ISRAEL MARKS SIXTY YEARS SINCE
FOUNDING
Israel declared itself an independent state on
14 May 1948,
three years after the end of World War II, and
the death
of six million Jews in the Holocaust.
President Bush will travel to the Middle East
next week to meet
with leaders from Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia,
Afghanistan, the Palestinian Authority, Jordan
and Lebanon.
In Israel, the President will visit Jerusalem
and Masada
Pray that Israeli, American and
international security teams will be successful
in protecting the President and first lady and
their staff -
and all leaders visiting Israel
during the celebrations.
Pray for the Jewish people and
the Church, to come to a greater and more
dramatic revelation of the Identity of Yeshua,
Jesus, the Jewish Messiah. He has been disguised
and most often removed from amongst the context
of His People and Land Israel
Pray for the 60th anniversary
celebrations to encourage the Jewish people to
return to their inheritance (Israel) without
delay.
Offer thanksgiving to the Lord
for the wonderful and miraculous protection over
the Independence Day Celebrations here and
around the world in Jewish communities.
There were warnings to expect
terrorist activity. Ask that He would further
shield Israel from attacks in the days ahead and
that all impure plans to keep the people from
dwelling in safety in the Land would be removed.

LEBANON:
HEZBOLLAH, PRO-IRANIAN FORCES ATTEMPTING COUP
Hezbollah and pro-Iranian, pro-Syrian Lebanese
forces attempted to overthrow the pro-Western
government of Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad
Siniora on Friday. For more than a year,
Hezbollah and its allies have been trying to
gain a controlling share in Lebanon's
pro-Democracy government. They're even accused
of assassinating government ministers in their
attempt to change the balance of power.
Washington has charged that Iran, Syria and
Hezbollah are trying to bring about the collapse
of the legitimate Lebanese government. Lebanese
Minister of Telecommunications Marwan Hamade
said that his country was not collapsing into a
civil war but into a "militia coup launched by
pro-Iranian militias." Those militias are
transforming Lebanon "into a beachhead of Iran
on the Mediterranean Sea," Hamade said. He added
that his country gradually is being taken over
"by the fundamentalists of Iran" And that he was
"astonished with the silence of the
international community." (CNSNews.com 5/9/08)
CONGRESS: AL-QAEDA USING INTERNET TO RECRUIT
TERRORISTS IN THE U.S.
Using a video montage showing
mass executions, bomb-making, and a promise to
"slit the throats of Americans and Jews," two
U.S. lawmakers unveiled a report that says
homegrown violent Islamic extremism poses an
increasing threat to the safety of the American
people. The bipartisan report by the Senate
Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental
Affairs was unveiled by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.)
and Susan Collins (R-Maine) at a press
conference on Capitol Hill Thursday.
The congressional report cites one Web site, at-Tibyan
Publications, which posted the text of "39 Ways
to Serve and Participate in Jihad." It offers
tips on fundraising, weapons training and
"raising children to love jihad and those who
wage it." The report concludes that "this is a
critical challenge for homeland security of the
United States; one the U.S. government must work
quickly and aggressively to overcome. The safety
of the American people depends on it." (CNSNews.com

GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER,
MAY 11, 2008 - PENTECOST SUNDAY
10 DAYS: MAY 1-11
90 DAYS OF BLESSING, MAY 12 - AUGUST 9
On 15 May 2005 millions of
Christians from 156 nations in the world united
in the first ever Global Day of Prayer.
Christians gathered in different venues, seeking
God's face in repentance and prayer for the
transformation of their communities and nations.
Driven by Hab. 2:14 ("For the
earth will be filled with the knowledge of the
glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the
sea"), the dream is to mobilize Christians from
every single nation in the world to participate
in the Global Day of Prayer. However, the focus
is not only on a single day of prayer, but to
see a lifestyle of prayer established that will
transform communities.
As we gather locally in our
communities this weekend, we will be praying
globally with believers from 212 countries. The
prayer guides (available at -http://www.gdop-usa.com/gdop08_us_lock%201.pdf)
have been translated into 44 languages. People
will be praying in many more languages. How
significant to be praying like this on
Pentecost!
May you gather together with the
great joy of knowing that Jesus is even now
speaking blessing upon you! As you gather, may
God visit you as you worship, as if you were
with Him in His house. And may you find
yourselves praying with one mind, with sustained
joy, and with persistence and passion under the
upraised hands of Jesus, the Risen One.

