The last month has been difficult for our persecuted family - January 18, 2011

From our viewpoint, the last month has been difficult for our persecuted family.

The bombings of Churches in Iraq, Egypt and Nigeria with many Believers killed. Christians in Iraq having to flee from the violence against them. Churches closed and Believers blocked from worshiping in Indonesia. Continued violence against Christians in India. And the list goes on...

Our brief prayers for BLU are a testimony to an unbelieving world, an act of faith in God, and a show of love to our suffering sisters and brothers in Christ who are enduring unspeakable atrocities.  The apostle Paul, who was often persecuted, reminds us:

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing." (II Cor 2:14-15, NIV)

Since Christmas, there has been as many as 70 Believers detained or arrested in Iran.  Many of them were new Believers (an answer to our BLU prayers).  Thankfully, most have been released but at least 12 still remain in custody.  Some statements from government officials indicate that Iran Cross & Crescentwants to try to stop the growth of the underground Church and therefore is increasing police activity against Christians.  Our prayers for protection cover all the Believers in Iran and around the world who need protection on a regular basis.

In an amazing event in Egypt, many Muslims have taken a stand against the recent violence toward Christians punctuated by the bombing of the Coptic Church in Alexandria on Dec 31 that killed 21 people.  So much so that thousands formed a "human shield" for a Coptic Church service on January 6.  Among those were Egyptian movie stars (Adel Imam and Yousra), Amr Khaled (a popular Muslim speaker) and the two sons of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.  In answer to our prayers, God changed hearts and opened doors.  We pray that out of tragedy, the knowledge of Jesus Christ will spread from Egypt to the entire world of the Persecuted Church!

Through our prayers, may our persecuted family be the fragrance of Jesus Christ to an unbelieving world and to those who persecute them!  Thank you for your commitment to pray for BLU!

Our BLU prayer asks God to do mighty things for the Persecuted Church!

Believers - protection, provision, perseverance, power (boldness to share Christ) Leaders (Christian) - more strength & courage, more Christian leaders to shepherd God's flock. Unbelievers - eyes, hearts & minds blinded by Satan, would be opened by the Spirit of God
