ISRAEL WORKS TO
NEUTRALIZE RUSSIAN-MADE
IRANIAN AIR DEFENSES
If Russia goes
through with the sale of its most
advanced anti-aircraft missile system to
Iran, Israel will use an electronic
warfare device now under development to
neutralize it and as a result present
Russia as vulnerable to air
infiltrations, a top defense official
has told The Jerusalem Post. The Russian
S-300 system has a reported ability to
track up to 100 targets simultaneously
while engaging up to 12 at the same time
at a range of about 200 km.
Neutralization of one of the main
components of Russian air defense would
be a blow to Russian national security
as well as to defense exports. "No
country will want to buy the system if
it is proven to be ineffective," the
official said. "For these reasons,
Russia may not deliver it in the end to
Iran." (Jerusalem Post 8/8/08)

Whoever would draw near to God must
believe that He exists
and that he rewards those who seek him.
- Hebrews 11:6
Never say, 'I've had enough. What's the
use of believing?' That would
be throwing away the crown which will be
granted to those who
keep faith. Say instead, 'I won't give
up, for You are alive,
my Lord and my God. You see me, and You
will not let me
be tempted beyond my strength. I trust
in You!'

CHINA: A CALL TO
PRAYER
Ten thousand Chinese become Christians
each day, according to a stunning report
by the National Catholic Reporter's
veteran correspondent John Allen, and
200 million Chinese may comprise the
world's largest concentration of
Christians by mid-century, and the
largest missionary force in history.
(Asia Times 8/7/07)
The World Christian Database offers by
far the largest estimate of the number
of Chinese Christians at 111 million, of
whom 90% are Protestant, mostly
Pentecostals.
OLYMPICS: Let us agree in prayer
that the Lord will expose and thwart
the spread of nuclear materials,
devices, missiles, and bombs. Pray
for all in intelligence agencies who
are "on watch" against nuclear,
biological, and chemical terrorist
devices and plans. Pray that any
terrorists who would be attempting
to detonate nuclear or other weapons
of mass destruction be exposed,
arrested and brought to swift
justice and to redemption.
Population (July 2007 est.):
1,321,851,888.
On the
Negative Side:
Government: Communist
party-led state. In March 2003, General
Secretary Hu Jintao was elected
President. Political parties: Chinese
Communist Party, 8 minor parties under
Communist Party supervision.
Religions:
Officially atheist. Religion plays a
significant part in the life of many
Chinese. Buddhism is most widely
practiced, with an estimated 100
million adherents. Traditional
Taoism also is practiced. Official
figures indicate there are 20
million Muslims, 15 million
Protestants, and 5 million
Catholics; unofficial estimates are
much higher.
While the Chinese constitution
affirms religious toleration, the
Chinese Government places
restrictions on religious practice
outside officially recognized
organizations. Only two Christian
organizations, a Catholic church
without official ties to Rome and
the "Three-Self-Patriotic"
Protestant church, are sanctioned by
the Chinese Government. Unauthorized
churches have sprung up in many
parts of the country and unofficial
religious practice is flourishing.
In some regions authorities have
tried to control activities of these
unregistered churches. In other
regions, registered and unregistered
groups are treated similarly by
authorities and congregations
worship in both types of churches.
Most Chinese Catholic bishops are
recognized by the Pope. See the
"Persecution" page at the IFA
website.
Population Policy:
With a population officially
just over 1.3 billion, China is
very concerned about its
population growth and has
attempted with mixed results to
implement a strict birth
limitation policy (one per
family)
The U.S. Department of State
International Religious Freedom
Reports noted China's
well-documented and continuing
abuses of human rights in
violation of internationally
recognized norms, stemming both
from the authorities'
intolerance of dissent and the
inadequacy of legal safeguards
for basic freedoms. Reported
abuses have included arbitrary
and lengthy incommunicado
detention, forced confessions,
torture, and mistreatment of
prisoners as well as severe
restrictions on freedom of
speech, the press, assembly,
association, religion, privacy,
worker rights, and coercive
birth limitation. In 2006, China
continued the monitoring,
harassment, intimidation, and
arrest of journalists, Internet
writers, defense lawyers,
religious activists, and
political dissidents.
Environment:
One of the serious negative
consequences of China's
rapid industrial development
has been increased pollution
and degradation of natural
resources. Some analysts
estimate that China
surpassed the United States
as the world's largest
emitter of carbon dioxide
and other greenhouse gases
in 2007. A World Health
Organization report on air
quality in 272 cities
worldwide concluded that
seven of the world's 10 most
polluted cities were in
China. Respiratory and heart
diseases related to air
pollution are the leading
cause of death in China.
Almost all of the nation's
rivers are considered
polluted to some degree.
On the positive side:
Christian History:
Christianity was introduced to
China at least as early as the
seventh century. The
introduction of Assyrian Church
of the East, around 635 is
considered by some to be the
first entry of the Christian
religion into China.
During the Tang dynasty,
missionaries from the Church
of the East (often referred
to as 'Nestorian' as it
follows the doctrines of
Bishop Nestorius) came to
China via the Silk Road.
Nestorianism flourished for
a while in China but the
Tang dynasty adopted
anti-religious measures in
845. Meanwhile, Christianity
reached the periphery of
China as far as Mongolia.

