Graced with a coveted A+ CinemaScore, the controversial anti-abortion drama Unplanned opened to a strong $6.1 million from 1,059 theaters at the U.S. box office despite a relatively modest footprint.
The R-rated film — landing in fifth place — scored the second-biggest start ever for faith-based distributor Pure Flix behind God’s Not Dead 2 ($7.6 million). The Christian pic did its biggest business in the Midwest and South. . . .
‘We are thrilled, gratified and humbled,’ co-directors Cary Solomon and Chuck Konzelman said Sunday in a statement. ‘We are so pleased that the American people have responded with such an enormous outpouring of support at the box office. It humbles us and we look forward to seeing what happens in the weeks ahead.’

In our community several churches went together to buy out the theater for a one night showing March 27 and provided church members either free or minimal cost tickets. The theater was PACKED OUT totally and you could hear a pin drop. The abortionist had been a real abortionist having killed 1200 babies by his own statement then found the Lord or the Lord found him. Since then, he is fully pro-life. I pray that this film will stay and be seen by more impressionable audiences and ultimately cause Roe vs Wade to be cancelled as “the law of the land”.
I saw this powerful film twice, first with my mother. It was an amazing grace to see it together, because in 1971, my mother took me to an abortion clinic in New York City, when I was 16, taking a flight from Cincinnati, and this traumatic experience was something that God used to humble me and to bring me to Himself, since I felt such remorse and grief. Even though not coming from a practicing Christian family, I knew within my heart that this abortion had been a very evil deed. God rescued me from suicidal thoughts and actions, and for this I thank God how an unborn child brought salvation to me and to my mother. Lord, please bring a deeper healing to my mother and I, so that we are able to unashamedly speak out for the unborn and to proclaim Your amazing grace towards anyone who repents of their sins. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
This movie is the battering ram to force Americans to deal with the lies and deceptions which promote abortion.
Lord, I pray and declare and decree that Roe vs. Wade will be overturned .
I believe ‘Unplanned’ is one of the tools that God is using.
Take your teens to see this movie…talk to them about the “rights” of all people (men and women) to have “control” of their bodies and to make choices…how God commands us to assume responsibility for our bodily acts and our will…which all begins before having sex, when we have only responsibility for ourselves…after the act, when we have conceived, our choices now include another person who faces life or death depending upon parental “choice”…this unborn baby cannot cry out and demand a chance to live. What shall we call the act of abortion? It is the withdrawal of rights…the unborn’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as an individual. Don’t be deceived by our society, a woman’s (and man’s) bodily rights to choose reach far beyond a sexual act and a choice to abort a child. They include our responsibility to God, ourselves, our family and a life or death future for that baby. Our choices influence others, even to other generations. Face the fact, God’s moral code protects us all; it helps us embrace discipline, responsibility and a type of thinking that grows us and supports God’s laws of LOVE.
Excellent movie in revealing truth about what abortion really is, who Planned Parenthood really is and the beautiful redemption available to all who’ve been wounded by abortion. Every person needs to see this movie. Parents please take your pre-teens and teens to see this movie so they will know the truth about abortion and prayerfully be moved to stand up for the unborn now and as their generation moves into the leadership roles in our nation. Saw the movie with a dear friend last evening. So glad we could cry together at the difficult places. The impact of those that have prayed for those going to Planned Parenthood to have abortions was so powerful. It is a testimony to never never never stop praying. As our Lord told his disciples. Oh Lord forgive us as your people remove this horror from our Land. I can only say Amen to all the comments read. One will never be the same after seeing Unplanned.

She decided she couldn’t go through with it when she remembered what it says in Psalm 139. What I had not known until we saw the movie, is how forcefully the father of the baby had pushed her to get an abortion. Also all her friends told her that would be the best thing to do. It is a movie that all young people should see. The lies, and greed behind Planned Parenthood is is exposed.I am praying for the Lord to heal the women who were forced into a situation they did not want, and for the healing of our country, because we have allowed this. I saw the movie at the first showing at my local theater. It was sold out and every seat full. It deserves many accolades on many levels. Yes it’s hard to see the truth of the reality of abortion but something everyone should know.

I saw this movie on opening day. It was accurate, compassionate, compelling, and revealing. Please bring your friends and family who are lukewarm when it comes to this subject. I thank those who poured their lives into making this film. May your days be full of Gods’ fullness and may we finally see the end to abortion worldwide. May many turn to God and commit their lives and may many find His forgiveness and their salvation through this film.

I have not seen the movie but have read Abby Johnson’s book. I’m very thankful the movie is having success and pray it continues to do so. Praying for seeds to be planted in the hearts and spirits of the viewers. Praying for the modern alters of Baal and Molach to be torn down.
I am pro life ..period .. but this movie touches the soul and compels the heart to SEE AND EXPERIENCE THE GRAVITY OF THIS HORROR! It also reveals the deep anguish of women who have made this choice. I entered their grief. I wept for them but I rejoiced in the Redemptive Hand of God through prayer and repentance ! I will never be the same. He will Reign!

I went with a few women to see Unplanned and we were deeply moved. The movie was so well done, well-acted, and realistic. I was undone by the reality of what goes on behind the doors of Planned Parenthood – the sales tactics, the lying to “patients”, the blunt reality of what abortion actually is. This movie will give a true image of what people are voting for when they have the chance to vote pro-choice vs pro-life. Seeing what abortion does to the mothers 😭. It was worth watching, and moved my heart in so many good ways I will never be the same. I believe this movie has singlehandedly impacted me more than anything I’ve ever heard or seen related to abortion and the fight for life.
I second Aubrey’s comment. We saw the movie Saturday evening. There was an individual in front of the multi-screen theater promoting “Unplanned”. It was a powerful movie and certainly helped to unmask Planned Parenthood.

They tried to silence her voice, removed her posts, refused to sell her ads…She started opening weekend with a meager 3k twitter followers…by the end topped 200k!

Yes, a few scenes were difficult, but they MOVED us. I think the greatest impact was on my son. He went into the movie thinking anyone who has a abortion to be pure evil…came out with a better understanding of how a young girl could be alone and scared.
Also, the mans role in the “situation “, which is largely ignored today.
I would love to see youth groups around the county going to see it…as well as some friends who believe in the “ woman’s right to choose”.
I saw this movie on Sunday. It is powerful, compelling and impactful and should be seen by everyone, in my opinion, particularly those in their teens. As for the R rating, there are worse PG 13’s out there.
Lord God Almighty I ask that all who see this movie will see and understand the truth of it. Bring healing to those who have taken that course and have suffered from their decision and actions. I saw this film on Saturday. It does not deserve the R rating in my opinion. Although hard to watch in places, it is very discreetly, modestly done. Parents and youth ministers of teenagers should take their teens to see it. Truth is told and it is a true story!
