Our Programs

Five primary scriptures continue to undergird the corporate prayer efforts of Intercessors for America (IFA) since its establishment in 1973: 2 Chronicles 7.14 calls on God's people to repent, pray, turn from wicked ways with the promise that God will respond with healing for the nation; Ezekiel 22:29-31 declares that God, in His great mercy, is looking for even one who will "stand in the gap" and help avert judgment,
1 Timothy 2:14
establishes a clear priority to pray for all men to be saved and for those in authority to establish good government as a means of producing a godly society and a propagation of the gospel;
  2 Corinthians 10:3A describes our weapons of warfare as not being carnal, but divinely powerful to the destruction of demonic strongholds; Matthew 16:18 assures us that the gates of Hell will not prevail against the Church as it labors to preach the gospel and establish Christ's kingdom across America and to the ends of the earth.

FIRST FRIDAY PRAYER & FASTING

IFA follows in the pattern of America's founding churches whose members formed "prayer and reformation societies" to help effect revival in the Church and bring about reformation to correct "disorders in the land." A monthly First Friday newsletter, now published systematically for over twenty years, helps unite and focus tens of thousands of U.S. believers, prayer groups and 5,000 churches in monthly First Friday prayer and fasting. Written from a biblical perspective, it contains timely national reports, accounts of revival and answered prayer, inspirational and informative teaching and sets a First Friday Prayer Focus. It is provided to individuals upon request and is available in bulk quantities for distribution in churches , prayer groups, bookstores, schools, prisons, elderly care facilities, waiting rooms, etc. Fasting is encouraged during the First Friday observance as a Christian discipline and a biblical way of humbling ourselves and intensifying our prayers.

CHURCH PRAY!

Launched in 1990, this corporate prayer service to local churches provides either pre-printed or camera-ready Sunday bulletin inserts which outline a weekly prayer focus and include short teachings on prayer. A survey has shown that 250,000 or more believers are now "praying in agreement" during weekend worship and prayer services in congregations across the U.S. Pastors report their churches becoming more prayer and mission minded and that they are seeing an impact upon their areas as they engage in corporate intercession.

YIFA - YOUTH INTERCEDING FOR AMERICA

College and high school age youth have been joining the ranks of IFA through outreaches to various Christian youth conferences, from the growing home school movement, and from partnering with the National Network of Youth
Ministries. IFA will be happy to supply bulk quantities of the First Friday newsletter to any student, campus club, school or group of young people upon request. A Youth Advisory Council is being set into place next to the governing Board of IFA. Watching in Your Generation seminars and youth rallies are often conducted or regional IFA in conjunction with local church or regional IFA prayer seminars.

RECONCILIATION

A "ripple effect" continues from IFA's 1995 National Prayer Conference, A Time For Healing, which explored the Church's ministry of reconciliation. (2 Cor 5:17-20; Eph 2:14-16) Tapes of this conference are available. IFA routinely prays for and encourages unity in the body of Christ and racial reconciliation. IFA partners with leadership representing diverse denominational and ethnic backgrounds. Working in association with the Prince of Peace Embassy in Washington, DC, IFA sponsors leadership luncheons, First Friday evening prayer on embassy row and cooperates on international intercessory and reconciliation initiatives. IFA is also helping to launch Jimmy and Carol Owens' new intercessory cantata, Heal Our Land, which is be ing presented in cities across the nation through the turn of the century. This moving musical "concert of prayer" unites local pastors and believers, releases meaningful intercession and helps spark revival. For information on how Heal Our Land can be performed in your area, write: Heal Our Land, 1030 Damascus Circle, Costa Mesa, CA 92626.
