infiltrated?) – as the body of Christ, it would serve us all, and God’s kingdom purposes well.

These things must be spritually discerned through intense intercession – in order to gain a clearer, heavenly perspective, filled with the fear of the Lord as well as genuine love, not simply knee-jerk boycotting.

It does sound like they are trying to play on both sides of the fence. But this is one instance where I hope
I am wrong. It appears as if the Cathy leadership has had a change of heart and , again, I can only pray that is not the
Case. They have been a tower of Christian ethics, along with Hobby Lobby, and it is painful to think they might be
Starting to crumble. I am asking God to give strength to the owner/operators and a healing for the Cathy leadership
heart condition. I am thankful for your article alerting us to pray.

I am still trying to process all of this. I had this sick and very sad feeling when I heard this news, and still do. Of all companies, I never thought they would submit to the world. I must admit, I have a different view of Chick Fil A at the moment, and am praying for them. I have had 3 grandchildren to work for Chick Fil A over the past years, and always felt them to be in a good and Christian valued place, but now I am unsure. I know there are many, many, many good Godly people owning, working for this company and I am sure they to are most confused as I am. I know the Lord has honored/favored Chick Fil A for their Godly values and now I feel as if Chick Fil A gave in in some ways to the world’s standard. How in the world will they stand in the last days if they give in now. God’s Word calls us to love one another, but also, in love, to hold our fellow Christians accountable for their actions and to pray for them. To love everyone, but to serve and follow the Bible! I am praying and trusting the Lord for this company to do the right and Godly/Biblical valued thing.

I think We should pray for them, especially the Cathy family and be very careful in making judgements. God can move his heart to give where most will be impacted by the love of Jesus.

I would have liked the donations to go to Teen Challenge or some similar place that does have a Christian base, rather than Covenant house. But I will pray and see what happens. Sad news about executive donating to Hillary Clinton.I so highly respect Cathy and Chic Fil A….and will continue to support for now.

Amen! We Christians are so good at that.. under the bus thing.
Let’s mobilize and pray and give!
Can you imagine if the body of Christ rallied around just one of those organizations? We could make up the difference overnight. How awesome would that be!

Kipper, We, like you have Chick Fil A friends. This is really tough. We have Zaxby friends as well. We have been defaulting to Chick Fil A because of the Corporate stand even though we like Zax salads better. This decision by Chick Corp has us switched back to Zax salads. Really, really tough. Praying for Chick.

Sandy: Getting over the shock of their decision. I’m praying for them. I’ll still support them, but Unfortunately I didn’t want to but from them the other day like I usually do. I’m sad Chick decided to stop giving to Salvation Army & the Veterans, being a spouse of a veteran. Agree we need to keep praying- this is warfare.