THE CALL DC AUGUST 16,
2008
A brief glance at the headlines
of our daily newspapers exposes
the frailty of the moral fabric
of our nation as the corruption
of sin digs its claws deeper and
deeper into the hearts and minds
of our young people.
Abortion continues to claim over
1.6 million unborn lives every
year in the U.S., wiping out
nearly one-third of an entire
generation born since 1973.
The growing slave trade of
pornography, homosexuality,
human trafficking, and sexual
perversion - not only accepted
by the culture, but now
shamelessly promoted by it - has
claimed countless young men and
women, pilfering the Kingdom of
the Lord's inheritance.
In 2000, 400,000 people, both
young and old, gathered on the
National Mall in Washington, DC
to fast and pray believing the
dream that a nation can change.
That gathering and many others
have imprinted tens of thousands
of young people, initiating a
24-hour prayer revolution and
inspiring a dream in their
hearts that they could be a
voice and real agents for
change. Our nation continues in
crisis and we feel it is time
for TheCall to go to a national
scale in another historic
gathering in our nation's
capital.
TheCall isn't a conference or a
festival; it is a solemn
assembly - a gathering of all
ages, races and denominations.
The 12 hours of TheCall are
spent primarily before the Lord
in the place of repentance,
prayer, and worship. The hour is
late and the time is urgent. Our
nation is in desperate need of
revival. We are seeing some
signs of God moving, but we do
not have what we need.
Full-scale revival is only
ushered in through the
collective body of Christ
uniting in repentance and
prevailing prayer.
When there seems to be no
remedy, when there seems to be
no hope for a nation, God still
has a holy prescription . . .
God has a dream. "Blow the
trumpet in Zion, gather the
people, call a fast." (Joel
2:12-18)
See you from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
at the DC National Mall on
Saturday, August 16th! Pre-Call
conferences are also convening.
- Gary Bergel, IFA President,
TheCall DC Advisory Council

small groups to join us for a

SON OF TOP HAMAS
LEADER CONVERTS
'I
hope my father and family open their
eyes to Jesus and the Kingdom of
God'
Offer thanksgiving
for the harvest coming in from among the
Jewish and all Semitic peoples of the
Middle East. Pray that the Lord would
draw more conversions among key
terrorist families.
In an exclusive
interview with Israel's Haaretz
newspaper, Masab Yousuf, son of West
Bank Hamas leader Sheik Hassan Yousef,
slammed Hamas, praised Israel and said
he hoped his terrorist father will open
his eyes to Jesus and to Christianity.
Masab's father is considered the most
popular Hamas figure in the West Bank.
The son of one of the
most popular leaders in the Hamas
terrorist organization has moved to the
U.S. and converted to Christianity, it
has emerged.
"I know that I'm
endangering my life and am even liable
to lose my father, but I hope that he'll
understand this and that God will give
him and my family patience and
willingness to open their eyes to Jesus
and to Christianity. Maybe one day I'll
be able to return to Palestine and to
Ramallah with Jesus, in the Kingdom of
God," Masab said. (worldnetdaily.com

COULD NUCLEAR WEAPONS SOON FALL UNDER
THE CONTROL OF THE TALIBAN?
The leaders of
Pakistan's two main political parties,
who are drawing up charges against
Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf,
will formally request that Musharraf
step down or face impeachment. Musharraf,
a dictator before the recent election
orchestrated by the Bush Administration
to continue its nation-building program
under democracy, has continued to lose
power since the election. The two
parties--the Pakistan People's Party and
the Pakistan Muslim League--have taken
action to include the Taliban and al
Qaeda in discussions about the future of
the nuclear armed nation. The latest
news not only spells trouble for
Musharraf, but also for the non-Muslim
world.
The CIA has leaked
that Pakistan's premier spy agency, the
powerful Inter-Services Intelligence or
ISI, is working with Taliban terrorists
and had helped Islamic terrorists bomb
the Indian Embassy in Afghanistan on
July 7th. At first the Pakistani
government denied the accusation, but
has since conceded that the ISI was
involved. The U.S. has further alleged
that the ISI has funded, supported and
trained Taliban terrorists. If these
allegations are true, and they probably
are, U.S. taxpayers' money has likely
gone to train terrorists that are
killing American soldiers in
Afghanistan.
The consequences are
dire--nuclear weapons could soon fall
under the control of the Taliban and
Osama bin Laden. (Daily Jot 8/7/08)

Your Eyes and Pray! - Nuclear
Proliferation"

armed with nuclear weapons. |
