Possible plan to assassinate President Bush
On May 10, 2008, a member of the Islamist forum Al-Ikhlas
posted a message claiming that an "official in the
Jihadi Intelligence Organization" has learned of a
plan to assassinate President Bush. According to the
posting, members of a pro-Al-Qaeda cell from a Gulf
country have undergone sniper training in a Western
country, and "will lie in wait during [Bush's]
upcoming visit [to Saudi Arabia]."(Source:

Pray for the safety and protection of President
Bush, his aides, members of the Secret Service
teams attending the Middle East meetings. Ask the
Lord to send GOSPEL MESSENGERS into their midst -
that they may give a loving demonstration, and a
compassionate witness of Jesus of Nazareth.
BUSH, SAUDI KING TO DISCUSS SOARING OIL PRICES
President Bush, on a one-day visit to Saudi Arabia,
is taking a second stab on Friday at getting the
oil-rich nation to increase production and drive
down the soaring gasoline prices hurting U.S.
consumers. The White House says the president's
visit is intended, in part, to celebrate 75 years of
formal U.S.-Saudi relations. It will mark the
conclusion of several agreements, laying out
intentions to cooperate on nuclear energy,
infrastructure protection and nonproliferation. But
the rising price of oil undoubtedly will overshadow

ISRAELIS TELL PRESIDENT BUSH:
WE OPPOSE A PALESTINIAN STATE
Osama bin Laden vowed in an audio tape to mark
Israel's 60th anniversary to continue to fight the
Jewish state
and its allies in the West.
Intercede for our national leaders - that every
decision, action or plan to pressure Israel to give
up land or evacuate its people from any territory
would be frustrated and abandoned. May God raise up
leaders in the United States and Israel who would
support His end-time purposes for the people of
Israel.
A grassroots Israeli movement on Wednesday published
an open letter to visiting President Bush explaining
why the creation of a Palestinian Arab state on
Israel's ancient biblical heartland will represent
the single greatest threat to the region.
The Mattot Arim organization welcomed Bush in its
letter, but urged him to rethink his agenda of
pushing the Israelis and Arabs toward the rapid
creation of a sovereign Palestinian state in Judea
and Samaria. The group pointed out that today
Israel's northern and southern borders are
threatened by terrorist states because of Israel's
withdrawals from southern Lebanon and Gaza, but
noted that those regions are sparsely populated. If,
however, Israel hands over Judea and Samaria and
that region becomes as volatile as southern Lebanon
or Gaza, several million Israelis will be under

CALL TO WORSHIP DRAWS THOUSANDS IN JERUSALEM
Some 5,000 Israelis and visiting Christians attended
"The Call" worship conference in Jerusalem on
Sunday, with many describing the event as an
earthshaking experience.
A solemn assembly based on Joel 2, The Call was
started in the United States in 2000. Since then
several conferences have taken place across the U.S.
and the world. But this was the first time the event
was held in Israel, and it came at a significant
time in the country's history, coinciding with the
60th anniversary of the modern Jewish state.
Lou Engle, who is the visionary and co-founder of
The Call, said he once had a casual attitude toward
Jerusalem, but during his time here, his perspective
shifted. "We're not coming for a tour. We're coming
to the very throne," said Engle. Engle and his group
couldn't have come at a better time. Just 48 hours
later, in the very place where thousands of
believers had just worshipped and God's Spirit to
descend on Israel, the "kings of the world"
assembled for Shimon Peres' "Presidents' Conference"
to determine Israel's place in the new world order
they envision.

