Let us affirm the Lordship, supremacy, redemption and finished work of Christ from Colossians 1:12-18, 2:15.  Intercede as the Lord leads.  Recognizing that it is the nature of God's adversary, Satan, and not the nature and heart of Abba, our heavenly Father, to "kill, steal, devour and destroy," let us cry out for mercy and for the protection and redemption of the whole of the human family.

OBAMA OPEN TO DIVIDE JERUSALEM

Assures Palestinians his declaration to Jewish group was 'misunderstanding'

Intercede for spiritual statesmen and for adherence to biblical revelation and principles in the formulation and execution of foreign policy, especially toward Israel and Jerusalem.  Intercede for the revelation of Jesus as Messiah in the Middle East and for "the peace of Jerusalem." (Ps 122)

Intercede for our national leaders - that every decision, action or plan to pressure Israel to give up land or evacuate its people from any territory would be frustrated and abandoned. May God raise up leaders in the U.S. and Israel who would support His end-time purposes for the Jewish people. Intercede for Messianic believers in Israel and for the establishment of religious freedom.

During a meeting [in the Palestinian Arab town of Ramallah] today, Sen. Barack Obama assured the Palestinians he supports a "negotiated settlement" that may grant the Palestinian Authority control over sections of Jerusalem.

"He assured us there was a misunderstanding when he said in [June] he supports the Israelis' rights to hold on to Jerusalem. He told us he corrected this right away and that he supports a negotiated settlement that will give the Palestinians territory," said the PA official.

Obama delivered a speech in June to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in which he stated if he is elected president, "Jerusalem would remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided."

The presidential candidate said that he would work to ensure more "freedom of movement" for Palestinians in the West Bank. Freedom of movement usually refers to Israel removing anti-terror roadblocks and checkpoints that have been directly credited with stopping suicide bombers from entering central Israel. Palestinians complain the Obama also criticized "Israeli measures that create facts on the ground that may affect a future Palestinian state." (WorldNetDaily 7/23/08)

FORMER U.S. AMBASSADOR TO JERUSALEM IS

OBAMA'S MIDDLE EAST ADVISER

Mideast pointman blasted by Israeli leaders as 'hostile' to Jewish state

Intercede for spiritual statesmen and for adherence to biblical revelation and principles in the formulation and execution of U.S. foreign policy, especially toward Israel and Jerusalem. Intercede for the revelation of Jesus as Messiah to the Israelis, Iranians and all people groups of the Middle East and for "the peace of Jerusalem." (Ps 122)

Jerusalem must be included in any negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, stressed Sen. Barack Obama's Middle East adviser Daniel Kurtzer. "It will be impossible to make progress on serious peace talks without putting the future of Jerusalem on the table," Kurtzer said at a conference in May organized by the Jewish People Policy Planning Institute or JPPPI.

Kurtzer, a former U.S. ambassador to Israel, has long been recognized by Israeli leaders, including prime ministers, as biased against Israel and is notorious for urging extreme concessions from the Jewish state. He was appointed as a primary Obama adviser on the Middle East earlier this year. (WorldNetDaily 5/13/08)

ISRAEL NEEDS RAIN DESPERATELY

Lord God Almighty:

- Perform a miracle in this season and replenish the water supply.

- Give the leadership wisdom to know how to meet the water needs.

- May the people be responsible in the use of their water.

- Fill the Sea of Galilee and the aquifers to normal levels.

- May Israel trust in You and have vision for their water demands now

and in the future. As You are bringing Your people back to the land,

they need water. (Intercessors for Israel www.ifij.org)

Whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists

and that he rewards those who seek him. - Hebrews 11:6

Never say, 'I've had enough. What's the use of believing?' That would

be throwing away the crown which will be granted to those who

keep faith. Say instead, 'I won't give up, for You are alive,

my Lord and my God. You see me, and You will not let me

be tempted beyond my strength. I trust in You!'

FOCUS FOR PRAYER: PERSECUTED BELIEVERS OF
THE CHINESE UNDERGROUND CHURCH

As the Olympics draw near, two ministries are leading a campaign to focus attention on the underground church network in China and pray for persecuted believers in China.

Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) Spokesman Todd Nettleton says the communist Chinese government has stepped up efforts to silence Christians and other dissidents as the Olympics approach.

"The Chinese government wants this Olympic season to be a great coming-out party for the nation of China. So they are doing everything they can to keep Christians out of Beijing, especially those who would be inclined to protest or make any kind of public spectacle," Nettleton contends.

Recently, VOM reported on a Chinese house church leader (House Church Leader and Family Evicted from Home) who was evicted from his Beijing home, along with his 90-year-old mother. China Aid Association reported a similar move by the Chinese government against a pastor and his wife. (President of Chinese House Church Alliance Forced to Live on Streets) Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) and the China Aid Association are asking Christians to wear wristbands that say "Pray for China." The wristbands can be ordered through websites of the Voice of the Martyrs and China Aid Association.

HOMELAND SECURITY

Let us agree in prayer that the Lord will expose and thwart the spread of nuclear materials, devices, missiles, and bombs.  Pray for all in intelligence agencies who are "on watch" against nuclear, biological, and chemical terrorist devices and plans.  Pray that any terrorists who would be attempting to detonate nuclear or other weapons of mass destruction be exposed, arrested and brought to swift justice and to redemption.

Pray for wisdom for security directors in U.S. cities.  Remember borders, ports, nuclear and chemical facilities, roads and infrastructures, energy grids, stadiums, fairs and large public gatherings. Pray that our enemies would fail to break through.

