Stephen Moore, IFA’s guest on Pray with America’s Leaders today, wrote this interesting op-ed addressing President Biden’s claim that his economic policies have been a success. Most economists and analysts saw the jobs report for December as a disappointment – but not Joe Biden.
Instead, shortly after the announcement he rushed to the cameras and took a victory lap on the economy.
Biden boasted that no president in recent times has had a better first year in office when it comes to the kitchen table issues affecting Americans wallets. That may have been a jaw-dropper for most Americans given that the latest polls by Scott Rasmussen show Biden’s approval rating on handling the economy underwater at below 30%.
The president also declared “supply side economics” and Trump’s strategy of deregulation and tax rate cuts a failure compared to his strategy of blitzing the economy with government debt-financed spending.
Not so fast.
Biden got one thing right; the job market is strong today with an unemployment rate now below 4% and millions of jobs available as the post-COVID business recovery rolled forward in December. But Biden should be careful when he spikes the football at the three-yard line, because job growth has been rapidly slowing on his watch and could even go negative again at the end of this month due to the fast spread of omicron and the reclosing of many businesses and schools.
Remember, this is the man who boldly and repeatedly promised while campaigning for president that he would “defeat the virus.” This isn’t just a health policy failure by team Biden. He lectured while Donald Trump was in the Oval Office that no real economic recovery was possible until the virus was eradicated. “The virus is in charge,” the Democrats said. Now with the new contagion affecting more Americans than ever and new rounds of lockdowns and mandates, the economy is slumping again. Polls show that a majority of Americans also disapprove of the way Biden has dealt with this virus.
Biden boasted of adding 6.4 million new jobs this year. But we lost more than 20 million jobs during the pandemic. And since the pandemic peak in the summer of 2021, employers added back 12.6 million in Trump’s last seven months in office.
In other words: Trump added almost twice as many jobs in a little more than half the time. So much for the failures of Trump’s supply-side tax-cutting strategy.
Biden also credited his American Rescue Plan and the $1.9 trillion it dumped into the economy starting in March. But the economy was adding an average of 1.3 million jobs a month before passing Biden’s wasteful spending package versus half a million jobs per month since his first debt bill saturated the economy. This may be one reason why so many Americans are longing for the days of Trump’s Make America Great Again tax, trade and regulatory policies.
Biden also failed to make reference to two sinister forces that voters realize may soon rain out the Biden parade. First, is the mysterious disappearance of the American workers. Yes, labor force participation was up for the year, but that doesn’t mask that it is at a troubling, near-record low and that it is way below the level under Trump before COVID hit in February 2020.
Other than at the height of the first wave of the pandemic, the percentage of Americans who are of working age and who are in a job hasn’t been this low since February 1977 – 45 years ago. We should and would have at least 4 to 5 million more Americans working today if it were not for Biden’s expansion of welfare programs like food stamps, rental assistance and monthly per-child cash payments. Casey Mulligan, an economist at the University of Chicago, has shown that this assortment of benefits can pay many Americans as much money as if they got back on the job. So why work?
Finally, there is the uncorking of the other virus hurting Americans – inflation. While the president was boasting of wage gains for bartenders, kitchen help and waitresses, he ignored an inconvenient truth: for six straight months now, prices have been rising faster than wages. Wages are up on average by about 4.6% this past year, but price inflation is up more than 6%.
Sorry, Lunch Bucket Joe. This means most low- and moderate-income workers are actually suffering a DECLINE in the purchasing power of their paychecks. It’s as plain as the gas price posted on the big signs at the corner service stations. This is what I have been calling the Biden Inflation Tax, and it’s a direct result of all the debt spending that is pouring like an uncapped fire hose into the economy.
If this is how the Biden White House defines economic success, we shudder to think what failure looks like.

It appears that this nation is pulling further and further away from you, which is crippling to say the least. “Right” has become “wrong” and “wrong” has become “right.” Please open the blind eyes of the people, especially our leaders, starting with the President down to the low levels of government and reveal truth to them. Open their hearts and pour your insight and wisdom into them. Let them know that they are the ones to set the example for people to follow. Even if many don’t agree, our leaders will be leading according to your direction and guidance, and they will make a positive impact on this nation. I just read through about 3/4 of the comments here and while it’s true that we’re being asked to comment, let’s not waste our time complaining but use this opportunity to pray. Father God, we know that you’re in control and I believe that you have a plan and it’s to save America. Please, guide us to pray strategically and effectively and according to your will. This president is not speaking truth. We bind his untruths and pray that they will be exposed and the truth will continue to come out. I pray that the media will return to objective reporting, stop promoting their own political agendas and start priding themselves instead on digging out the truth and exposing the corruption and deceit in our government. This is the worst of the worst Presidents we have had up to this point! There’s many many presidents that have been involved in horrific things that nobody knows about but this one at this point has destroyed many things in America in a very short. Of time! Even though he’s the puppet and the master of the puppet is Obama and whoever else that is pulling the strings! One of them I’m sure is his wife! God is my provider. I do not put my trust in man. From all that I can see, all of them are looking out for themselves. They don’t care for the hungry, the sick, the homeless. They are getting richer and richer. America is in deep trouble and we will have to answer for a lot of sins committed against God.

