Palestinian Passover Plot

Israeli intelligence reveals mounting evidence of a well-coordinated, multi-target attack against Israel during the Passover season by a number of terrorist organizations.

According to a special DEBKAfile report, "A massive ingathering of terrorist forces – Palestinians, the pro-Iran Lebanese Hezbollah and al-Qaida cells scattered around the Middle East and the Gulf – is underway, preparatory to the launch of a large-scale terror offensive around March 25, three days before the Jewish spring festival of Passover."

According to the same report:

The Palestinian-led terror offensive will be multi-faceted in terms of weaponry and targets.

From different locations on the West Bank, rockets of the Qassem type will be fired in continuous volleys on central and southern Israeli towns.

Special Palestinian commando raider units will storm Jewish settlements – as well as army camps and posts in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and locations across the border inside Israel.

These commando units have been training secretly in Palestinian areas, away from the day-to-day routine of terrorist strikes and combat. According to information reaching Israel and the United States, these shock troops are being inducted in guerrilla tactics by non-Palestinian experts, especially imported for the purpose by Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

One such expert is an Iraqi military intelligence lieutenant colonel. Another is a Hezbollah colonel, who obtained his training from Revolutionary Guards instructors in Iran.

They are not the only non-Palestinians Arafat has recruited for his do-or-die onslaught. Intelligence information reaching Israel speaks of groups of Hezbollah and al-Qaida militants, including Kurds and Chechens, trickling into the West Bank in recent days.

Israeli military experts see the operational hands of Kurdish or Chechen al-Qaida militants in the recent Palestinian campaign against Israeli military roadblocks in the West Bank, possibly under the command of a Hezbollah officer.

This is one of the primary reasons Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has finally gone on the offensive and launched military assaults on the Palestinian Refugee camps, which are the operational center of the terrorist organizations.

These attacks are extremely dangerous for the Israeli soldiers. In fact no army has conducted a house-to-house assault against heavily fortified cities with narrow streets since World War II. Even the vaunted Spetsnaz special forces of the Russian army have not tried this kind of assault against the Chechen village strongholds.

Using brilliantly planned tactics, the elite Israeli Defense Force units have been able to confound the well-trained and heavily armed defenders and inflict heavy casualties on them while suffering amazingly few themselves.

As of now, more than a thousand Palestinian terrorists have been forced to surrender and give up their arms in the Tulkarm refugee camp near Jenin. Those captured included several hundred of Arafat's Fatah-Tanzim and al Aqsa Brigade terrorists along with their commanders. They captured bomb and Qassem rocket factories along with large caches of weapons and ammunitions.

The Israeli military also received reliable evidence that a major terrorist attack the magnitude of the Sept. 11 U.S. attack is being planned for Israel around the same Passover season. The attack would seek to inflict massive casualties on the Israeli population, most likely in Tel Aviv and the Ben Gurion Airport.

The Israeli generals view these combined threats so great that they are methodically mobilizing 200,000 reserves into the army. They have also greatly beefed up their air and anti-missile defenses with the help of two Patriot batteries from the U.S. There is a real threat that an airliner could be hijacked and flown into an Israeli target.

It now appears that Arafat believes he can lead the Muslim world into a final offensive to drive Israel out of the Middle East. He is drawing upon every radical Muslim force from around the globe to finally accomplish the ultimate goal of the Muslim world – to annihilate the state of Israel.