(Kurdish), Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki (Shiite
Muslim), the Parliament, and all officials-that a
form of good government that is representative of
all Iraqi socioreligious ethnic groups be
established and maintained.
Forces loyal to Shiite cleric Moqtada Sadr laid down
their weapons Thursday as reports emerged from Iraq
of relative calm in the Baghdad district of Sadr
City.
Eyewitness reports said there were minor skirmishes
in the area Thursday morning but noted many gunmen
could be seen dismantling bombs scattered in the
district. Other reports indicated most of the armed
militias vanished from the streets as the terms of
the cease-fire brokered between Sadr loyalists and
the Iraqi government during the weekend took hold.
Maj. Gen. Qassim Atta, the commander of Iraqi
operations in Sadr City, cautioned, however, that
the cease-fire was still in its initial stages and
said most of the agreements have yet to be
implemented.
Atta told a news conference that Iraqi authorities
established checkpoints where militants could turn
in their guns in exchange for government-backed

Miguel Angel Mejia, one of Columbia's most powerful
cocaine traffickers, was arrested May 1. His twin
brother, Victor Manuel Mejia, was killed during a
police raid two days earlier. "Roughly half of
Columbia's criminal underworld was controlled by
them," Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos told
reporters. Columbia's Interior Minister, Carlos
Holguin," declared "How good that the head of this

Pray that Chinese and international aid be rushed to
victims in towns, villages and remote areas. Ask the
Lord to preserve life and that the Chinese church
would rise up and spread the message of the Kingdom.
The death toll in the country's worst natural
disaster in 30 years passed 22,000 on Friday
evening, and the government estimates that the
figure could climb to as many as 50,000 people.
The Chinese government said it had already deployed
more than 130,000 military and relief workers in
devastated parts of Sichuan Province, where
thousands are still believed to be buried in the
ruins and where perhaps a hundred thousand people or
more have been left homeless
And for the first time on Friday, Beijing allowed
international relief experts to help in a domestic
operation. Rescue efforts have been hampered all
week long by bad weather, treacherous mountain
terrain and thousands of aftershocks, some of them
quite severe. The government has started to try to
find homes for orphans of the disastrous earthquake,
repeating a similar plan that was instituted in 1976
after 240,000 people were killed by a massive

BURMA CYCLONE: DEATH TOLL JUMPS TO 78,000
The country's military regime continues block aid

are believed to have received any aid at all.

There is ample evidence from history that God
changed nations in answer to prayer. Pray that the
Lord overrules leaders in Burma and allows
international aid to flow into the country.
Intercede that the Lord
will fulfill his purposes for this nation. Ask the

life and that the Burmese Church would rise up and
spread
the message of the Kingdom
Torrential rain continued on Friday, compounding the
misery of survivors. There are reports of disease,
and accounts of hungry villages gathering along
roadsides in the rain and mud, begging passing
vehicles for food with clasped hands. Food and clean
drinking water are practically unavailable in most

SUPREME COURT IMPOSES SAME-SEX "MARRIAGE"
Ruling Underscores importance of November's Ballot
Initiative
Protecting Marriage
The Family Research Council today sharply criticized
the California Supreme Court for its decision
overturning the definition of marriage as the union
of a man and a woman, which was overwhelmingly
adopted by 61 percent of the state's voters in a
2000 referendum.
"It's outrageous that the court has overturned
not only the historic definition of marriage, but
the clear will of the people of California, as
expressed in Proposition 22." said FRC President
Tony Perkins. "The California Supreme Court assumed
the powers of a legislative body by imposing
same-sex 'marriage.' However, in 2000, the people of
California spoke loudly and clearly on the value of
marriage when 61 percent of voters approved
Proposition 22."
FRC urged Californians to support a marriage
amendment to the state's constitution, which is
slated to appear on the ballot in the November
election.
"Anticipating this ruling from a court of activist
judges, over 1.1 million California voters signed
petitions placing a constitutional amendment on the
ballot this November. The California Marriage
Protection Act will provide voters with the
opportunity to correct this exercise in judicial
activism and to permanently protect the definition
of marriage," said Perkins.
"This decision put marriage at risk all across the
nation and again highlights the need for a Marriage
Protection Amendment to the U.S. Constitution so
that this divisive campaign for the oxymoron of
'same-sex marriage' will be ended once and for all."