DEVASTATING MYANMAR CYCLONE
Myanmar has only allowed a
handful of flights in the last two days after
blocking most international aid - including
necessities like food, water, medicine and
blankets and tents.
Negotiations continue about the
distribution of supplies
Ask the Lord to overrule the
government leaders of Myanmar who
have decided to block the
distribution of food, water, medicine
and other essential supplies and
aid.
Six days after the cyclone struck, ravaging much
of Myanmar's coast, the scale of the damage has
yet to be fully assessed. Reports from inside
the country, including from the few outside
organizations allowed to operate there, suggest
that food and clean water are scarce or entirely
unavailable in the worst-struck areas, and that
the death toll could escalate from the official
count of 22,500. Aid officials and health
experts are deeply worried about new ravages
from diseases like cholera and acute diarrhea.
Pentagon officials say they have
assembled a considerable number of ships,
helicopters, transport airplanes and marines in
the region to assist in cyclone relief. But by
mid-day Friday, the Myanmar government had given
the go-ahead for only one American airplane with
relief supplies to land on its territory.
The United Nations renewed relief efforts after
suspending deliveries of supplies to Myanmar on
Friday because the military government seized
the food and equipment already sent into the
country.
From World Vision -
As World Vision staff work amid the hardest-hit
communities, we are finding unimaginable
suffering. In the town of Latputa, for example,
only 400 of the town's 4,000 residents survived.
In just this one region alone, 50,000 people are
missing and presumed dead. Just imagine the
grief, despair, and fear of those who have lost
loved ones, neighbors and friends and their
struggle to survive in the chaotic aftermath.
24-7 PRAYER CONTINUES TO EXPLODE IN IRELAND
24-7prayer started by accident in September
1999, with a bunch of young people in England
who got the idea of trying to pray non-stop for
a month. God turned up and they couldn't stop
until Christmas! From there the prayer meeting
has spread into many nations, denominations and
age-groups. Hundreds of non-stop prayer meetings
now link up on the web to form a unique chain of
prayer.
Fourteen groups from many different parts of
Ireland registered in March and April and the
stories are rolling back in now. "There is a
real cry of the heart for more of God's love,
grace, passion and discipline to fall upon us as
a body", writes Rob Jones, Assistant Pastor of
CORE Church in Dublin. The Methodist Church has
planned over 3 straight weeks of 24-7 in the
centre of Belfast in May and June. Go to the
24-7 Ireland website
to hear more about what God is doing as his
people devote themselves to him in prayer.

OKLAHOMA SENATE PASSES RESOLUTION OF APOLOGY
TO NATIVE AMERICANS
After much spiritual warfare and
a long wait, the Resolution of Apology to Native
Americans was passed by the Oklahoma Senate
(5/8/08). Representative Lee Denney will now
introduce the Resolution to the Oklahoma House
of Representatives, and it will then be sent
to Governor Henry for his signature.
There approximately two weeks
left of this legislative session. Continue to
pray for passage. A special thank you to OAPN
Government Specialist Yolanda McCune and Jackie
Wilson who have diligently prayed at the capital
building through the 2008 legislative session
and to Senator Owen who sponsored the
resolution. Also, thank you to all of the
intercessors throughout the state of Oklahoma
and beyond, who have faithfully kept their
watch. (John Benefiel, Oklahoma Apostolic
Prayer Network Director)