WAR IN IRAQ | WAR IN AFGHANISTAN

Pray that wisdom and strategy be granted to U.S. commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan. Intercede for Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the Afghan government,  Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (Kurdish), Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki (Shiite Muslim), the Parliament, and all officials that a form of good government representative of all Iraqi and Afghan socio-religious ethnic groups is established and maintained. Intercede for all troops deployed and for their families-for protection, good health and morale. Intercede for all Christians and churches in both countries. (1 Tim 2:2)

PRESIDENT DECLARES "CAPTIVE NATIONS WEEK"

In the 20th century, the evils of Soviet communism and Nazi fascism were defeated and freedom spread around the world as new democracies emerged. Today, our Nation faces new struggles with adversaries who murder the innocent and seek to subject millions to their violent, totalitarian rule. Still, we remain confident that the light of liberty will again overcome this darkness.

KIDNAPPING PROVES LUCRATIVE IN HAITI

Reported kidnappings occur in Haiti at a rate of one or two every day.
Gang members arrested with aid of UN peacekeeping force.

Haiti is well known as a major trans-shipment point for drugs heading to North America, with the trade controlled by violent gangs. It is also a country where the police and courts function poorly; destitution is widespread (most people live on less that $2 a day; there is 70% unemployment. Add to that the sheer number of guns on the streets and you have the perfect conditions for what can be described as a kidnap industry in Haiti.

Former President Jean Bertrand Aristide disbanded the army (which had overthrown him less than a year into his first term as president in 1991) when he was restored to power in the mid-1990s for a second term. By the time he was forced from office again in February 2004 because of the armed violence enveloping the country, many of the army's weapons were in the hands of gang members.

Haiti came close to meltdown that year and kidnappings were running at an estimated rate of five a day. By November 2004 a multinational stabilization mission had been sent in by the UN. In 2005 there were 760 reported kidnappings. The UN, which has 9,000 soldiers and police in the Caribbean country, set up a special anti-kidnapping unit in 2006. Together with the Haitian police, it gradually brought the numbers down to about 300 last year. But in the first six months of this year, there was a significant upsurge in the number of abductions.

The United Nations Special Representative in Haiti, Tunisian diplomat Hedi Annabi, has taken a personal interest in the kidnapping issue and made a point of meeting victims. In recent weeks, however, the police have arrested some kidnappers and they say they have dealt a serious blow to the kidnap gangs. The sentence for convicted kidnappers is life in prison with hard labor. But corruption in the judicial and prison systems means that they are sometimes back on the street and back in business in a few weeks.

HAITIAN GANGS BEGIN TO CRUMBLE - Police and security forces (The UN peacekeeping mission) in Haiti say they have dismantled an important criminal gang wanted for several recent kidnappings and murders after arresting four men. The men are accused of forming the heart of a gang known as Chochonet, which is being investigated for several recent kidnappings and killings. The arrests were carried out without incident, thanks to the local population which provided the information that led to the arrests. (United Nations 6/2/08)

TEXAS LEVEES HOLD BUT WATERS RISE IN DOLLY'S RAINS

Offer thanksgiving that the Lord has "remembered mercy" and granted strength and protection to all who fought wildfires in California. Continue to pray for extreme weather conditions across the country. Pronounce blessings on sandbagging and rescue efforts in flooded areas.

Hurricane Dolly slammed ashore and then loitered over deep south Texas as a tropical storm, dumping as much as a foot of rain in places and ripping roofs off buildings with 100 mph winds. Emergency managers waited for Dolly to move on late into the night Wednesday and hoped to begin assessing the storm's damage Thursday even as they began to rescue people from flooded or damaged homes. While the rain set records in Brownsville's Cameron County - ranging from six to 12 inches with another three to seven expected overnight - they did not appear to pose the threat to the Rio Grande's levees as had been feared.

21 DAYS TO GO

THE CALL DC AUGUST 16, 2008

A brief glance at the headlines of our daily newspapers exposes the frailty of the moral fabric of our nation as the corruption of sin digs its claws deeper and deeper into the hearts and minds of our young people.

Abortion continues to claim over 1.6 million unborn lives every year in the U.S., wiping out nearly one-third of an entire generation born since 1973.

The growing slave trade of pornography, homosexuality, human trafficking, and sexual perversion - not only accepted by the culture, but now shamelessly promoted by it - has claimed countless young men and women, pilfering the Kingdom of the Lord's inheritance.

In 2000, 400,000 people, both young and old, gathered on the National Mall in Washington, DC to fast and pray believing the dream that a nation can change. That gathering and many others have imprinted tens of thousands of young people, initiating a 24-hour prayer revolution and inspiring a dream in their hearts that they could be a voice and real agents for change. Our nation continues in crisis and we feel it is time for TheCall to go to a national scale in another historic gathering in our nation's capital.

TheCall isn't a conference or a festival; it is a solemn assembly - a gathering of all ages, races and denominations. The 12 hours of TheCall are spent primarily before the Lord in the place of repentance, prayer, and worship. The hour is late and the time is urgent. Our nation is in desperate need of revival. We are seeing some signs of God moving, but we do not have what we need. Full-scale revival is only ushered in through the collective body of Christ uniting in repentance and prevailing prayer.

When there seems to be no remedy, when there seems to be no hope for a nation, God still has a holy prescription . . . God has a dream. "Blow the trumpet in Zion, gather the people, call a fast." (Joel 2:12-18)

See you from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the DC National Mall on Saturday, August 16th! Pre-Call conferences are also convening.
