Acting Secretary of Defense Pat Shanahan said the steps taken to bolster the U.S. military presence in the Middle East have deterred Iran and “put on hold the potential for attacks on Americans,” even as Iran carried out other attacks.
“It doesn’t mean that the threats that we previously identified have gone away. Our prudent response, I think, has given Iranians time to recalculate,” Shanahan told reporters at the Pentagon Tuesday.
“We talked about those threats, and there were attacks,” Shanahan said.
Asked to clarify what attacks he was referring to, Pentagon spokesman Lt. Col. Joe Buccino told VOA that U.S. intelligence points to Iran as “highly likely responsible” for the attack on four oil tankers in the Persian Gulf.

The secretary and other officials are scheduled to brief members of Congress in a closed-door session later Tuesday about the military threat the White House says Iran poses in the Middle East.
Among those going to Capitol Hill are Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Shanahan and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford.
U.S. lawmakers have demanded information about the Iranian threat for days.
President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran has been “very hostile,” and that the United States will have no choice but to respond to Iranian aggression “with great force.”

Father I pray for our Military, the leaders and our President and congress that the spirit of unity and love prevail over all decisions. Wisdom and Courage to do what is right in your eyes.I pray that every plan of the enemy be exposed and thwarted. I pray for their protection and their families to have strength and courage in this time. We thank You , Lord for the huge underground church in Iran, for their courage and devotion. We ask that they each and every one have a Bible to use to keep safe, have provision and to learn the law of love. Please protect the church from discovery by those who would denounce them, and help the church to grow strong, so that when their government is finally overthrown, Iran will have a strong Christian basis for law and conduct. We declare that the government will not come down in battle, but just like Romania, Uganda, the Berlin wall, the collapse of the USSR, there will be a bloodless transition, for the sake of the people. Lord strengthen the church in Iran and protect it. Raise up modern day disciples and apostles that your Word may go forth not just in word, but also in power and deed. Change this country from the inside out. I agree for a bloodless revolution. Jesus be Lord over Iran. Thank for your love for these people.
Iran is ran by the most radicalized form of IsIam, the 12vers. They believe the world Isiamic caliphate will appear after they create a world wide bloodbath, so don’t think they have gone to sleep. Until they are soundly defeated their plans for self destruction are real and agressive.

Give us the wisdom to do what is right and forgive our sins and the sins of our nation . You do not hold onto anger forever for You are a God of mercy . Your arm is not short that You cannot save nor is Your ear so dull that You cannot hear. Overturn the plots and deeds of our enemies and give us peace in our day . Expose evil and release Your Holy Spirit to guide us as a nation . We need You . Come .

I pray for Your kingdom to come and for the lion and lamb to be able to lie down together. I pray for all military personnel and especially those who are in harm’s way as they are trying to defend our country. May You surround them with Your protection,Your wisdom and Your guidance. May they feel the presence of Almighty God and may they be drawn to the cross to walk daily in Your righteous ways. Surround their families with love and give them the desire to seek You to guide their steps. Lord I humbly ask that You turn back on the enemy what they have planned for the innocent. Lord Jesus please impart Your spirit of wisdom, understanding,counsel,strength, knowledge, and a fear of the Lord to President Trump so that Your will may be accomplished.May he continue to stand as a friend to Your beloved Israel and may Your blessings be poured out upon him.I lift on high the precious name of Jesus who is forever the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Please give great wisdom and discernment to our President and our miltary leaders. We ask for cool heads to prevail and for the incessant negativity towards our conservative leaders to end. It is not helpful for those countries who would plan evil and harm against our nation and Christians, Jews and people of faith to be emboldened by all the
retoric. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for the hidden things to be revealed. Psalm 5.