Just got a notice abouthow many stores are going to close in my area. That’s means thousands of job losses and open for Biden Harris to sell these companies to foreign investors. Biden Harris closing of businesses, farms and ranchers is much worse than the decline of our economy under Obama Biden 8 years. Increasing miinumin wages and supporting illegals doesn’t help.
If having the food at the table and varely keeping a roof over our heads every month and being unable to find employment due to vaccine mandates, inflation, and infestation of drug, and immigrants coming across the border is a good job “we all know it’s not.!” Just like the fact that many officials are aware of the corruption but chose to ignore it since, it provides an extra financial advantage. I completely disagree. The prices of everything I buy have gone up. Gas is up over $1.50 per gallon. The price of groceries is up. The cost of dining out has gone up.

I don’t think so, Biden, prices have skyrocketed and many people cannot even afford to buy meat for their families, gas is high as well, and I don’t know the unemployment rates but here many people are out of jobs because you have been supporting them with money every month, so businesses are all hiring but no one is applying. Schools are a mess because of all the pandemic lies and mandates, and many people are fearing for their jobs, the ones who are working! Better with Biden? I don’t think so.

Stephen Moore did a good job explaining Biden’s economic insanity in this article and in his interview with Dave Kubal which aired on the prayer call this morning. What Biden said would cost taxpayers “nothing” is costing us 2-3 trillion dollars in debt. Bankrupting the country by borrowing 3-5 trillion dollars we don’t have to make people more dependent on the government, including paying them not to work, is, among other things, fiscal child abuse against the next generations. Inflation of 6-8% (under President Trump it was 2%) kills low income people. Those who earn $50,000 a year will be taking the equivalent of a $1,200 pay cut this year because of higher prices.
Pray against the spiritual forces fueling all this delusion and pray for those deluded to come to the knowledge of the truth.

There is so much wrong with our current leadership in Washington, D.C. Please enlighten our government officials that all power comes from you.

5 days ago I spoke to a business owner, who told me Biden’s economic policies are putting him out of business. Later that same day, a restaurant owner told me he can no longer afford to serve beef because Biden’s economic policies have driven the cost of beef up more than he can afford to pay. Before going there, we went to another restaurant that was closed with a sign on the door that said, “Closed due to supply problems.” I know from studying other sources that supply problems in the USA were caused by Biden’s policies. Many truck drivers are now unemployed because they refuse to obey Biden’s covid shot mandates. Biden is running this country like a dictator.
Thank you for the updates. Our nation is being destroyed right under our noses and I for one don’t know how to stop it. We are well on our way to socialism/communism and this just sickens me. My ancestors as well as yours fought hard for America’s many freedoms and they are quickly being taken away. Biden and the other powers that be are slowly destroying anything of value and freedom. Two years ago I never thought we’d be in the shape we are in and I dread to think what even a year from now will look like. Today’s dollar has been weakened solely because of this administration and it’s reckless spending. People are hurting, supplies have skyrocketed in price and supply chains have been “purposely disrupted” by this administration who have inept appointees that think ‘nothing is wrong’.
Lord God, remove from office those who purposely lie, deceive, destroy and refuse to honorably serve our nation, cities, towns and people. We ask that they would be replaced by people who want to be servants, who value truth and honesty, people that love You, Your commandments and who love our nation. Praying for this President and his administration has been difficult for me to say the least. In all honesty it has been nearly impossible. How does one pray for and support evil? How can someone pray for satan’s success? These are questions that I put up in prayer. I guess in essence the best that I as a human being can offer is that The Lord prevents Biden and his minions to do no further harm. What is taking place today is a great evil. In all of my years I have not seen such widespread evil. Oh there have been plenty of evil times in my life don’t get me wrong yet evil has reached its tentacles over a wide swath and it continues to grow. There is no denying this. What I will continue to do however is ask for wisdom. Lord help us to never forget to help one another in times of distress. We who believe are one in Christ regardless of race or ethnicity. God grant us the wisdom to care for one another regardless of circumstances in the world. Lord our ONLY hope is to turn to YOU.

Open the eyes of our people, grant us an extension of Your mercy. We cannot undo Your plans to move the world towards a One World Government, the things You say are to happen in Your Word, but we ask that You would intervene in holding back some of these dark forces, that great numbers of people would be convicted of sin, of righteousness and judgment and be saved. Not having the income to find decent places to live, food to eat, and not even having decent jobs. While the current administration feeds those that are not working, those that are working are paying a high price to do so.
I pray that God will intervene and send His Spirit to those in charge giving them the wisdom they need to bring this country back to some type of “normal” so that the people will be able to live and not fear for the future.
